COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM OCTOBER 2nd

Charleston Golden Eagles helmet NEWTOPPLING NUMBER SIX – In NCAA Division Two, the UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTON GOLDEN EAGLES played host to the number 6 team in the nation – the NOTRE DAME COLLEGE FALCONS (School Motto: “No, not THAT Notre Dame”). The Golden Eagles put the Falcons on Upset Alert with a 17-14 Halftime lead and ultimately won the game 38-28.

West Alabama Tigers helmet NEWNUMBER NINE FALLS, TOO – Staying in D2 for a moment, the 23rd ranked UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA TIGERS took it on the road against the country’s number 9 UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES. A 24-17 lead for the Tigers at the break ended up in a 38-20 Upset victory for them.   

erskine flying fleetHISTORY IN THE NCCAA – The ERSKINE COLLEGE FLYING FLEET, in their very first year of intercollegiate football, notched their first ever victory yesterday. It came against their guests the VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG DRAGONS. The Flying Fleet were chasing the Dragons 7-3 in the opening Quarter but were on top 24-7 come Halftime. They never looked back on their way to a 59-13 blowout.

Dickinson State Blue Hawks helmet NEWSEVENTY – In the NAIA the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS took the field against the visiting PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS (should be the Angels). The Blue Hawks parlayed a 22-0 1st Quarter lead into a 36-7 advantage at the break, and ultimately a resounding SEVENTY to FOURTEEN smackdown of Presentation College.

HillsdaleHILLSDALE ON THE ROAD – NCAA Division Two’s storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS visited the (24) TIFFIN UNIVERSITY DRAGONS. The Chargers led 3-0, 10-7 and 24-7 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively but then had to hold on against a Dragons rally in the 4th to win it 24-21. 

Iowa Wesleyan CollegeNAIA OVER NCAA – The NAIA’s IOWA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TIGERS played host to NCAA Division Three’s CROWN COLLEGE STORM. The Tigers parlayed a 35-20 Halftime advantage into a 69-28 blowout victory. For 2021 the NAIA has won 3 weeks, NCAA Division Three has won 1 week and the teams tied 1 week.

Monroe College Mustangs helmetMONROE CONQUERS DIVISION TWO – From the NJCAA the MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS traveled to face the NCAA Division Two team the POST UNIVERSITY EAGLES, who are in their first year of intercollegiate football. The Mustangs showed no mercy, thrashing the Eagles 56-15 for going by the most overused nickname in college sports. (I’m kidding. But not about the score.)  

dean-college-bulldogs-helmet-newUSCAA GAME OF THE WEEK – In the United States Collegiate Athletic Association the THADDEUS STEVENS COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY BULLDOGS entertained the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS. A 13-0 Bulldogs lead at the Half ended in a 59-0 evisceration of the Mechanics.

Southern Oregon RaidersUPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS (Sea Gulls) toppled the visiting (18) EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS 24-3   ###   Meanwhile the ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS overcame their guests the (20) MONTANA WESTERN BULLDOGS 41-31   ###   And the CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS won 28-21 at the (23) COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES.

Siena Heights SaintsAND THE ANCHOR TOOK A FALL, TOO – The SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS paid a visit to the 25th ranked UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS. A 10-6 Halftime edge for the Cougars turned into a 20-10 Saints lead to end the 3rd Quarter. Siena Heights U won it in the 4th by a score of 27-17. 

Point University good helmetHAPPY HOMECOMINGS – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS won their Homecoming Game against the SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS 38-35   ###   The (1) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS clobbered their HC foes the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX 34-7   ###   And the (3) MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS won 59-14 over the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS (Lutherans).  

Kansas Wesleyan helmet NEWHEROES WORK HERE DAY – The (10) KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES celebrated Heroes Work Here Day with a game against the visiting UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES. By Halftime the Coyotes held a commanding 35-0 lead over the Spires. From there they coasted to a 49-7 triumph.

