GOLDEN STATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
DAY ONE, GAME ONE: The 3 seeds – the HOPE INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY ROYALS – started things off against the 2nd seeded ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM. The Firestorm seized a quick 4-0 lead in the 1st Inning but the Royals made it a 4-2 game in the 2nd.
Arizona Christian University extended their lead to 5-2 in the 3rd Inning following which neither team scored in the 4th. Hope International U put up 5 more runs in the 5th Inning for a 7-5 advantage. The Royals notched 1 more run in the 9th to end the scoring, winning the game 8-5. Pitcher Henry Martinez got the W.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO: The 4th seeded WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS (should be the Guardians) took on the 5 seeds – THE MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Mustangs went on top 3-0 in the opening Inning with the Warriors cutting that to a 3-1 lead in the 2nd.
After a scoreless 3rd Inning both teams’ bats caught fire, driving in run after run the rest of the way. A 5-4 TMU edge in the 5th Inning became a 9-7 advantage for Westmont College in the 6th and ultimately a 13-13 tie to end the 9th.
The 10th Inning resulted in a 15-15 deadlock followed by no scoring in the 11th. In the 12th Inning the Warriors emerged with a 16-15 triumph. Nick Sablock pitched for the win.
Hope International is where I want to play.
