Oakwood AmbassadorsNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The USCAA’s Division One title game pitted the 5th seeded OAKWOOD UNIVERSITY AMBASSADORS against the 3 seeds – the CONCORDIA (AL) COLLEGE HORNETS. The Ambassadors trailed the Hornets 32-30 at Halftime but shot 57% from the floor in the 2nd Half for an 80-65 victory. Brandon Daniel led Oakwood U with 19 points.  * THE AMBASSADORS ARE USCAA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS *

Dallas Christian BIGNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The DALLAS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS and the HILLSDALE FREE WILL BAPTIST COLLEGE SAINTS were the last two teams standing in the National Tournament of the ACCA (Association of Christian College Athletics). The Crusaders were back in prime form and wound up taking the hoops title by a Century Club- level final score of 103-93.  * THE CRUSADERS ARE ACCA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS *

Hope International University RoyalsGOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – SEMIFINALS – The 2 seeds – the HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS – took the court against the 6th seeded VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS and sent them packing with a 73-53 loss.    ###    And in the other semifinal the top seeded BIOLA UNIVERSITY EAGLES and the 5th seeded WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS went into Overtime before the Eagles emerged with a 75-66 victory. 

Cumberlands PatriotsMID-SOUTH CONFERENCE – SEMIFINALS – The 3rd seeded UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS played a masterpiece of defensive basketball with the 7 seeds – the LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS. The Patriots won by a final score of 56-55.    ###    And in the top spot the GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS won a 78-73 catfight against the 4th seeded CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS.  

Dillard U Bleu DevilsGULF STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – SEMIFINALS – The 2 seeds – the DILLARD UNIVERSITY BLEU (sic) DEVILS – moved on to the title game with a 95-76 victory over the 3rd seeded PHILANDER SMITH COLLEGE PANTHERS.    ###    And the 4th seeded XAVIER (LA) UNIVERSITY GOLD RUSH delivered an upset of the top seeded TALLADEGA COLLEGE TORNADOES, surprising them 75-67. 

wayland baptistSOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Two Cinderellas squared off for the SAC title. The 6th seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s) upset the 5 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS – in a 92-85 shootout. The Pioneers came back from a 39-30 Halftime deficit led by Maurice Richmond’s 24 points. * THE PIONEERS ARE SAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS

LOGOLANGSTONRED RIVER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 2nd seeded LANGSTON UNIVERSITY LIONS did battle with the top seeds – the LSU-ALEXANDRIA GENERALS – for the crown of the RRAC. A 31-31 Halftime tie became a 65-65 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session the Lions snuck by the Generals by a tight score of 74-72. * THE LIONS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE RRAC TOURNAMENT *


Faulkner U Eagles logoSOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this league were the 5th seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) and the 2 seeds – the COLLEGE OF COASTAL GEORGIA MARINERS. Postseason experience told the tale as the Eagles pulled off a 78-64 upset victory. * THE EAGLES ARE SSAC TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS *

salt lake bruinsDISTRICT 101 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The champions of Regions 101 and 118 did battle for the crown of this District. The SALT LAKE CITY COLLEGE BRUINS (from Region 118) played the COCHISE COLLEGE APACHES (from Region 101). The Bruins took what started as a close game and slowly put more distance between themselves and the Apaches, ultimately winning by a score of 99-73.  * THE BRUINS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 101 *

Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Golden NorsemenDISTRICT 102- CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Another ticket to the Big Dance was on the line in Shawnee, OK as the 4th seeded NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN found themselves battling the 2 seeds – the NORTHERN OKLAHOMA COLLEGE AT TONKAWA MAVERICKS. The Golden Norsemen pulled off the upset in a 72-68 game for the ages!  * THE GOLDEN NORSEMEN ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 102 *

Harcum College BearsDISTRICT 103 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Two more Regional champs duked it out in this game. The HARCUM COLLEGE BEARS (Region 19) played the HARFORD COLLEGE FIGHTING OWLS (Region 20). The Bears walked away with a 20 point victory over the Fighting Owls, bouncing them to the tune of 86-66.  * THE BEARS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 103 *  

Moberly Area College GreyhoundsDISTRICT 104 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Another battle of champions took place in Moberly, MO as the MOBERLY AREA COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS (Region 16) clashed with the SAUK VALLEY COLLEGE SKYHAWKS (Region 4). The Greyhounds went on to defeat the Skyhawks by a final score of 83-65.  * THE GREYHOUNDS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 104 *  

Odessa College WranglersDISTRICT 105 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Over to Brownwood, TX for the District 105 tourney finale. The top seeds from the West – the ODESSA COLLEGE WRANGLERS – took the court against the top seeds from the North – the RANGER COLLEGE RANGERS. This was an edge of your seat game which the Wranglers won by a count of 71-65.   * THE WRANGLERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 105 *  

