DAY FOUR, GAME ONE: The first of three elimination games pitted the 5 seeds – the GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES – against the 9th seeded BELLEVUE (NE) UNIVERSITY BRUINS. The Grizzlies took charge right away, grabbing a 3-0 1st Inning lead that became a 4-1 advantage in the 4th.
From there Georgia Gwinnett College outscored the Bruins 5-2 for a 9-3 triumph behind the pitching of Gregory Loukinen. Gregory was on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings.
DAY FOUR, GAME TWO: In the 2 spot the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS took on the 3 seeds – the Defending National Champion SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE. A 4-0 Drovers lead in the 1st Inning turned into a Pitcher’s Duel for the next 4.
USAO expanded their lead to 5-0 in the 6th Inning but the Fire cut that to 7-4 in the 7th. The Drovers notched another Run on their way to an 8-4 dethronement of the champs. Jean Muntaner was the winning Pitcher.
DAY FOUR, GAME THREE: Next the top seeds – the TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS – faced the 6th seeded SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be the Tomcats). After a scoreless opening Inning the Bobcats went up 1-0 in the 2nd.
The 5th Inning saw the Bulldogs go on top 2-1 before Saint Thomas University knotted things up at 2-2 in the 7th. Tennessee Wesleyan College drove in a Run in the bottom of the 9th to win the game 3-2 for Pitcher Jerry Ochoa.
NJCAA DIVISION ONE
DAY FOUR: The IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS took the diamond against the CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE VAQUEROS. A 2-1 Reivers edge in the 1st Inning became a 5-1 lead in the 2nd.
From there Iowa Western College limited the Vaqueros to just 3 more Runs while their own bats stayed red-hot and pounded in Run after Run, Inning after Inning. In the end the Reivers triumphed in a FOURTEEN to FOUR smackdown behind the pitching of Jordan Bonk.
NJCAA DIVISION TWO
DAY FOUR: The 2 seeds – the MADISON COLLEGE WOLFPACK – played the 3rd seeded MESA COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Wolfpack went up 1-0 in the 2nd.
The 5th Inning saw the Thunderbirds tie things up 1-1, then take a 2-1 advantage in the 7th and 3-1 in the 8th. Mesa College forced Extra Inning with a 3-3 deadlock in the bottom of the 9th. Neither team scored in the 10th or 11th Innings, but in the 12th Madison College emerged with a 4-3 victory. Eliot Turnquist threw for the win.
NJCAA DIVISION THREE
DAY FOUR: The top seeded ROWAN COLLEGE AT GLOUCESTER COUNTY ROADRUNNERS fought it out with the 2 seeds – the BROOKHAVEN COLLEGE BEARS – for the right to face Cumberland County College in the title game.
A 1-0 Bears edge in the 2nd Inning became a 2-1 affair in the 3rd and 9-1 in the 4th. The Roadrunners stayed strong and fought back to a 9-9 tie in the 8th Inning. The 9th saw Rowan College at Gloucester County outscore Brookhaven College 2-1 tow in by a Polo Score of 11-10. The winning Pitcher was Nick Evangelista.
