CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
DAY TWO, GAME ONE: The 4 seeds – the TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS – took the diamond against the 8th seeded INDIANA UNIVERSITY AT SOUTH BEND TITANS. Neither team drove in a Run until the Titans grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 3rd Inning.
The Trolls pulled to within 2-1 in the 4th, then knotted things up at 2-2 in the 5th. The score remained deadlocked until the bottom of the 9th when Trinity Christian College won the game 3-2. Trolls Pitcher Bryan Vanderlee got the W.
DAY TWO, GAME TWO: The 7th seeded ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY LAKERS faced the 6 seeds – the SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES. Runs were easy to come by in this apparently “Defense-Free” game which found the Lakers leading 5-3 in the 1st Inning.
The Fighting Bees went up 7-5 by the 4th, then 10-9 by the time the 6th Inning ended. Roosevelt University retook the lead by a count of 12-11 in the 8th, but extra Innings were needed because of a 13-13 tie in the 9th. Neither team scored in the 10th, they both notched 2 Runs in the 11th and finally the Lakers won 17-16 in the 12th. Pierce Albright was the winning Pitcher.
ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS
DAY ONE, GAME ONE: The 2 seeds – the TALLADEGA COLLEGE TORNADOES – played the 3rd seeded FISHER (MA) COLLEGE FALCONS. The Tornadoes nabbed a 1-0 edge in the opening Inning.
A Pitcher’s Duel then ensued until the 5th, when Talladega College made it a 3-0 score. Two more Tornado Runs were logged in the 8th Inning, ending the scoring as Talladega College won a 5-0 Shutout. Julian Fitts threw for the victory.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO: The 4th seeded EDWARD WATERS COLLEGE TIGERS took on the 5 seeds – the COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS next. A 1-1 1st Inning tie became a 4-1 lead for the Bobcats in the 2nd.
The Tigers pulled to within 4-3 in the 4th Inning and made it a 4-4 tie in the 5th. From there Edward Waters College smacked in 3 more Runs in the 6th Inning and rode those to a 7-4 triumph behind Pitcher Levi Sigler.
The Trolls are a fantastic team! Very underrated!
