SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK (1956)

SHAKE, RATTLE AND ROCK! (1956) – Rocksploitation at its campiest! In this hilariously bad movie Rock and Roll music is blamed for the Juvenile Delinquency epidemic of the 1950s.

Not only does one particularly irrational city ban rock music completely but it puts the local rock DJ ON TRIAL for playing rock and roll records!

They hold him accountable for the vandalism and other JD activities that hit the town because, by their logic, the “wild” music he played CAUSED the teenagers to commit their crimes.

This 72-minute flick is uproariously bad and stars Mike Connors in his “Touch” Connors phase as the scapegoated Disc Jockey. Plus you get Fats Domino and Margaret Dumont in the same film! How can you resist?

  2. Footloose ain’t got nothing on Shake, Rattle on Rock. Sounds terrible, thanks for sharing.

  3. The film was about an era when some types of music were prohibited and considered by some extremists to be the flute of the devil

  5. I enjoy these old movie reviews. It’s funny how these campy movies often develop cult followings. It also makes me realize how many blockbuster movies, such as “Footloose,” are built upon/inspired by these movies from the past. Thanks!
