NUMBER FOUR TAKES A FALL – In NCAA Division Three the CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS visited the number 4 team in the nation – the SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES. The Cobbers were on top 10-6 by Halftime but the Johnnies tied things up at 12-12 to force Overtime. In the extra session Concordia won the game 19-18 off a missed PAT by Saint John’s U.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER SEVEN – Up in NCAA Division Two the LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY LIONS welcomed the country’s 7th ranked UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Lions put the Greyhounds on Upset Alert with a 14-10 lead at the Half. From there Lindenwood University fulfilled the Upset by a final score of 34-27.
AND NUMBER EIGHT CAME TUMBLING AFTER – Back in D3 the number 25 UNION (NY) DUTCHMEN took it on the road against the number 8 ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS. A 10-7 1st Quarter edge for the Dutchmen became 17-14 by the break. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter Union went on to a 31-21 win over the Bombers.
BATTLE IN THE TOP FIVE – Down in the NJCAA the 5th ranked GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS took the field against the visiting number 4 HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS. The Blue Dragons were ahead 13-10 come Halftime. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter the Broncbusters came back to win this Instant Classic 20-19.
USCAA SPOTLIGHT – USCAA stands for United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS hosted the CAPP ACADEMY CRUSADERS and won a 21-14 thriller ### Meanwhile the DEAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS edged the ALFRED STATE PIONEERS 50-46 ### And the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS dismembered the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) 49-3.
FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT – The NAIA’s EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS faced an opponent from a higher division this week – the TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN TIGERS. Edward Waters College gave their guests almost more than they could handle, trailing them just 13-6 at Halftime and falling to them by a mere 27-26.

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The only Upset in the NAIA rankings yesterday came in the game between the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS and the visiting 14th ranked SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS. The Wildcats toppled the Saints in an exciting 28-21 affair.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The (23) STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS won in Overtime 20-17 over their guests the SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS ### And the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS used an extra session to take down the BETHANY COLLEGE SWEDES by a score of 34-31.
SENIOR DAY – The PERU STATE BOBCATS ruined Senior Day for the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN by defeating them 30-13 ### And the DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS ruined it for the HASTINGS BRONCOS 70-28 ### But the (13) BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS won their Senior Day 50-14 over the MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASKETBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS found themselves on the road against the BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS. Neither team seemed inclined to play defense as points flew like shrapnel. In the end the Knights won out SEVENTY to FIFTY-FOUR.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) won 19-14 at the TABOR COLLEGE BLUEJAYS ### The (21) DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS defeated their hosts the (25) WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS 30-28 ### And the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES downed the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) 28-26.
HOME AND AWAY – The OTTAWA (KS) UNIVERSITY BRAVES clobbered the visiting UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES by a final score of 39-3 ### And the BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS notched an impressive 51-14 road beatdown of the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS.

NUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – The LYON COLLEGE SCOTS visited the (2) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT on Saturday. The Spirit grabbed a 14-3 lead in the 1st Quarter but the Scots shut them out the rest of the way. By Halftime Lyon College pulled to within 14-11 then added 7 points in the 4th Quarter for an 18-14 Upset victory.
DOWN GOES NUMBER FIVE – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS traveled to take on the (5) KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Skyhawks took a commanding 20-0 lead at the Half. The Knights cut that to a 27-12 difference in the 3rd Quarter. 27-12 wound up as the final score, too.
‘BALLING THOMAS – The SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be the Tomcats) took it on the road against the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS. The Royals went up 21-10 in the 1st Quarter. That score was unchanged at the break but the Bobcats knotted things up at 31-31 to force Overtime. In OT Saint Thomas prevailed 38-31.
WINDY CITY WHUPPIN’ – The ROBERT MORRIS (IL) UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Wind Eagles) welcomed the TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS. The Eagles seized a quick 28-3 advantage in the 1st Quarter and never looked back. When the dust settled RMU had triumphed by a tally of 52-24.

HILLSDALE ON THE ROAD – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS traveled to face the ALDERSON-BROADDUS UNIVERSITY BATTLERS yesterday. The Chargers were out in front 28-7 by Halftime and then kept up the pressure, ultimately crushing the Battlers to the tune of 56-21.
ALL-NAME GAMES – The (23) HENDERSON STATE REDDIES won a 27-20 thriller at the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS ### Meanwhile the (20) UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS survived a 17-14 visit from the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS ### And the ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS trashed the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM 38-20.
SILVER CITY SHOWDOWN – The TEXAS A&M AT KINGSVILLE JAVELINAS faced the home-standing WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Javelinas trailed the Mustangs by a score of 23-14 at the Half, but by the end of the 3rd Quarter TAMK had knotted things up at 30-30. In the 4th the Javelinas won out 44-30.
ROAD WARRIORS – The MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS were paying a visit to the PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS and defeated them 35-21 ### And the COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDER WOLVES journeyed to take down the FORT LEWIS COLLEGE SKYHAWKS by a score of 21-13.

OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS toppled the home-standing 13th ranked UW-PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS 24-20 ### And the COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT GOLDEN EAGLES needed Overtime but upset the number 18 CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS by a final tally of 32-26.
ENGINEER ON ENGINEER VIOLENCE – The MASSACHUSETTS INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERS welcomed the WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS. A 9-9 Halftime tie became a 16-16 deadlock to end the 3rd Quarter. When the 4th ended in a 22-22 tie it took TWO OVERTIMES before MIT emerged with a 28-22 victory.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The MONMOUTH COLLEGE SCOTS took it on the road against the UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS and won a 21-20 Overtime thriller ### And the WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY CARDINALS did battle with the visiting WILLIAMS COLLEGE EPHS (“eephs”) and beat them in OT 27-21.
DOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The NORTH CAROLINA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BISHOPS did battle with the home-standing METHODIST UNIVERSITY MONARCHS. By Halftime the Bishops had compiled a 28-17 lead over the Monarchs, then parlayed that into a 48-24 triumph in the end.

TOPPLING NUMBER THREE – The NEW MEXICO MILITARY INSTITUTE BRONCOS (should be the Cavalry) traveled to face the number 3 team in the nation – the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS. The Broncos pulled off the Upset of the weekend, taking down the Rangers AND winning a spot in the Southwestern Football Conference Championship Game. The final score was NMMI 20 Rangers 10.
NUMBER SIX TAKEN DOWN – The number 11 IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS welcomed the country’s 6th ranked BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES yesterday. The Reivers led 9-6 by the break, then outscored the Grizzlies 14-7 in the 2nd Half for a 23-13 victory.
AVENGERS ENDGAME – The (16) ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS traveled to face the LOUISBURG COLLEGE HURRICANES. The Avengers led the Hurricanes 14-7 in the 1st Quarter then shut them out the rest of the way. ASA College kept adding on points themselves, though, defeating Louisburg 49-7.
ONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – The IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS smacked down the home-standing FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS by a score of 53-31 ### And the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES lambasted their guests the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES 61-14.
HAPPY HOMECOMING – The COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS played their Homecoming Game against the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS. A good time was had by everyone except the Ellsworth contingent as the Red Ravens dominated the Panthers to the tune of 30-13.
