DAY THREE, GAME ONE: The 3 seeds – the Defending National Champion SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE – took the diamond against the 8th seeded INDIANA TECH WARRIORS (should be the Hoplites). After 2 scoreless Innings the Warriors went up 2-0 in the 3rd.
The 5th Inning saw Indiana Tech make it a 4-0 advantage until the Fire cut that to a 4-3 edge in the 6th. The 9th Inning ended in a 5-5 tie, with Southeastern University eking out a 6-5 victory in the TENTH. Marc Soto pitched for the win in this elimination game.
DAY THREE, GAME TWO: In this game the 6th seeded SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS faced the 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS. A 2-2 tie in the 2nd Inning became a 4-2 Bobcats edge in the 3rd.
Saint Thomas University extended their lead to 6-0 in the 4th Inning but the Drovers shut them out from there. USAO drove in Runs in the 5th, 8th and 9th Innings, falling just short as the Bobcats won it 6-5. Pitcher Ian Exposito notched the W.
DAY THREE, GAME THREE: This elimination game pitted the 9 seeds – the BELLEVUE (NE) UNIVERSITY BRUINS – against the 10th seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS (should be the Explorers). The Warriors grabbed a 1-0 edge in the 1st Inning followed by a Pitcher’s Duel for the next 3.
In the 5th Inning the Bruins went up 2-1 and expanded that to 4-1 in the 8th. Lewis-Clark State could only muster 1 lone Run in the 9th Inning as Bellevue University won the game 4-2. Pitcher Colton Walker was on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings for Bellevue.
DAY THREE, GAME FOUR: Closing out Day Three, the top seeded TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS played the 5 seeds – the GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES. The Grizzlies took a 3-0 lead in the 2nd Inning but the Bulldogs were on top 6-3 by the 5th.
Tennessee Wesleyan College drove in 9 more runs the rest of the way compared to the 6 notched by Georgia Gwinnett College in an explosive 8th Inning. The Bulldogs got a 15-9 victory for Pitcher Irving Martin.
NJCAA DIVISION ONE
DAY THREE, GAME ONE: The CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE VAQUEROS clashed with the CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY STATE BUCCANEERS. The Buccaneers grabbed a 2-0 1st Inning lead which was cut to a 2-1 edge in the 2nd.
From there the Vaqueros shut out Chattahoochee Valley State while adding Runs of their own in the 3rd, 5th and 6th Innings for a 10-2 blowout win. The triumphant Pitcher was Jonathan Stroman.
DAY THREE, GAME TWO: The WALTERS STATE SENATORS found themselves up against the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS in this game. By the 3rd Inning the Bulldogs were ahead 3-0 before the Senators cut that to 3-1 in the 4th.
That became a 5-1 Navarro College advantage by the 6th Inning but Walters State roared back for 3 Runs in the 8th and 2 more in the 9th to win it 6-5. Jack Collins was the winning Pitcher.
NJCAA DIVISION TWO
DAY THREE, GAME ONE: The 5 seeds – the NORTHERN OKLAHOMA COLLEGE AT ENID JETS – took on the top seeded PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Wildcats went up 1-0 in the 2nd.
A 2-1 Pearl River College edge in the 3rd Inning turned into a 2-2 tie in the 5th. The Jets kept their opponents off the scoreboard the rest of the game while driving in 2 more Runs in the 7th Inning, ultimately emerging with a 4-2 triumph. Pitcher Brandon Hudson got the W.
DAY THREE, GAME TWO: In the 2 spot the MADISON COLLEGE WOLFPACK did battle with the 7 seeds – the NORTHEAST (NE) COLLEGE HAWKS. Defense was apparently optional in this game which started out with a 3-1 Wolfpack lead in the opening Inning and then unleashed the scoring floodgates.
By the 5th Inning Madison College had TWENTY-ONE Runs and the Hawks FOURTEEN! That football-sized point tally held up as the final score too. Patrick Foldy was the winning Pitcher.
NJCAA DIVISION THREE
DAY THREE – FIRST SEMIFINAL: The only game of Day Three in this Division saw the 3rd seeded CUMBERLAND COUNTY COLLEGE DUKES take on the top seeds – the ROWAN COLLEGE AT GLOUCESTER COUNTY ROADRUNNERS. Runs were driven in like shrapnel in THIS game, too, as the Roadrunners led 5-3 by the 2nd Inning.
The Dukes went on top 6-5 in the 3rd Inning but by the 8th Rowan College at Gloucester County was back out in front 8-7. Cumberland County College outscored the Roadrunners 8-5 the rest of the way for a 15-13 Polo Score triumph. The winning Pitcher was Jose Rodriguez.
Hoplites really would make a better name for Indiana Tech’s teams! You are right!
