NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION
FIRST QUARTERFINAL – The 7 seeds – the VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS – put the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES on Upset Alert with a 39-36 Halftime edge.
From there the V-Hawks eked out a little bit more separation from the Jimmies, advancing to the Semifinals with a 79-73 stunner. Ethan Haberman led Viterbo University with a Double Double of 26 points and 11 rebounds.
SECOND QUARTERFINAL – Up next the 4th seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS clashed with the 5 seeds – the WALDORF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS.
A 33-31 advantage for the Comets over the Warriors was the result by the break. The 2nd Half saw Mayville State add to their lead for a final tally of 75-68. Gorg Alhag of the Comets tossed in THIRTY-TWO points and notched 7 rebounds to lead the victors.
THIRD QUARTERFINAL – This game pitted the 3 seeds – the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS – against the 6th seeded DAKOTA STATE TROJANS.
The Blue Hawks smothered the Trojans in the 1st Half of this battle of DSU’s, leading them 39-18 (yes, eighteen) by Halftime. After the break Dickinson State could simply coast to victory by a final score of 79-59. Marcus White of the Blue Hawks led the way with his 16 points and 7 rebounds on the night.
FOURTH QUARTERFINAL – And wrapping things up for the Quarterfinal Round in the NSAA was a battle between the top seeded BELLEVUE (NE) UNIVERSITY BRUINS and the 8 seeds – the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS.
The Bruins faithful couldn’t help but feel a small bit of concern at the Half with their team trailing the Vikings by a tight score of 32-31. Bellevue University woke up enough in the 2nd Half to muster a 64-60 win. Leading the Bruins was Jalen Hall with 20 points.
APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The two Cinderellas battled each other in this game. The 7th seeded TRUETT MCCONNELL UNIVERSITY BEARS faced the 6 seeds – the BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS.
The Bears had the Rambling Rams on the run by Halftime with an insurmountable 49-27 lead. After the break Bluefield College nibbled in to that a tiny bit for a final tally of Truett McConnell University 76 Rambling Rams 60. Jacob Booke’s 22 points led the way for the Bears.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the top seeds – the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS – against the 5th seeded MONTREAT COLLEGE CAVALIERS.
Unlike the 1st Semifinal this was an Instant Classic, with the teams knotted up at 36-36 by the break. The 2nd Half was just as tight but in the end the Bulldogs slipped past the Cavaliers with a 72-70 triumph. K.J. Duronslet led Union College with 15 points and 9 rebounds.
