Arizona Christian Univ helmet GOODACU CONQUERS DIVISION TWO – The annual tradition of NAIA college football teams upsetting teams from higher divisions has continued every week so far in 2022. Yesterday the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM visited NCAA Division Two’s FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS. The Firestorm stunned the Skyhawks, leading them 28-9 at Halftime before winning the game 52-12.

Missouri S&T Miners helmet MINERS TOPPLE DIVISION ONE – In a similar vein, NCAA Division Two’s MISSOURI S&T MINERS traveled to face Division One’s DRAKE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS. This much tighter game saw a scoreless 1st Quarter followed by a 7-0 Miners edge at the Half. The Bulldogs came back to tie things up 14-14 in the 4th Quarter. In Overtime, Missouri S&T won out 17-14.

Whitewater Warhawks helmet newNUMBER ONE TAKES A FALL – Down in NCAA Division Three, the 6th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS welcomed the number 1 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS. A 7-7 opening Quarter tie became a 14-10 midpoint lead for the Warhawks. The Crusaders went up 24-21 in the 3rd, but with 13 seconds left in the 4th, UW-Whitewater won the game 28-24. 

Virginia Union PanthersDOWN GOES NUMBER TWO – In D2, the VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS were on the road at the 2nd ranked VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS. The Panthers put the Blazers on Upset Alert at Halftime with their 24-20 advantage. The 3rd Quarter ended with Virginia Union on top 31-27 before the Panthers consummated the Upset 45-40 in the 4th.

Trinity Tigers NEWOT UPSET OF NUMBER EIGHT – Back down in D3, the number 9 TRINITY (TX) TIGERS welcomed the 8th ranked WHEATON COLLEGE THUNDER. A 7-7 tie at the Half turned into a 10-10 deadlock to end Regulation. In Overtime, a missed PAT was the difference, as the Tigers won it 17-16.  

HELMETCARLETONSPIRIT OF EIGHTY-FOUR – Staying in D3 for a moment, the CARLETON COLLEGE KNIGHTS played host to the CROWN COLLEGE (MN) POLARS. The Knights seized a 35-8 lead in the 1st Quarter and never looked back from there. When all the dust had settled Carleton College made the Polars their prison brides to the tune of EIGHTY-FOUR to TWENTY.   

Williamson Trade HelmetUSCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In this clash from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS visited the NEW JERSEY WARRIORS. The Mechanics led 6-0 in the 1st Quarter, a score which remained unchanged at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with Williamson on top 14-0 and the 4th saw the Mechanics win it 20-0.

HillsdaleHILLSDALE HOME STAND – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS welcomed the WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS yesterday. Neither team scored in the opening Quarter, but the Cavaliers went on top 14-7 by the break. The Chargers cut that to a 17-14 game in the 3rd Quarter, then exploded in the 4th for a 35-17 triumph.

NNAS_VAUSCAA OVER D3 – The USCAA’s NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (think Shipbuilders) took the field against their guests, D3’s BREVARD COLLEGE TORNADOES. The Builders’ defense limited the Tornadoes to just 7 points in the 3rd Quarter. Meanwhile, NNAS notched 7 points each in the first 2 Quarters and 13 points in the 4th for a 27-7 victory.

Mayville State CometsNAIA OVER NCAA D3 – The MAYVILLE STATE COMETS survived a 55-48 Overtime visit from the NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES    ###    Elsewhere, the WALDORF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS crushed their guests the SIMPSON COLLEGE STORM by a final score of 54-21   ### And the IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS won 41-6 at the WESTMINSTER (MO) BLUE JAYS. 

Concordia Moorhead CobbersNCAA D3 OVER NAIA – The CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS took it on the road against the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (should be Angels) and more than tripled up on them 42-13    ###    And the WHITWORTH COLLEGE PIRATES triumphed 33-7 over the visiting EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. 

Arizona Christian University’s win over an NCAA Division TWO team is worth 2 wins, so the NAIA wins out for the third week in a row, this time 5 games to 2.


Saint Thomas FL Bobcats helmetUPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be Tomcats) shocked the 12th ranked SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS 31-10 in their own house   ###   Meanwhile, the (17) UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS beat the (16) DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS 35-14   ###   And the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR toppled the (22) CULVER-STOCKTON WILDCATS 26-0.

Tabor_KSONE-POINT WONDER – This game pitted the traveling TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS against the MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs). A 3-3 1st Quarter tie turned into a 17-3 Blue Jays advantage by Halftime. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter, and Tabor College had to hold on tight in the 4th for a 17-16 win.

Southwestern College Moundbuilders NEWSHUTOUTS – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS sent the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES back home reeling from a 65-0 beatdown   ###   Elsewhere, the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES won 49-0 at the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS   ###   And the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS crushed the OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be Okies) 52-0.

Clarke Pride helmetWE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The CLARKE UNIVERSITY PRIDE found themselves on the road against the CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES. “Defense” was the word of the day as neither team scored in the entire 1st Half and the only points scored in the 2nd Half came from a Pride field goal. Clarke U won 3-0. 

Benedictine RavensHOLDING SERVE – The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS routed the visiting PERU STATE BOBCATS by a score of 31-7   ###   And the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS survived a 31-26 visit from the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES.   


Ottawa (AZ) SpiritHAPPY HOME STAND – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT took the field against the visiting SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. The 1st Half was mostly defense and ended with the Spirit leading the Lions 13-6. From there Ottawa University outscored SAGU 26-6 to win the game 39-12.

