Cleary University CougarsDAY TWO: GAME ONE – The 5 seeds – the CLEARY UNIVERSITY PROWLING COUGARS – faced the top seeded UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS to start Day Two.

An action-packed 1st Inning ended with the Prowling Cougars on top 3-2, with UC-Clermont tying things up at 3-3 in the 2nd. Unfazed, Cleary University piled on FIVE runs in the 3rd Inning and 1 more in the 5th, then rode those runs to a 9-3 Upset win. Gunnar Gail pitched an entire game for the Prowling Cougars. 

Penn State Dubois logoDAY TWO: GAME TWO – From a case of Cougar on Cougar violence to a battle of cats and dogs. The 6th seeded PENN STATE AT DUBOIS NITTANY LIONS took the diamond against the 10 seeds – the SELMA UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS.

The Bulldogs grabbed a 2-1 edge in the 1st Inning and then made that a 3-1 advantage in the 4th. In the bottom of the 5th Inning the Nittany Lions went up 5-3 and added 2 more runs in the 6th while shutting out Selma U the rest of the way. PSU-Dubois won it by a final score of 7-3 for Pitcher Toner Corl.  

Florida National University ConquistadorsDAY TWO: GAME THREE – This elimination game pitted the 9 seeds – the FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS – against the 4th seeded BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES.

After a scoreless 1st Inning the Conquistadors went up 3-0 in the 2nd. Florida National University continued dominating the Big Blues on both sides of the ball, shutting them out while tacking on 9 more runs themselves. The closing tally was Conquistadors 12  Bluefied State 0, with Brandon Torres pitching for the win.

Wright State Lake Campus LakersDAY TWO: GAME FOUR – Another elimination game saw the 3rd seeded WRIGHT STATE AT THE LAKE CAMPUS LAKERS taking on the 7 seeds – the Defending National Champion COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS.

The Lakers seized a 3-0 1st Inning lead and converted that to a 5-0 advantage in the 3rd. The Fighting Saints made it a 5-2 game in the 4th before Wright State at the Lake extended their lead to 7-3 in the 5th. Three more runs for the Lakers in the 6th Inning ended the scoring as they went on to win it 10-3. Pitcher Carson Schuman notched the W. 

Mississippi University for Women OwlsDAY TWO: GAME FIVE – More Elimination Bracket action in this battle between the 8 seeds – the MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN OWLS (co-ed despite their name) – and the (9) FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS, off their earlier victory.

Neither team scored in the first 2 Innings but in the 3rd the Owls took a 2-0 edge. MUW made that a 4-0 lead in the 6th Inning following which the Conquistadors pulled to within 4-3 but no closer. On the Mound for the entire game in this 4-3 Owls victory was Will Peters.

newportnewsapprentice-school-builderDAY TWO: GAME SIX – The 2 seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS – went up against the(3) WRIGHT STATE AT THE LAKE LAKERS to close out Day Two.

The Builders were all over the Lakers from the very beginning, driving in 4 runs in the 1st Inning and 1 more in the 2nd for a 5-0 advantage. Newport News Apprentice School tacked on 1 more run in the 6th Inning while shutting out Wright State at the Lake the rest of the way for a 6-0 triumph. Luke Schanback was the winning Pitcher.
