THE SUN CONFERENCE – The 6th seeded UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA-BEAUFORT SAND SHARKS stunned the top seeds, the EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES. In an ELEVEN inning Instant Classic the Sand Sharks (love that name) emerged with a 2-0 First Round victory. ### Meawhile the 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE scorched the complacent 2 seeds, the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES, by a score of 7-0. ### And to continue the theme of upsets in the Sun Conference tournament the (4) WEBBER INTERNATIONAL WARRIORS toppled the (3) ST THOMAS (FL) BOBCATS in a 4-3 nailbiter.
APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 6 seed mojo carried over to the AAC tourney as the VIRGINIA INTERMONT COBRAS dismembered the 3rd seeded ST ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS 7-1. ### Meanwhile the top seeded defending champions of NAIA baseball, the TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS, totalled the (8) MONTREAT CAVALIERS by a score of 10-3. ### The (7) BRYAN LIONS fell to the 2nd seeded UNION (KY) BULLDOGS 9-4. ### And in a 5 over 4 upset the MILLIGAN COLLEGE BUFFALOES fell to the REINHARDT EAGLES in a 9-1 drubbing.
MIDWEST COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE – The 2nd seeded VITERBO V-HAWKS took care of business, defeating the 5th seeded CLARKE CRUSADERS 6-2. ### The 6 seed lightning struck again with the MT MERCY MUSTANGS kicking around the top seeded WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN to the tune of 13-6. ### And the (4) ST AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES fell to the (3) GRAND VIEW VIKINGS 4-1.
SOUTHERN STATES ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The (2) LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES defeated the (7) BREWTON PARKER COLLEGE BARONS 4-2 in Day One action. ### The 5th seeded SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC RUNNIN’ HORNETS upset the 4 seeds, the BELHAVEN BLAZERS 3-2. ### And the top seeded FAULKNER EAGLES crushed the (8) AUM WARHAWKS in a 19-6 laugher.
GULF COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE/ TRANSOUTH CONFERENCE GROUP – The 4 seeds, the TALLADEGA TORNADOES, upset the 3rd seeded FREED-HARDEMAN LIONS in a 9-8 game for the ages. ### The (2) MARTIN METHODIST REDHAWKS won a 3-2 nailbiter over the (5) EDWARD WATERS TIGERS. ### And the (6) BLUE MOUNTAIN COLLEGE TOPPERS nearly gave us another 6 over 1 upset but in the end fell to the top seeded BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS by a score of 9-8.
AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE – Another ticket was punched to the NAIA national tournament as the AMC crowned its champion. Two teams with no losses so far in the tournament squared off for the title as the 4th seeded BENEDICTINE-SPRINGFIELD BULLDOGS took two games from the 3rd seeded WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS. Game One was a very tight 6-5 thriller and Game Two kept the drama going with the Bulldogs winning the conference championship 9-7. Congratulations to Benedictine-Springfield!
RED RIVER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – The 4th seeded LSU-SHREVEPORT PILOTS (riverboat pilots) took the RRAC title in two games over the 3 seeds, the TEXAS WESLEYAN RAMS. The Pilots obliterated the Rams in the first game by a score of 19-6 and then squeezed out a 5-4 victory in the second game to earn their own ticket to the nationals. Congratulations to LSU-Shreveport, the champions of the Red River Athletic Conference Tournament!
CCCAA OPENING ROUND – The 16th seeded COMPTON COLLEGE TARTARS doubled-up on the 17 seeds, the CITY COLLEGE OF SANTA BARBARA VAQUEROS, defeating them by a score of 6-3. ### The 15th seeded RIO HONDO COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS were upset by the (18) EAST LOS ANGELES HUSKIES 5-1. ### The (N17) COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS surprised the (N16) MODESTO PIRATES in a 2-0 shutout. ### And the (N18) LOS MEDANOS MUSTANGS upset the (N15) MISSION COLLEGE SAINTS in an 8-5 affair.