Campbellsville UniversityBLOWOUTS – The CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be Burgundy Tigers) won a 42-14 road blowout at the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS    ###    And the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS lost a 54-33 game against the UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS.

Greenville College PanthersWIN IT BY TEN – The GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS welcomed the ROCKFORD UNIVERSITY REGENTS on Saturday. The Panthers were on top 14-7 at the break and 31-7 to end the 3rd Quarter. A Regents rally in the 4th Quarter fell short as Greenville U won out 40-30.

Bethel (TN) WildcatsFAMINE TO FEAST – This game saw the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS playing host to the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS. The Skyhawks logged the only points of the 1st Half with a Field Goal. From there the Wildcats offense finally got going as Bethel U wound up with a 28-3 victory.

Concordia_MIBIRDS AND THE BEES – On Saturday the CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS took the field against their guests the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES. A 6-0 1st Quarter lead for the Cardinals was cut to a 13-10 edge by the Fighting Bees come Halftime. Concordia dominated the 2nd Half to win the game 41-24.


Saginaw Valley State helmetOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SAGINAW VALLEY STATE CARDINALS knocked off the number 11 BOWIE STATE BULLDOGS in a very lopsided 40-12 affair    ###    And the KUTZTOWN STATE GOLDEN BEARS defeated the 18th ranked CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS (as in the Roman god Vulcan) 24-19.

Black Hills StateDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – Yesterday the BLACK HILLS STATE YELLOW JACKETS played host to the WILLIAM JEWELL UNIVERSITY CARDINALS. The Yellow Jackets grabbed a quick 14-0 lead in the opening Quarter and kept up the pressure from there. Black Hills State won the game by a final count of 38-19.  

Gannon Univ Golden KnightsNO COUNTRY FOR MARAUDERS – The GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS won 16-10 at the MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY MARAUDERS   ###   Elsewhere, the LINCOLN (PA) LIONS snuck past their hosts the CENTRAL STATE MARAUDERS 26-21   ###   And the WINONA STATE WARRIORS won a 25-17 home stand against the UNIVERSITY OF MARY MARAUDERS.

texas permian basinA DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – In this game the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS-PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS battled the WESTERN COLORADO UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. A 10-10 Halftime tie became a 24-24 deadlock to end the 4th Quarter. The first Overtime ended in a 31-31 tie but the Falcons won 34-31 in DOUBLE OVERTIME.

Arkansas TechARKAN-SASS – The ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS took the field against the visiting EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY TIGERS and routed them 35-13    ###    And the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS won a 40-17 beatdown of the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON.



Maritime College PrivateersMARITIME ON MARITIME VIOLENCE – The MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS were home against the MASSACHUSETTS MARITIME ACADEMY BUCCANEERS. The Privateers were chasing the Bucs 14-3 at the midpoint of the game. Maritime College shut out MMA from there to win the game 17-14. 

Claremont Mudd Scripps CollegeALL-NAME GAMES – The CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS COLLEGE STAGS demolished the visiting WHITTIER COLLEGE POETS 42-0   ###   Elsewhere, the SAINT NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS won a 21-14 thriller against the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN-STEVENS POINT POINTERS   ###   And the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS clobbered their hosts the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS 40-14.  

Washington and Lee GeneralsA GENERAL BUTT-KICKING – In this game the WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS traveled to face the SEWANEE UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTH TIGERS. The Generals parlayed a 10-0 1st Quarter lead into a 24-0 advantage by Halftime. After the break Washington & Lee continued owning Sewanee on both sides of the ball for a 44-0 triumph.

Pomona Pitzer SagehensONE-POINT WONDERS – The POMONA-PITZER COLLEGE SAGEHENS won a 21-20 nail-biter against the visiting REDLANDS COLLEGE BULLDOGS    ###    And the CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS snuck past their hosts the CAL LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN by a count of 42-41.


snow college badgers helmet… THE SIZE OF CHURCH BELLS – The number 10 SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS visited the 8th ranked BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES. The Badgers were on top 28-14 at the Half but the Grizzlies came back to force Overtime with a 42-42 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session Butler College notched 7 points, while Snow College scored a Touchdown and then, rather than go for a tie to extend OT play – WENT FOR TWO and got it for a 50-49 Upset win.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsCLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER TWO – In this game the 2nd ranked HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS took the field against the number 7 IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS. The Tritons led 21-7 in the 2nd Quarter but the Blue Dragons tied things up at 28-28 in the 4th. In OT Hutchinson College eked out a 31-28 victory to go 3-0 for 2022.

dodge city conquistadors NEWHAPPY HOME STANDS – The DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS welcomed the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES and doubled-up on them 28-14   ###   Meanwhile, the IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS annihilated the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS 43-13   ###   And the THADDEUS STEVENS COLLEGE BULLDOGS won 24-6 against the ERIE COLLEGE KATS.

New Mexico Mil Inst BroncosNUMBER ONE SURVIVES – The top ranked NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) faced the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS in this game. The Bulldogs seized a 21-7 1st Quarter lead but the Institute went up 27-21 by Halftime. From there NMMI held off Navarro College for a 40-35 victory.

Mesabi TechHOME AND AWAY – The MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE won authoritatively at home 44-20 against the MINNESOTA WEST TECH BLUE JAYS    ###    And the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS logged a 42-0 road victory over the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS.
