COLLEGE BASEBALL: THE LATEST TOURNAMENT RESULTS

ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS

ROUND ONE – GAME ONE – The top seeded GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES faced the 6th seeded ASHFORD UNIVERSITY SAINTS. After 3 scoreless Innings the Grizzlies made it a 1-0 game in the 4th, then exploded for 5 more runs in the 5th and 8th. For their part the Saints could only muster 1 run each in the 6th and 9th Innings. Georgia Gwinnett College won by a score of ELEVEN to TWO. Alex Roberts was the victorious Pitcher.  

ROUND ONE  – GAME TWO – This game pitted the 2 seeds – the CAL STATE AT SAN MARCOS COUGARS – against the 5th seeded WEST VIRGINIA TECH GOLDEN BEARS. The Golden Bears got off to a quick 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning, following which the Cougars knotted the score at 1-1 in the 3rd. There things stood until the 7th Inning, when Cal State San Marcos added 2 more runs and rode those to a 3-1 victory. Pitcher Emilio Esquibel tossed for 9 Iron Man Innings for the Cougars.

ROUND ONE – GAME THREE – Closing out Round One was this clash between the 4th seeded UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AT VICTORIA JAGUARS and the 3 seeds – the FISHER COLLEGE FALCONS. This game was an orgy of offense which saw the Jaguars lead the Falcons 4-0 in the 1st Inning and 10-6 by the 3rd. Houston-Victoria put up 2 more runs before all was said and done, and needed both of them to hold on for a tight 12-11 win. Nathan Falkenstine got the W for the Jaguars.

CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

ROUND TWO – The (5) TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS eliminated the (8) CARDINAL STRITCH UNIVERSITY WOLVES in a masterful 6-0 shutout     ###      The (4) PURDUE UNIVERSITY – NORTH CENTRAL PANTHERS stunned the top seeded UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS in a 5-4 upset     ###      Meanwhile the (6) ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES eliminated the (7) PURDUE UNIVERSITY AT CALUMET PEREGRINES 5-0     ###      And the (2) JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES eviscerated the (3) HOLY CROSS COLLEGE SAINTS to the tune of FOURTEEN to FIVE!  

CROSSROADS LEAGUE

ROUND ONE – The (7) BETHEL (IN) COLLEGE PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) shocked the (2) HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY FORESTERS in a 3-1 upset     ###      The (3) SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS defeated the (6) INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS 5-3     ###      Next the (4) TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS spanked the (5) MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS by a score of 9-3     ###      And the (1) MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS folded, spindled and mutilated the (8) UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS by a count of EIGHTEEN to FOUR! 

GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The 3rd seeded CONCORDIA (CA) EAGLES and the 2nd seeded WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS were the 2 teams left battling for this conference crown. In Game One the Eagles annihilated the Warriors 9-1. Game Two was a 10 Inning Classic that saw Concordia emerge with a 4-3 victory and a series sweep. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE EAGLES, THE 2015 CHAMPIONS OF THE GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE * 

KANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS took on the 3 seeds – the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES – for the KCAC title. The Blue Jays forced the Coyotes to play catch-up for the whole game, seizing a 4-0 lead in the 1st Inning and converting that to 5-0 in the 2nd and 7-1 in the 3rd. Tabor College added runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th Innings while Kansas Wesleyan University settled for one big Inning of SIX runs in the 8th. The Blue Jays won the game 12-7. Jean Acevedo was the winning Pitcher. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BLUE JAYS, THE 2015 CHAMPIONS OF THE KANSAS COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE * 

MIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE

ROUND ONE – The 4th seeded WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN won a pair of games yesterday, hammering the 5th seeded SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES 9-2 and upsetting the top seeded AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF BUSINESS EAGLES in a 7-5 thriller.     ###      And the 2 seeds – the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS – decimated the 3rd seeded CLARKE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS to the tune of FOURTEEN to FIVE!  

NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

ROUND TWO – The 6th seeded DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS completed the humiliation of the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES by eliminating them in an 8-6 Instant Classic     ###      Meanwhile the top seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS eliminated the 4th seeded DAKOTA STATE TROJANS in an action-packed 16-12 affair     ###      And the 3rd seeded VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS down the 5 seeds – the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS 9-5. 

SOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

ROUND TWO – The (4) WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS upset the (2) OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS by a score of 11-9     ###      Meanwhile the (1) OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON eliminated the (3) UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS 5-1     ###      And the (6) SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES bounced the (5) TEXAS WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS 6-1. 

SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded AUBURN UNIVERSITY AT MONTGOMERY WARHAWKS (formerly the Senators) played the 2nd seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) for the SSAC crown. The Warhawks led 3-0 in the 1st Inning and 5-1 in the 2nd on their way to an 8-5 triumph. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WARHAWKS, THE 2015 CHAMPIONS OF THE SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *

THE SUN CONFERENCE

ROUND TWO – The 5th seeded UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AT BEAUFORT SAND SHARKS stunned the top seeded NORTHWOOD (FL) SEA HAWKS in a 10-8 THIRTEEN INNING marathon     ###      Meanwhile the 4 seeds – the SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE – smacked down the 6th seeded THOMAS UNIVERSITY NIGHTHAWKS 6-1     ###      And the 3rd seeded SAINT THOMAS (FL) BOBCATS stayed unbeaten by upsetting the 2nd seeded EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES in an EIGHTEEN to ONE laugher.  

UNAFFILIATED GROUP

ROUND TWO – The (2) UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS upset the (1) CONCORDIA (OR) CAVALIERS in a 6-3 game     ###      Meanwhile the (4) CORBAN UNIVERSITY WARRIORS survived a 6-4 13 Inning affair against the (3) MENLO COLLEGE OAKS     ###      And the (5) COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES then eliminated (4) Corban by a score of 5-3.