Peru_St_NE_OLD3ONE POINT WONDERS – The PERU STATE BOBCATS notched a 23-22 road victory over the EVANGEL UNIVERSITY VALOR   ###   Meanwhile the CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES won a 28-27 thriller at the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN  ###   And the HASTINGS COLLEGE BRONCOS edged their hosts the BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS by a count of 24-23.

Montana Tech Orediggers brand newTRAVELING OREDIGGERS – The MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS took it on the road against the MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS. The Lights were out in front 7-6 in the 1st Quarter but the Orediggers went up 20-7 by the Half. Montana State-Northern cut that to 20-13 to end the 3rd Quarter before Montana Tech won it in the 4th, 23-13.

NCCAA

Concordia_MICATS AND BIRDS – The CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS welcomed the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. The Cardinals led 14-0 in the opening Quarter but the Wildcats knotted things up at 14-14 going into Halftime. After the break Concordia U outscored Indiana Wesleyan 14-7 for a 28-21 victory.

Kentucky Christian GOOD helmetROAD KNIGHTS – In this game the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS visited the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS. By the midpoint the Bulldogs were on top 7-3 and 14-10 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th the Knights came from behind to win the game 25-21.

Ottawa (AZ) SpiritSHOOTOUT IN ARIZONA – The OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT took the field against the visiting ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM. Points flew like shrapnel as the Spirit led the Firestorm 14-7 in the 1st Quarter, 31-14 at the Half and 31-21 in the 3rd. Ottawa University put it away in the 4th with a 52-34 triumph.

saint-ambrose-university-fighting-bees-helmet-newHOME STANDS – The SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES took on the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS and defeated them 49-28    ###   And the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS led the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES by just 13-6 at the break but won the game 50-6.

Avila Eagles helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – This game pitted the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) against their hosts the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Warriors were on top 21-17 come Halftime but the Eagles/ Avalanche went up 27-24 in the 3rd Quarter before winning it 34-31. 

Saint Thomas FL Bobcats helmetROAD RAGE – The SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be the Tomcats) won a 46-29 rout at the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS    ###     And the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS ruined Homecoming for the JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES by crushing them 58-19.

NCAA DIVISION TWO

HELMET Sioux FallsOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS COUGARS knocked off the (12) AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY VIKINGS 28-26   ###   The FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS won 42-35 over the (15) UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA-KEARNEY LOPERS   ###   And the UNIVERSITY OF VIRGINIA AT WISE HIGHLAND CAVALIERS defeated the (16) LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS 35-28.

Colorado Mines Orediggers NEWWORKIN’ OVERTIME – In this game the 5th ranked COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS hosted the WESTERN COLORADO UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS on Saturday. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie remained unchanged at Halftime but the 3rd Quarter ended with the Orediggers on top 14-7. A 14-14 deadlock in the 4th was followed by Colorado School of Mines winning the game 20-14 in OT.

West LibertyONE POINT WONDERS – The WEST LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS snuck past the visiting GLENVILLE STATE PIONEERS by a score of 20-19    ###    And the WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY GOLDEN RAMS edged their guests the BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY HUSKIES in a 21-20 nail-biter.

New Haven Chargers helmetDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAVEN CHARGERS found themselves on the road against the PACE UNIVERSITY SETTERS (Irish Setters). The Setters led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter before the Chargers tied things up at 14-14 by the Half. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter the University of New Haven won the game 28-14.

IUP Crimson HawksALL NAME GAMES – The INDIANA UNIVERSITY IN PENNSYLVANIA CRIMSON HAWKS won a 28-23 Instant Classic over the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS   ###   Meanwhile the SOUTH DAKOTA M&T HARDROCKERS triumphed 45-42 at the ADAMS STATE GRIZZLIES   ###   And the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES downed their hosts the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM 27-24.

