RANDOLPH-MACON CONQUERS DIVISION TWO – NCAA Division Three’s RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS borrowed a page from the NAIA by toppling a higher division team yesterday. The Yellow Jackets edged NCAA Division TWO’s EMORY & HENRY COLLEGE WASPS in a 34-31 thriller.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER SIX – Up in the NAIA the 14th ranked INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS hosted the number six team in the nation – the MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. The Wildcats put the Knights on Upset Alert from the beginning, with a 17-0 lead in the opening Quarter. They never looked back from there, ultimately winning a 41-7 blowout.
NUMBER EIGHT TAKES A FALL – Staying in the NAIA for a moment, the BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS welcomed the 8th ranked GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie remained unchanged at Halftime before the Tigers went up 16-7 in the 3rd Quarter. In the explosive 4th Quarter the Wildcats came from behind for a 25-24 triumph.
AND NUMBER NINE COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Down in NCAA Division Three the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES were visited by the number 9 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS. The Titans were on top 21-7 at the Half but were shut out after the break. The Eagles pulled to within 21-20 in the 3rd Quarter before winning it in the 4th 30-21.
USCAA FOOTBALL – In the United States Collegiate Athletic Association the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS led their guests the C.A.P.P. ACADEMY CRUSADERS 6-0 at Halftime before winning the game 20-6 ### And the WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS utterly mangled the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (as in Shipbuilders) 42-13.
TAKING DOWN NUMBER ONE – In NJCAA football the 4th ranked IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS visited the number 1 team in the nation – the SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS. The 1st Half was all-defense as neither team got on the scoreboard. In the 3rd Quarter the Reivers seized a 17-7 lead then held on against a Badgers in the 4th to win out 17-14.
HILLSDALE AT HOME – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took the field against the traveling WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS. A 3-0 Walsh edge in the opening Quarter became a 7-3 Chargers lead by the break. From there Hillsdale College shut out the Cavaliers for a 20-3 victory.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – This Saturday the only other Upset in the NAIA rankings came in the game between the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX and their guests, the 21st ranked UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS. The Phoenix led 7-3 in the 1st Quarter but the Patriots went up 10-7 by Halftime. A scoreless 3rd Quarter was followed by Cumberland University winning the game 14-10 in the 4th.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES managed a 34-28 OT victory over the visiting SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES ### And the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS defeated their hosts the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS 37-31 in DOUBLE Overtime.
UNHAPPY HOMECOMING – The MCPHERSON COLLEGE BULLDOGS (should be the Mastiffs) rained on the Homecoming celebrations of the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS yesterday. A 10-7 Halftime advantage for McPherson became 17-10 to end the 3rd Quarter and finally 24-17 in the 4th.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The OKLAHOMA PANHANDLE STATE AGGIES (should be the Okies) won 20-13 at the WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying Ws) ### Meanwhile the CONCORDIA (NE) BULLDOGS downed their hosts the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES 24-17 ### And the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES edged the home standing MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS 28-23.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – In this game the ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY LAKERS found themselves visiting the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. By Halftime the Lakers were on top 14-7. That turned into a 21-10 advantage over the Spartans in the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 34-17 triumph.
ROAD WARRIORS – The AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES traveled to take on the SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE and wound up routing them 34-10 ### The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM won a 55-21 blowout at the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS ### And the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (KS) BRAVES smacked down the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES 37-14.
A ROYAL VICTORY – The WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS took it on the road to face the FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY LIONS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 7-6 Royals lead at Halftime. From there Warner University dominated, ultimately defeating the Lions by a final tally of 31-12.
ROAD VICTORS – The STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS overwhelmed their hosts the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES in a 50-7 laugher ### Meanwhile the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS downed the SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS 45-38 ### And the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS surprised the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS 38-33.
NCCAA MAINSTAYS – This game pitted two storied NCCAA programs against each other as the GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 21-7 Panthers advantage by Halftime. The teams exchanged a Touchdown apiece in the 3rd Quarter before Greenville U won out 35-23.
DOUBLE THE POINTS – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS paid a visit to the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS. The Fighting Saints had doubled the Trojans’ points 28-14 at the Half and again to finish the game with a 42-21 victory.
