*** USCAA WORLD SERIES ***
DAY TWO: GAME ONE – The top seeds – the COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS – squared off against the 5th seeded ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY AT PEORIA EAGLES. The Fighting Saints got off to a quick 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning, but from there it was a pitcher’s duel. College of St Joseph’s added just one more run the rest of the way, while the Eagles mustered just one lone run in the 7th Inning. Pitcher Bill Brancatella threw for the whole game in a 2-1 win for the Fighting Saints.
DAY TWO: GAME TWO – The 7th seeded PSU-DUBOIS LIONS did battle with the 6 seeds – the WRIGHT STATE AT THE LAKE LAKERS. Runs were hard to come by in this game, too, as the Lakers led 1-0 in the 1st Inning but no more runs were scored until the 4th, which ended with the Lions on top 3-2. That was the end of the offense, with 3-2 holding up as the final score. Alex Hart pitched for the PSU-Dubois win.
DAY TWO: GAME THREE – The 2 seeds – the ROCHESTER COLLEGE WARRIORS – went to bat against the 3rd seeded UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Warriors took a 1-0 edge in the 2nd. Rochester College added 3 more runs in the 4th Inning and the Cougars notched 2 as the Warriors went on to win the game by a score of 4-2. Daniel Monear got the Win, Mike Berlin got the Save.
DAY TWO: GAME FOUR – Up next was the game between the 8th seeded CLEARY UNIVERSITY PROWLING COUGARS and the 4th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS. This was a Jekyll and Hyde game, with neither team scoring until the 4th Inning, when the Prowling Cougars put up 3 runs. That let loose the blowout gnomes as Cleary University went on to drub the Builders (the Defending Champions, by the way) to the tune of 10-2. Pitcher Gunnar Gail threw for the win.
