NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title tilt was fought between the 3 seeds – the LANCASTER BIBLE COLLEGE CHARGERS – and the 4th seeded COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY RAMS. By Halftime the Chargers were on top 37-27. After the break, LBC kept the Rams at arm’s length as they won their first ever National Championship 82-75. Camden Hurst tossed in 27 points to lead the Chargers.

ELITE EIGHT: FIRST BERTH – The AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES faced the LOUISIANA STATE AT SHREVEPORT PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots). The Gyrenes put LSU-Shreveport on Upset Alert at the Half with their 46-38 advantage. The Pilots cut into the AMU lead from there, but still lost to them by a Century Club score of 102-98. The Gyrenes were led by Michael Klekas with a Double Double of 26 points and 11 rebounds. His teammates Jack Watkins and Alex Sherwood got Double Doubles of their own with 21 points & 11 rebounds, and 14 points & 10 rebounds, respectively. Continue reading
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This title tilt pitted the 5th seeded NORTH CENTRAL UNIVERSITY RAMS against the 6 seeds – the CROWN COLLEGE POLARS. The Rams went on top early and led 40-25 by Halftime. After the break, they got even more separation from the Polars, ultimately winning the game 76-51. Carmello McNeal led North Central U. with 23 points.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 1 seeds – the PENN STATE AT YORK LIONS – battled the Cinderella 6th seeded MIAMI UNIVERSITY AT HAMILTON HARRIERS. This game was a defensive epic, with the Lions on top at Halftime by a mere 25-19. After the break, PSU-York kept the Harriers at arm’s length to win the title 56-48. James Barlow led the Lions with a Double Double of 15 points and 21 rebounds.
FIRST QUARTERFINAL – The 6th seeded CROWN COLLEGE POLARS took the court against the 3 seeds – the MANHATTAN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE THUNDER. The Thunder seemed to be in control at the Half with their 36-28 lead, but from there Crown College roared back. The Polars proceeded to upset MCC by a final score of 71-64. Leading Crown College was Anthony Knight, who tossed in 26 points.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 4th seeded NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STALLIONS fought it out with the 3 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE (Syracuse) BOBCATS – for the USCAA Division One title. At Halftime the Stallions clung to a 36-34 edge but after the break they made their move. NAU took the crown with an 89-74 triumph led by Jamarric Hammond’s Double Double of 21 points and 11 rebounds.
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The Cinderella 6 seeds – the MIAMI UNIVERSITY AT HAMILTON HARRIERS – kept on dancing in this clash with the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS. UC-Clermont watched their 43-32 advantage at the Half melt away as the Harriers came back to win the game 76-66. Kaleb Wanamaker led MU-Hamilton with a Double Double of THIRTY points and 12 rebounds.

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER TWO – The 11th ranked INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS visited the number 2 team in the nation – the BETHEL (IN) PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots). The Wildcats put Bethel U. on Upset Alert with their 47-37 Halftime lead, then consummated the Upset 96-86. Caedmon Bontrager led Indiana Wesleyan with 29 points.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring at least 100 points in Regulation: The (5) OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS edged the visiting UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS 103-102 ### Meanwhile, the (4) NELSON UNIVERSITY LIONS defeated the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS 106-96 ### And the (6) MALONE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS won 107-80 over the KENT STATE AT TUSCARAWAS GOLDEN EAGLES.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 2nd seeded WARRIORS from NELSON UNIVERSITY AT ARIZONA (formerly Nelson American Indian College) fought it out with the top seeds – the COLUMBIA INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY RAMS. Come Halftime things were knotted up at 43-43, but after the break the Warriors asserted themselves, pulling away from CIU for an 89-74 triumph. Harley Upton’s 24 points led NU-Arizona, while teammate Rob Jenkins logged a Double Double of 20 points & 11 rebounds.
CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 4th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) took the court against the 3 seeds – the VILLA MARIA COLLEGE VIKINGS. The Builders embarrassed Villa Maria College on both sides of the ball, leading them 33 to EIGHT (!) at Halftime. From there, the Apprentice School coasted to their 2nd National Championship in a row with a 64-43 victory. Chris Hinmon’s 16 points led the Builders, and teammate Donovon Means had a Double Double of 10 points & 10 rebounds.
