A.I. YOUTUBE CHANNELS CAN MAKE HILARIOUS SCREW-UPS

I’m far from the first person to be pointing out the absurd mistakes that A.I. can make when basically left on its own. Rather than devote this blog post to some of the potentially catastrophic errors that can be made via A.I. I will instead look at the jaw-dropping blunders made by YT channels that rely entirely on A.I. scripts and narration.

I’ll avoid the mistakes made on True Crime channels given how sad it is when A.I. screws up accounts of real-life murders, rapes and disappearances. Suffice it to say True Crime may well be the topic that most often falls victim to artificial intelligence’s inability to grasp subtleties or even pronounce basic words correctly.

In my experience second place would be held by YT channels that cover entertainment in the form of movie and television reviews of productions from decades ago. Some outstanding examples:

10 MOST EXPENSIVE TV FLOPS OF THE 1970s – This particular video is littered with the most frequent types of A.I. mistakes, like mispronouncing names or titles and absurdly inappropriate selection of photographs to accompany the error-filled narration.

This video distinguishes itself with one long sustained blunder that had me laughing like hell and astounded at the massive mistake at the same time. On the video below go straight to the 15:38 time mark for the entry on W*A*L*T*E*R, as in Walter “Radar” O’Reilly from M*A*S*H. Then, prepare to have your mind blown not only by the screw-ups but the monumental lack of quality control. Click HERE.

10 CARTOONS FROM THE 1970s SO WILD THEY WERE BANNED – Okay, this little honey is in a class by itself. For starters, the A.I. speech text repeatedly says years in the soulless yet clueless way of a true machine. For instance, “1972” is pronounced “One thousand nine hundred and seventy-two.” And it’s done with EVERY reference to a year during the video.

Suppose a television station or network received 100 complaint calls in the first hour after a questionable cartoon broadcast. In this video we’re told they received “ten zero” complaint calls.

The true appeal of this item comes in the way A.I. cannot distinguish between genuine data and the eerie lore invented out of whole cloth by the authors of online Creepypastas regarding the cartoons being discussed.

Prepare to fluctuate between grounded recounting of actual events and the disturbing excesses plucked from fictional horror versions of the subject matter. And all conveyed in the serene, unconcerned voice we’ve come to loathe about A.I. For the laughs click HERE.

  3. What an interesting and amusing topic! I’ve become aware of AI now (and have to avoid doing what it uses in book reviews), so this is fascinating stuff! Going to take a look at that error-filled narration now; it sounds hilarious!

Wonderful posts as always. I am not very familiar with A.I. but as always found your post to be extremely interesting. It is true that A.I. is a technology that has taken over the world today. It comes with benefits for sure but also has glaring drawbacks. There have been many amazing movies made on A.I. which your post brought to mind. For instance, it reminded me of the film “Her” which I love. Spike Jonze’s movie captured the romantic relationship between a man and his A.I. operating system. One of my favourite films about artificial intelligence of all-time.

Here’s why I recommend it strongly:

I am lost in a different world while reading your posts. I loved this post, too.
