THE LATEST COLLEGE BASEBALL PLAYOFF RESULTS

HUTCHINSON BRACKET: DAY TWO – The 2nd seeded TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS eliminated the 5 seeds – the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS – with a run in the bottom of the 9th Inning for a 4-3 victory.   ###    Then in the late game the Blue Jays sent the 4th seeded MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS home, beating them 3-1.   ###    And the top seeded UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS stayed perfect with a 3-0 shutout of the 3rd seeded WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be Flying W’s).  

JAMESTOWN BRACKET: DAY TWO – The 3 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES – survived two Elimination Games. First the Jimmies came back from a 5-1 deficit in the 3rd Inning to bounce the 5th seeded AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES 12-8.   ###    The night game saw that same University of Jamestown team eliminate the 4th seeded MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS by a score of 11-8   ###    And the top seeded STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS won a 5-4 Instant Classic against the 2nd seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS.    

KINGSPORT BRACKET: DAY TWO – The (4) INDIANA TECH WARRIORS staved off elimination by inflicting that fate on the (2) MIDDLE GEORGIA STATE KNIGHTS in a 10-5 upset   ###    In the late game Indiana Tech (whose teams SHOULD be called the Hoplites) fell to the (5) UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE (OH) RED STORM 4-3   ###   And the (1) TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS won a 2-1 Pitcher’s Duel with the (3) SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS.

LAWRENCEVILLE BRACKET: DAY TWO – The (3) LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS bounced the (4) OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in a nailbiting 2-1 game   ###    Later on the Blue Raiders doubled up on the (5) UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS 8-4, sending them home as well   ###    And the (1) GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES totaled the (2) INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS by a score of 8-2.

MONTGOMERY BRACKET: DAY TWO – The top seeded AUBURN UNIVERSITY AT MONTGOMERY WARHAWKS (formerly the Senators) – absolutely annihilated the (3) CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS in a TWENTY to FIVE laugher   ###   The (2) KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS crushed the (4) LSU-SHREVEPORT PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) 9-2 in an Elimination Game   ###    And then those Seahawks went on to dispatch the (5) INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS in a much closer 3-1 result.  

SANTA BARBARA BRACKET: DAY TWO – The (5) COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES eliminated the (2) MADONNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS by a final score of 11-8   ###    In the late game the (4) WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS eliminated the Coyotes in turn 7-6   ###    And the (3) MASTER’S COLLEGE MUSTANGS upset the (1) WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS (should be the Guardians) in a 1-0 epic of defensive baseball.    

SAVANNAH BRACKET: DAY ONE – The (5) POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS put the entire Bracket on notice, toppling the (1) CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in a 7-2 smackdown   ###   Earlier in the day the Skyhawks had upset the (4) TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS 8-1   ###   Meanwhile the (2) USC-BEAUFORT SAND SHARKS edged the (3) FREED-HARDEMAN UNIVERSITY LIONS in a 2-0 thriller   ###   And those same Lions then stayed alive by thrashing the aforementioned Trojans FIFTEEN to FOUR in the late game.

FAULKNER BRACKET: DAY TWO – In the bracket where nearly everybody’s called the Eagles the (5) TEXAS A&M AT TEXARKANA EAGLES (should be the Texarkans) eliminated the (3) TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS 8-4   ###   In the night game Texas A&M-Texarkana edged the (4) CENTRAL METHODIST UNIVERSITY EAGLES in a 4-3 game for the ages   ###   And the (1) FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) obliterated the (2) VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS to the tune of 10-0.  

*** NCAA DIVISION THREE ***

BEATING THE BIRDS – The LUTHER COLLEGE NORSE grabbed a 2-0 lead in the 1st Inning and stayed on top of the NORTH CENTRAL UNIVERSITY CARDINALS the rest of the way, ultimately winning an action-packed 8-6 affair.    ###    And the KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS likewise plucked the feathers off their avian opponents the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS in a 7-1 drubbing.  

THE BIRDS STRIKE BACK – The LA ROCHE COLLEGE REDHAWKS trailed the WIDENER UNIVERSITY PRIDE 5-2 in the 4th Inning but came back in the end for a 7-6 triumph!    ###    And the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS indulged in a little bird-on-bird violence by thrashing the WESTMINSTER (MO) BLUE JAYS by a final score of 11-4.  

SMACKDOWNS – The SAINT JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES went up 2-0 in the 2nd Inning over the COLLEGE OF SAINT SCHOLASTICA SAINTS and never looked back. When the dust settled the Johnnies had won it 7-2.   ###    And the CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS decimated the CASTLETON UNIVERSITY SPARTANS to the tune of FOURTEEN to FOUR!

THREE TO TWO – The RAMAPO COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS faced the UNION COLLEGE (NY) DUTCHMEN and trailed them 2-0 most of the game until tying it up at 2 runs apiece late. In the 10th Inning the Roadrunners won the game 3-2.   ###    And the OSWEGO STATE LAKERS likewise won a 3-2 nailbiter of their own against the EAST CONNECTICUT STATE WARRIORS.

ALL-NAME GAMES – The UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AT BOSTON BEACONS did battle with the HAVERFORD COLLEGE BLACK SQUIRRELS and wound up beating them by a score of 6-2.   ###    And the SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS defeated their opponents the FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS in an 11-8 game.
