COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 1st

Concordia_MIYET ANOTHER NAIA TEAM DEFEATS AN NCAA D2 TEAM – The NAIA’s CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS took it on the road to face the NCAA Division Two team the MALONE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. The higher division Pioneers were at home, too, but none of that mattered as the Cardinals showed Malone how football is played in the NAIA. Concordia won the game 42-27. 

Morehouse Maroon Tigers helmetDIVISION TWO OVER DIVISION ONE – NCAA Division Two’s MOREHOUSE COLLEGE MAROON TIGERS likewise played at a higher division team yesterday. In this case the Maroon Tigers traveled to face NCAA Division One’s UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT PINE BLUFF GOLDEN LIONS. By Halftime Morehouse had the Golden Lions on Upset Alert with a 28-20 lead and followed through with a 34-30 victory.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsNUMBER FIVE GOES DOWN – In the NJCAA the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS were on the road against the number 5 team in the nation – the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES. A 14-7 Blue Dragons lead in the opening Quarter turned into a 37-7 advantage at the break and ultimately a 37-27 win for Hutchinson College. 

NNAS_VAUSCAA OVER NCAA – The NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (formerly the Shipbuilders) from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) visited the NCAA Division Three GREENSBORO COLLEGE PRIDE. The Builders converted a 7-0 1st Quarter lead into a 26-6 Halftime advantage. From there NNAS coasted to a 34-13 triumph. 

Allen University Yellow JacketsBACK ON THE GRIDIRON – The ALLEN UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS have brought back football and yesterday they played their first pigskin matchup since 2005. The Yellow Jackets hosted the COLUMBUS STATE COUGARS (CT). Like riding a bike it all came back to Allen University, who clobbered their opponents 47-3.

Arizona Christian Univ helmet GOODNAIA OVER D3 – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM out of the NAIA welcomed the NCAA D3 team the SUL ROSS STATE LOBOS and completely scorched them 42-20   ###    And the NAIA’s SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS defeated D3’s homestanding AUSTIN COLLEGE KANGAROOS by a score of 37-28. 

St Thomas University TommiesD3 OVER NAIA – Perennial D3 powers the 3rd ranked UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS (MN) TOMMIES played host to the NAIA’s TRINITY INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY TROJANS, crushing them to the tune of SEVENTY-SIX to SEVEN   ###    And D3’s HENDRIX COLLEGE WARRIORS beat the visiting LYON COLLEGE SCOTS in a 37-27 affair.  

With the above 2-2 results the Concordia victory over a higher division NCAA team gives the NAIA the win this week.

Evangel CrusadersDOWN GOES NUMBER TEN – The EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS improved to 2-0 yesterday in their game against the traveling number 10 team in the country – the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS (should be the Zebras). The Ozark, MO crowd got treated to a 28-20 upset win for the Crusaders.

Saint Mary SpiresOTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT MARY SPIRES toppled the (18) TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS in a 13-10 Instant Classic   ###    Meanwhile the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) notched a 38-34 road win over the (17) STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS   ###    And the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL WARRIORS crushed the (19) CAMPBELLSVILLE U TIGERS 45-9.

saint-ambrose-university-fighting-bees-helmet-newNUMBER TWENTY-FIVE GETS STUNG – The SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES were on the road against the 25th ranked DAKOTA STATE TROJANS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 21-21 Halftime deadlock. After the break the Fighting Bees took complete control, smacking down the Trojans by a final score of 49-27. 

Montana Tech Orediggers brand newROAD ROUTS – The MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS visited the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES and proceeded to hand them a 36-16 drubbing   ###   The DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS utterly hammered the WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS 61-40   ###   And the (21) KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES clobbered the TEXAS WESLEYAN RAMS 42-7. 

Cumberland Phoenix helmetWORKIN’ OVERTIME – In this game the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX welcomed the UNION (KY) COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Phoenix trailed the Bulldogs 6-0 in the 1st Quarter but tied things up at 21-21 by Halftime. A 28-28 deadlock ended the 4th Quarter with Cumberland University winning it 31-28 in OT.  

NCAA DIVISION TWO

Kutztown Golden Bears helmetUPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – There was only one upset in the Top 25 rankings for Division Two on Saturday. The KUTZTOWN UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BEARS found themselves on the road against the number 20 team in the nation – the ASSUMPTION COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS. In the end the Golden Bears won a 32-28 nailbiter against their hosts.

HillsdaleHILLSDALE STRONG – After a two and a half hour lightning delay the HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS took the field against their guests the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS. The Chargers were on top 7-3 at Halftime and 14-3 in the 3rd Quarter before going on to win the game by a final tally of 14-9.

Concord UniversityUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The CONCORD (WV) UNIVERSITY MOUNTAIN LIONS visited the WEST VIRGINIA WESLEYAN BOBCATS and won a 34-31 thriller   ###    Meanwhile the COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS defeated the SOUTH DAKOTA M&T HARDROCKERS by a score of 36-33   ###   And the VIRGINIA UNION UNIVERSITY PANTHERS survived a 34-28 invasion by the SETON HILL UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS.