HOME AND AWAY – At home the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Burgundy Tigers) defeated the UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS in a 31-28 Instant Classic ### And the OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT were away for their 48-6 beatdown of the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS.

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The WAYNE STATE (NE) WILDCATS toppled the number 10 team in the nation – the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS – 35-24 in their own house ### The WEST TEXAS A&M BUFFALOES routed the 19th ranked ANGELO STATE RAMS 31-15 ### And the SAGINAW VALLEY STATE CARDINALS won 20-17 at the number 20 TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS.
EAST MEETS WEST – The EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS visited the WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Greyhounds were chasing the Mustangs 26-23 at Halftime and 40-37 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th ENMU won this shootout by a final count of 50-47.
ALL NAME GAMES – The (24) UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-KEARNEY LOPERS crushed the MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS 35-14 ### Meanwhile the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA SAVAGE STORM won 38-24 at the SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS ### And the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS notched a 42-23 road victory over the NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS.
LET’S DO IT AGAIN – The BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUE continued to mark their first year back in intercollegiate football with a third victory. They welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF FORT LAUDERDALE EAGLES (should be the Flamingos). A 14-3 Big Blue advantage at the midpoint wound up as a 23-9 victory in the end.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The CONCORD UNIVERSITY MOUNTAIN LIONS edged the WEST LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS by a final score of 20-16 ### The UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES defeated the EMPORIA STATE HORNETS 45-38 ### And the SETON HILL UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS won 19-17 at the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The only other Upset in the D3 rankings came in the game between the CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS and the visiting 24th ranked WESTMINSTER (PA) TITANS. A scoreless opening Quarter was followed by the Tartans going on top 14-7 at the break. The Titans pulled to within 14-10 in the 3rd Quarter before CMU exploded in the 4th for a 34-10 triumph.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The METHODIST UNIVERSITY MONARCHS smacked around the LAGRANGE COLLEGE PANTHERS in a 34-17 affair ### Meanwhile the SIMPSON COLLEGE STORM won 68-34 over the LUTHER COLLEGE NORSE ### And the OHIO WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BATTLING BISHOPS took down the HIRAM COLLEGE TERRIERS 34-17.
A DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The FAIRLEIGH-DICKINSON UNIVERSITY AT FLORHAM DEVILS paid a visit to the LEBANON VALLEY COLLEGE FLYING DUTCHMEN. The Devils led 17-7 at Halftime but the Flying Dutchmen came back to force Overtime with a 24-24 tie. The first extra session ended in a 27-27 deadlock before FDU-Florham emerged with a 33-27 win in DOUBLE OVERTIME.
COOL NAME GAMES – The CONCORDIA-MOORHEAD COBBERS managed a hard-fought 34-27 road triumph over the MACALESTER COLLEGE SCOTS ### Meanwhile the LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS annihilated the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS 48-13 in their own house ### And the WABASH COLLEGE LITTLE GIANTS sent the OBERLIN COLLEGE YEOMEN back home reeling from a 49-20 beatdown.
ONE-POINT WONDER – The PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY LUTES ran up against the home standing LEWIS & CLARK COLLEGE PIONEERS. This was a Tale of Two Halves as the Lutes led 28-7 by the break but then had to hold on by their fingertips in the 2nd Half for a 38-37 victory.
OTHER RANKED TEAMS CLASH – Besides Iowa Western and Snow College the number 12 MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS were on the road against the 11th ranked LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS. By Halftime the Falcons were on top 21-14 but in the 3rd Quarter the Mustangs went up 28-21. The 4th ended in a 42-42 tie before Monroe College went on to win the game 49-48 in Overtime.
SHUTOUTS – The FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS welcomed the REZOLUTION (sic) PREP ACADEMY WILDCATS and manhandled them to the tune of 43-0 ### And the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS visited the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS and rubbed them out 49-0.
GETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Thursday night the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS traveled to play the MISSISSIPPI DELTA COLLEGE TROJANS. The Indians led 7-0, 14-0 and 27-6 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. The 4th Quarter saw Itawamba College triumph by a final tally of 34-21.
