Here at Frontierado international headquarters things are as hectic as you would imagine with the Frontierado holiday coming up on Friday, August 6th. As always, Frontierado celebrates the myth of the old west, not the grinding reality. Here are some party essentials that help make your family’s Frontierado get-togethers special.
BUFFALO GAL – Balladeer’s Blog gets its Buffalo Steaks, Buffalo Burgers, Buffalo Chili and Buffalo Jerky from Buffalo Gal, which will ship to you wherever you are in the U.S. and abroad.
You can also buy Elk Meat, Wild Boar, Yak Meat and Swabian Hall Pork. There’s even Scottish Highlander Beef for those with more traditional appetites.
DEVILS RIVER BOURBON – Here’s one of the brands of whiskey that I like to drink either straight or mixed in my Cactus Jacks: Devils River (1840).
This Texas Bourbon is created with water drawn from Devils River (Devils is plural, so no apostrophe) and is 75% corn, 21% rye and 4% malted barley.
As usual I prefer Barrel Strength – I’m slamming down a 117 Proof bottle as I type – but naturally you’re free to make your own selections.
HORSE SOLDIER BOURBON – The distillers of this whiskey are U.S. veterans.
Horse Soldier Signature Barrel Strength has flavors of caramel, honey, butterscotch, woodiness, cashew and spiced raisin with just a hint of toffee. It carries with it aromas of honey, apples, citrus, toffee and leather.
Naturally, if Barrel Strength is too much for you, they have other proof levels.
IRON SMOKE BOURBON – Hunker down with some Iron Smoke Bourbon to help you and yours celebrate Frontierado.
The people at Iron Smoke amusingly call their cask strength bourbon “Casket Strength.” It’s ONE-HUNDRED TWENTY PROOF, making it the most potent potable on this list. This bourbon goes with any celebration.
Remember, to be a Frontierado Whiskey it’s got to have incomparable taste PLUS be strong enough to let you blow flies out of the air right after you take a drink.
FARO DEALING AND CHUCK-A-LUCK – Along with great meals and whiskey, old-fashioned gambling goes great with Frontierado celebrations. For reasonably authentic and affordable Faro and Chuck-A-Luck supplies for Frontierado get-togethers I often use River Junction Trade Company and others.
Sites like theirs also sell plenty of other supplies that will suit your needs for making your deck or party room look like a Wild West saloon or casino. Clothing, saloon chairs, era-appropriate whiskey glasses, you name it.
No guarantees implied on my part, I’m just letting readers know these places are out there. As always, my takes on potential food and drink and other items for Frontierado are unilateral decisions on my part. The companies involved are not endorsing that holiday OR Balladeer’s Blog.
How do you stand up after just writing the 4th through the 11th paragraphs?
Ha! Well, I didn’t drink the whole bottle.
I couldn’t resist commenting. Very well written!
Sounds like my kinds of parties! HAIL FRONTIERADO!
Thanks! You said it!
This is a fantastic website, might you be interested in doing an interview about how you created it? If so e-mail me!
Hey there! Would you mind if I share your blog with my myspace group? There’s a lot of people that I think would really appreciate your content. Please let me know. Thank you
I’m truly enjoying the design and layout of your website. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Superb work!
Today, I went to the beach front with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had to tell someone!
Very informative post.Really looking forward to read more. Awesome.
Hi! I just wanted to ask if you ever have any issues with hackers? My last blog (wordpress) was hacked and I ended up losing several weeks of hard work due to no data backup. Do you have any methods to stop hackers?
