Balladeer’s Blog’s readers demanded it, so here are even MORE cool football helmets from neglected teams.
AMARILLO SANDIES
Comment: The unique name “Sandies” combined with the Marvin the Martian-style mascot made these helmets a must.
DUMAS DEMONS
Comments: Now these are helmets that will help you psych-out your opponents, especially if they are superstitious by nature.
MONTEREY PLAINSMEN
Comment: I really like these helmets with their Columbia Blue shell mixed with a subtle nod to the American West.
BURLESON ELKS
Comment: Now THAT’S what I’m talking about! A fairly unique team name and kickass helmets to go with it!
NORTH SIDE STEERS
Comment: Nothing says Texas like these eye-catching lids that nicely complement the cool team name.
WICHITA FALLS COYOTES
Comment: You have got to appreciate the sheer intimidation value of these particular helmets.
JOSHUA OWLS
Comment: Who would you say is wiser – owls or the people who decided to go with these helmets for a team called the Owls?
SOUTH HILLS SCORPIONS
Comment: For the hundredth time I will ask why more sports teams don’t use the infinitely cool name Scorpions.
JEFFERSON FOXES
Comment: Not the greatest helmets I’ve ever seen for a team called the Foxes, but not the worst, either.
FORT WORTH POLYTECHNIC PARROTS
Comment: I’ll come right out and admit it – it was the unique team name rather than the admittedly mundane helmets that put these guys on this list.
The Parrots were a real sellout addition dude.
I know, but what can ya do?

I’m torn between the Sandies and the Elks.
I can understand that.
The Sandies are pretty awesome!
I know what you mean!
