  1. I dunno why I read this. Not my normal fodder. And I don’t really give a snit for the NE Patriots. Which reminds me. Wonder how many other cancel culture dingbats are going to cause team, city, railway trains, yadda, yadda, rename from Arapaho to Accountants, Cougars to Constellations. &^%&*^ society, Black is a color. White is not a race. Ugly is not a gender. (&*()*&(*& [See the old geezer walk away, mumbling to hisself]

    Still an inneresting read,

    • Thanks for the comment and the wry wit, anyway. I agree about the obsessive renaming of teams and roadways, etc. Even just with sports teams it’s ridiculous. Eastern Michigan University went from the infinitely cool team name the Hurons after the Native American tribe to a bland name like the Eagles. Given the perpetually poor state of the American educational system there were likely people who only remembered the names of tribes like the Hurons, Sioux, etc BECAUSE they were sports team names, too.

  2. I saw an article that identified the top points scorers of the NBA for each decade, beginning with the 1940s. It was an amazing list, but I will have to believe that no one will ever beat the record of 100 points by Wil Chamberlain in 1962. He and Bill Russell were the most prominent players during their heyday.

  3. Sitting here laughing (at my lack of any sign of sports genes) and loving this!!! Thank You, Balladeer!!! 🤗💕🤣
