*** NJCAA Division Three ***
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – It took THIRTEEN INNINGS for a champion to be crowned in NJCAA3. The two teams competing were the 4th seeded OAKTON COLLEGE OWLS and the 3 seeds – the 4-time defending champion TYLER COLLEGE APACHES.
By the 3rd Inning the score was knotted up at 2-2 but the Owls went on top 5-4 in the 4th. That became a 6-4 lead in the 5th Inning, 7-5 in the 8th and 7-7 to end the 9th. In the 10th Inning each team notched 2 more runs, ditto for the 11th. Neither team scored in the 12th, with Oakton College smacking in 3 runs in the top of the 13th, ultimately winning the game 14-11. Alexander Crinigan pitched for the win. * THE OWLS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION THREE *
*** NJCAA DIVISION TWO ***
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this division were the top seeded LSU-EUNICE BENGALS and the 2 seeds – the PARKLAND COLLEGE COBRAS.
After a scoreless 1st Inning the Bengals grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 2nd. The Cobras tied it up at 2-2 in the 4th Inning before grabbing a 3-2 edge in the 5th. The 8th Inning saw LSU-Eunice tie the score again, this time at 3-3 before winning the game 5-3 in the 9th. Pitcher Justin Barton notched the W. * THE BENGALS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION TWO *
*** NJCAA DIVISION ONE ***
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This game pitted the defending champion CHIPOLA COLLEGE INDIANS against the WALTERS STATE SENATORS. A 1-1 1st Inning tie became a 3-1 Senators lead in the 2nd.
That became a 5-2 edge in the 4th before the Indians knotted things up at 6-6 in the 6th. From there Chipola College added 3 more runs in the 7th and 1 more in the 8th while Walters State could muster just 1 more run in the 7th. The Indians won by a final score of 10-7. Phillip Sanderson pitched for the Save. * THE INDIANS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION ONE *