Southwest Tennessee SaluqisDISTRICT 107 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The SOUTHWEST TENNESSEE COLLEGE SALUQIS (sic) and the MOTLOW STATE BUCKS tussled with each other in this District championship game. It was a roundball royal rumble but in the end the Saluqis prevailed by a final score of 73-68 and move on to the NJCAA National Tournament.  * THE SALUQIS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 107 *   

Northwest Florida State RaidersDISTRICT 108 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – On to Ocala, FL for this title tilt. Patriot Gymasium was the venue as the storied NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE RAIDERS – the defending national champions – were up against the TALLAHASEE COLLEGE EAGLES. When all the dust had settled the Raiders were headed back to the Big Dance after beating the Eagles 81-76.  * THE RAIDERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 108 *  

Gillette College PronghornsDISTRICT 109 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeds – the GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS (who have lost just ONE game all season) – played the 2nd seeded CASPER COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS. The Pronghorns were in top form and wound up making this a very lopsided championship game indeed. The Pronghorns tossed in 97 points compare to the 69 scored by the Thunderbirds.  * THE PRONGHORNS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 109

monroe tribunesDISTRICT 202 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Warwick, RI was the location for this District title tilt. The MONROE (Rochester) COLLEGE TRIBUNES found themselves facing the COLLEGE OF RHODE ISLAND KNIGHTS. The Tribunes dominated this game on both sides of the ball, absolutely suffocating the Knights with stellar defense. In the end Monroe won by a score of 69-49.  * THE TRIBUNES ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 202 *

Triton College TrojansDISTRICT 203 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The TRITON COLLEGE TROJANS came into this game as the top seeds. Their opponents, the BLACKHAWK COLLEGE- EAST BRAVES, were seeded number 3. A monumental defensive struggle followed, and when all of the dust had settled this year’s District 203 Champions weere anointed. The Trojans defeated the Braves in a 59-47 affair.  * THE TROJANS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 203 *

South Suburban Bulldogs logoDISTRICT 204 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The District 204 title game wound up pitting the 2nd seeded SOUTH SUBURBAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS against the 5 seeds – the MORTON COLLEGE PANTHERS. In this contest of cats and dogs South Suburban College had not trouble at all spanking their opponents. The Bulldogs put up a Century Club level 100 points to the 70 scored by the Panthers.  * THE BULLDOGS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 204 *

Louisburg College Hurricanes LogoDISTRICT 206 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Meanwhile down at Heins Gymnasium in Pinehurst, NC two teams played for this District’s crown. The top seeds – the LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES – took the court against the 3rd seeded CATAWBA VALLEY COLLEGE RED HAWKS. After a reasonably tight 1st Half the Hurricanes got some separation from the Red Hawks in the 2nd, culminating in a 78-63 triumph.  * THE HURRICANES ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 206 *  

Kirkwood College EaglesDISTRICT 208 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Moving to Cedar Rapids, IA the top seeded KIRKWOOD COLLEGE EAGLES took the court against the 3 seeds – the IOWA LAKES COLLEGE LAKERS. This championship clash was hard-fought but there could only be one winner. When all the dust settled it turned out the Kirkwood College had downed the Lakers by a final tally of 80-64.  * THE EAGLES ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 208 *

Lansing College StarsDISTRICT 209 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top two seeds in this District went up against each other in this game played at Pioneer Gymnasium in University Center, MI. The top seeded LANSING COLLEGE STARS clashed with the 2nd seeded MUSKEGON COLLEGE JAYHAWKS. This was a hardcourt Armageddon which the Stars won by a tight score of 90-87.  * THE STARS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 209 *  

Schoolcraft College OcelotsDISTRICT 210 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Forty minutes wasn’t enough for the teams competing for the District 210 crown. The number 1 seeds – the SCHOOLCRAFT COLLEGE OCELOTS – collided with the Cinderella 6 seeds – the MACOMB COLLEGE MONARCHS. After a game for the ages the Overtime session ended with the Ocelots pulling out an 89-85 victory.  * THE OCELOTS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 210 *

Columbus State Comm Coll CougarsDISTRICT 211 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Circleville, OH was the site of this championship game. The 2nd seeded COLUMBUS STATE COUGARS took the court against their District’s Cinderalla 5 seeds – the CUYAHOGA COLLEGE CHALLENGERS (or “Tri-C” for short). In the end the Cougars were the team to advance to the National Tournament with a 76-68 triumph.  * THE COUGARS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 211 *  

MCC Penn Valley ScoutsDISTRICT 213 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title tilt pitted the METROPOLITAN COLLEGE AT PENN VALLEY SCOUTS against the NORTH ARKANSAS COLLEGE PIONEERS. Points pretty much flew like shrapnel in this tightly-contested affair that ended with the Scouts defeating the Pioneers by a count of 99-91. * THE SCOUTS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 213 *
