BIBLE COLLEGE NIT
DAY ONE, GAME ONE – The 4 seeds – the MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS – took the court against the 5th seeded DAYSPRING BIBLE COLLEGE EAGLES (I told you there are too many teams called Eagles).
This was a tight game at the break, as the Mustangs held a slim 34-30 edge over the Eagles. In the 2nd Half Mid-Atlantic Christian University asserted themselves, getting more and more separation from Dayspring Bible College, ultimately winning the game by a score of 74-55. DaQuon Copeland tossed in 15 points to lead the Mustangs.
DAY ONE, GAME TWO – This game pitted the 3rd seeded JOHNSON UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA SUNS against the 6 seeds – the APPALACHIAN BIBLE COLLEGE WARRIORS.
The Suns so thoroughly eclipsed the Warriors in the 1st Half that by the midpoint JU-Florida led them by an unbelievable score of FORTY-FOUR to SEVEN (Yes, seven!). After the break the Suns coasted to a lopsided 95-39 blowout victory led by Garriot Jones and Jaymeke Smith, who notched 20 points EACH.
DAY ONE, GAME THREE – Closing out Day One was this clash between the 2 seeds – the TRINITY BAPTIST COLLEGE EAGLES – and the 7th seeded WORD OF LIFE BIBLE INSTITUTE (NY) HUSKIES.
The Eagles took care of business as a 2 seed would be expected to over a 7 seed and led the Huskies 37-20 by Halftime. Trinity Baptist College came out for the 2nd Half like they were on fire and proceeded to eviscerate Word of Life Bible Institute to the tune of NINETY-SIX to FIFTY-TWO! Thirteen Eagles scored, led by Kaleb Botts with 17 points.
USCAA DIVISION TWO
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The top-seeded Defending National Champions – the BERKELEY COLLEGE OF NEW YORK KNIGHTS – squared off against the 5th seeded PENN STATE AT BRANDYWINE LIONS.
The Knights slapped the Lions down hard from early on and kept them there. By Halftime Berkeley College was on top of PSU-Brandywine by an astonishing score of SIXTY to TWENTY-SEVEN! From there the Knights coasted to victory by a Century Club-level score of 107 to 85. Ricardo Ayuso’s THIRTY-TWO points led Berkeley to the win.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – The 3 seeds – the VILLA MARIA COLLEGE VIKINGS – took the court against the Cinderella 7 seeds – the WARREN WILSON COLLEGE OWLS.
The Owls put a scare into the Vikings and their faithful with a 46-39 lead at the break. Villa Maria College got serious in the 2nd Half, coming back for a 105-99 Century Club-worthy triumph. Twenty-nine points from the Vikings’ Dominic Douglas led VMC.
