Okay, so it wasn’t an actual crossover, but Balladeer’s Blog still finds it pretty hilarious. Back in 2012, the Icelandic television station Channel Two aired an episode of the children’s show Teletubbies but accidentally attached the subtitles track from an episode of the adult-oriented, swearing and violence driven gangster series The Sopranos.
For context, The Sopranos episode in question was the 10th one from Season Four and dealt with Christopher being confronted about his drug use and his resulting negligent killing of the beloved dog. Yes, Dipsy, Laa-Laa, Po and Tinky-Winky spoke in their normal way, but for anyone with Closed Captions activated the dialogue reflected an entirely different conversation.
An alert viewer in Iceland recorded a brief example of the result. He didn’t even know that the captions were from The Sopranos, just that the dialogue was wildly inappropriate for Teletubbies. Below are some screenshots with the original language subtitles plus English translations:
And ...

To clarify how he killed the dog, “he sat on it while high”.

This should have started an enduring trend of people online synching up subtitles and visuals from hilariously different shows or movies just to see what gold nuggets could be sifted from the result. FOR HILARIOUS MISTAKES BY A.I. YOUTUBE CHANNELS CLICK HERE.
lol! This is very funny; what a mix-up! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! I was happy to do it!
This made me start laughing and I’m not sure why
Ha! Yeah, it’s a comical contrast!
Too funny! How those two ever ended up together we will never know. Hilarious post! Thanks!
Thanks! I agree that is puzzling!
Fascinating posts as always. I have been having a rough day and this post cheered me up so thanks for sharing. I remember watching the children’s show “Teletubbies” as a kid and enjoyed it quite a bit. I do find the contrast between the Teletubbies and the Sopranos dialogue to be hilarious. I am aware there is a trend of people mixing up subtitles from different shows/movies. I never knew that this trend could end up with such hilarious results. I definitely needed a laugh today and this was a perfect way to wrap up the day. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for telling me! It’s very nice of you and I’m glad this gave you a laugh!