Lincoln (MO) Blue Tigers helmetTRUE BLUE – The LINCOLN (MO) UNIVERSITY BLUE TIGERS traveled to take on the LANE COLLEGE DRAGONS on Saturday. The Blue Tigers pounced early with a 3-0 edge in the opening Quarter. Halftime found Lincoln U leading the Dragons 10-7, following which the Defenses dominated in the 2nd Half, making 10-7 the final score as well.

CSU-PuebloALL-NAME GAMES – The (13) COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDER WOLVES were poor hosts to the DIXIE STATE RED STORM, eviscerating them by a score of 56-14   ###   And the SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCKETS outlasted the visiting KENTUCKY STATE THOROBREDS in a 38-31 Instant Classic. 

NCAA DIVISION THREE 

Wesley_DEWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 9 team in the nation – the WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES – played host to the 17th ranked DELAWARE VALLEY UNIVERSITY AGGIES yesterday. The Wolverines were on top of the Aggies 6-3 in the 1st Quarter and 13-10 at the Half. After the break Wesley College shut out Del-Val while adding 21 points of their own for a 34-10 victory.

St Olaf OlesROAD WARRIORS – The SAINT OLAF COLLEGE OLES took it on the road against the CROWN COLLEGE STORM and went back home with a 49-14 blowout win   ###    Meanwhile the MARITIME COLLEGE PRIVATEERS won 36-8 at the MAINE MARITIME MARINERS   ###    And the MCDANIEL COLLEGE GREEN TERROR clobbered their hosts the CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CARDINALS 27-12.

Washington and Lee GeneralsWORKING OVERTIME – In this game the WASHINGTON & LEE UNIVERSITY GENERALS traveled to take on the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS. The Red Devils grabbed a 7-0 edge in the 1st Quarter and that score was unchanged at the break. The Generals tied things up at 7-7 in the 3rd Quarter and the 4th ended in a 10-10 deadlock. In the extra session Washington & Lee won it 16-10.

HELMETSHEIDELBERGALL-NAME GAMES – The HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES won a 21-17 Instant Classic against the visiting OLIVET COLLEGE COMETS   ###   The CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS, meanwhile, obliterated the SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS (Should be the Danites) 38-9   ###   And the PUGET SOUND UNIVERSITY LOGGERS logged a 45-35 road win over the CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS STAGS.

Curry ColonelsA TALE OF TWO COLONELS TEAMS – The CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS did battle with their guests the DEAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS and defeated them in a 44-41 nailbiter   ###     And the WILKES UNIVERSITY COLONELS fell to the visiting HARTWICK COLLEGE HAWKS by a score of 28-24. 

NJCAA

Iowa Western reiversRANKED TEAMS ROLLING – The (2) IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS survived a visit from the IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS. A 12-7 Halftime edge for the Reivers ended up as a 26-20 Iowa Western College victory.   ###   And the (3) ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS won a 10-7 nailbiter at the (15) GEORGIA MILITARY COLLEGE BULLDOGS. 

ASA CollegeAVENGERS BOUNCE BACK – The 12th ranked ASA COLLEGE (NY) AVENGERS evened their record at 1-1 yesterday in their game at NAPS RHODE ISLAND. The Naval Station Newport crowd was kept very quiet as the Avengers dominated on both sides of the ball in a 37-7 smackdown.

garden-city-broncbusters-helmet-newHAPPY HOMESTANDS – The number 10 GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS more than doubled up on the visiting DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS, trashing them 52-24   ###    The MONROE COLLEGE MUSTANGS beat the NEW JERSEY WARRIORS 24-8   ###   And the SCOTTSDALE COLLEGE FIGHTING ARTICHOKES routed the PHOENIX COLLEGE BEARS 45-18.

Coffeyville Red Ravens helmetSHOOTOUT IN KANSAS – The COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS were on the road against the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS. A 33-21 Red Ravens lead at Halftime was cut to just 36-34 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th Coffeyville College held on to defeat the Greyhounds 50-47. 

Eastern Arizona CollegeSHUTOUTS – The (20) EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS played host to the PIMA COLLEGE AZTECS and sent them back home reeling from a 21-0 loss   ###    And the (4) SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS proceeded to fold, spindle and mutilate the USA REVOLUTION to the tune of SEVENTY-FIVE to NOTHING!

Fond du lac Thunder helmetKINGS OF THE ROAD – The FOND DU LAC TRIBAL COLLEGE THUNDER traveled to face the RIDGEWATER COLLEGE WARRIORS and hammered them 32-6   ###   Meanwhile the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES won a 17-10 thriller at the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS   ###   And the MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE smacked down the MINNESOTA TECHNICAL COLLEGE SPARTANS 48-6.
