OPENING MATCH: COCA COLA VS LA INDIANA – The opening Match of the 2019 U.S. Open pitted Coca Cola – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Red Colossus – against La Indiana – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Indians.
La Indiana outperformed Coca Cola in the First Chukker, which ended with the Indians on top 3 Goals to 1. The Second Chukker saw La Indiana continuing their offensive strategy of involving all Four Horsemen at once, confusing the defense of the Red Colossus for a 5-2 lead.
In the Third Chukker Coca Cola began to counter the Indians’ offensive strategy and also got their own offense rolling, thwacking in 3 Goals to the 1 mustered by La Indiana. The score going into Halftime was Indians 6 Red Colossus 5.
Chukker number Four was dominated by Coca Cola on both sides of the ball. Not only did they shut out La Indiana but they notched 3 Goals of their own to take their first lead of the Match, 8-6.
In the Fifth Chukker the Red Colossus outscored their opponents 2 Goals to 1 for a 10-7 advantage. The Indians mounted a furious comeback attempt in the Sixth Chukker, scoring 3 unanswered Goals for a 10-10 tie, but from there Coca Cola knocked in 2 more Goals to emerge with a 12-10 victory.
Nacho Novillo Astrada led the Red Colossus with 6 Goals.

Polo is amazing to watch. It wold be amazing to watch actually in real life – I think it’s very graceful and powerful. And it’s an amazing team sport like no other because first the rider and the horse have to be a team and then they have to be a team with the other horse and rider pairs.
It must be a beautiful feeling.

And the horses always look so sexy.
