The 2nd seeded LEWIS- CLARK STATE WARRIORS battled the 3 seeds – the OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES – for the right to face Cumberland University in the championship game. The Warriors held a 1-0 lead from the 1st Inning until the Eagles took a 4-1 lead of their own in the 3rd. In an explosive 6th Inning Lewis- Clark State outscored OWU 7-1 to seize an 8-5 advantage and added another run in the 7th to set up the final score of 9-5. Michael Noteware of the Warriors went all 9 Innings, Iron Man style, for the win.

DAY SIX – GAME ONE – The UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS – the defending champions of D2 baseball – played in an Instant Classic against the COLORADO MESA COLLEGE MAVERICKS. There was no score for the first 4 Innings but in the bottom of the 5th the Spartans took a 1-0 edge. Tampa added another run each in the 7th and 8th Innings with the Mavericks at last getting on the scoreboard with a run in the 9th. The final score was Spartans 3 Mavericks 1. Chase Sparkman registered the victory.
DAY SIX – GAME TWO – Next up the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS took the diamond against the SOUTHERN INDIANA UNIVERSITY SCREAMING EAGLES. The Screaming Eagles took a 1-0 lead in the 2nd Inning but the Mavericks added 2 runs each in the 4th and 5th for a 4-1 advantage. Minnesota State added another run in the 8th Inning while shutting out Southern Indiana the rest of the way for a 5-1 triumph. Pitching for the Mavericks’ win was T.J. Larson.

DAY SIX – FIRST SEMIFINAL – The MIAMI DADE COLLEGE SHARKS played the SPARTANBURG METHODIST COLLEGE PIONEERS in this opening game of the day. The Sharks slammed in 6 runs in the 2nd Inning for a 6-0 lead which stood at 8-1 by the 3rd and 8-2 by the 4th. In the 5th Inning Miami Dade College crushed any hope the Pioneers had for a comeback by racking up 5 more runs in this THIRTEEN to TWO blowout. Robert Evans was the triumphant pitcher.
DAY SIX – SECOND SEMIFINAL – The IOWA WESTERN REIVERS faced the MIDLAND COLLEGE CHAPARRALS in another semifinal massacre. The Reivers only gave up 1 run to the Chaparrals while scoring 11 themselves in this thoroughly one- sided affair. Freshman pitcher Kevin Elder got this ELEVEN to ONE win to send Iowa Western on to face the Sharks for the 2014 title!

DAY SIX – GAME ONE – The day started with an elimination game between the MADISON COLLEGE WOLFPACK and the PASCO HERNANDO STATE CONQUISTADORS. The Conquistadors looked good early, leading 1-0 after the 2nd Inning and 2-0 after the 4th. In the 5th Inning the Wolfpack snagged 2 runs to make it a 3-2 game before taking a 5-2 lead in the 7th. Madison College added 2 more runs in the 8th for a 7-3 final tally. Michael Pleimling of the Wolfpack picked up the win.
DAY SIX – GAME TWO – Back to blowouts for this game between the MESA COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS and the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. The Thunderbirds took control early and then proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate the Eagles. Mesa College led 4-0 after the 1st Inning and 10-0 after the 2nd on their way to a TWELVE to NOTHING buttkicking of Hinds College. Nick Schuman pitched for the T-bird victory.