Arkansas TechON THE ROAD AGAIN – The ARKANSAS TECH WONDER BOYS paid a visit to the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM yesterday. The 1st Quarter ended with the Crimson Storm in the lead 14-7 before a huge 2nd Quarter saw the Wonder Boys go on top 44-21. From there Arkansas Tech coasted to a 51-41 triumph.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

Ithaca BombersWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 17 ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS played host to the 21st ranked HOBART COLLEGE STATESMEN. The Bombers led 14-7 at the midpoint but the Statesmen tied the score at 21-21 in the 3rd Quarter. From there Ithaca College won the game 28-21. 

Greenville College PanthersPUTTING IN OVERTIME – The GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS traveled to face the MARTIN LUTHER UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS and defeated them 21-14 in the extra session   ###   Meanwhile the MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY SPARTANS won a 27-24 OT affair at the FRANKLIN COLLEGE GRIZZLIES   ###   And the WABASH COLLEGE LITTLE GIANTS managed a 39-38 OT win at the DENISON UNIVERSITY BIG RED.

Augsburg Auggies helmetDOUBLE UP – This game pitted the AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES against the visiting SAINT OLAF COLLEGE OLES. A modest 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Auggies exploded into a 28-21 advantage by Halftime. After the break Augsburg U got more and more separation from the Oles, ultimately defeating them 56-28. 

HELMETTRINITYSHUTOUTS – The TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS achieved defensive perfection in a 28-0 rout of the MIDDLEBURY COLLEGE PANTHERS   ###   The LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS downed the CORNELL COLLEGE (IA) RAMS 17-0   ###   And the SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES devastated their hosts the CONCORDIA-MOORHEAD COBBERS to the tune of 49-0.

HELMETOHIONORTHERNBY A GNAT’S EYELASH – In this game the OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS welcomed the MARIETTA COLLEGE PIONEERS. A scoreless opening Quarter was followed by a 17-7 Polar Bears lead at Halftime. The Pioneers went on top 27-24 in the 3rd Quarter before ONU won the game 34-33 in the 4th.

Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves helmets NEWROAD WARRIORS – The NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES logged a 28-21 road win over the LUTHER COLLEGE NORSE   ###   Meanwhile the MILLSAPS COLLEGE MAJORS hammered the RHODES UNIVERSITY LYNX 42-21   ###   And the CARTHAGE COLLEGE FIREBIRDS handily defeated the MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY BIG BLUE in a 63-42 shootout.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsNUMBER EIGHT TAKES A FALL – The HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS found themselves on the road against the number 8 team in the nation – the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS. The Blue Dragons were clinging to a 7-6 edge in the 1st Quarter before the Broncbusters went up 13-7 by the Half. Hutchinson College made it a 13-10 game in the 3rd Quarter, then won it 24-16 in the 4th. 

East Central Warriors helmetGETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Thursday night the EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WARRIORS won a 17-14 Instant Classic over the visiting PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS   ###   The EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS won 30-21 at the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS   ###   And the NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS mauled the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS 31-17.

Vermilion College Ironmen helmetMEN OF IRON – The VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN hosted the MINNESOTA WEST TECH BLUE JAYS yesterday. The Ironmen led the Blue Jays 14-7 by Halftime, then after the break Vermilion College managed a bit more distance between themselves and their opponents for a 24-14 victory.

North Dakota State College of Science helmet NEWUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The NORTH DAKOTA STATE COLLEGE OF SCIENCE WILDCATS notched a 22-19 road win over the CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS (should be the Brainstorms)   ###   Meanwhile the NASSAU COUNTY COLLEGE LIONS edged the SUSSEX COLLEGE SKYLANDERS 20-17   ###   And the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN survived a 27-24 visit from the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS.   

dodge city conquistadors NEWCALL IT A CONQUEST – In this game the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS traveled to take on the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS. The Conquistadors dominated, leading the Greyhounds 40-17 by the break and then going on to a 61-34 smackdown win. 

Louisburg Hurricanes helmets NEWSHUTOUTS – The LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES blew away the visiting RAMAH PREP ACADEMY RAMS by a score of 42-0    ###     And the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS had their way with the ERIE COLLEGE KATS to the tune of 41-0.
