COLLEGE BASEBALL POSTSEASON ACTION ROLLS ALONG

NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSO-CIATION ROUND TWO – The 7 seeds – the  VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS – eliminated the 3rd seeded DAKOTA STATE TROJANS in a 7-4 upset    ###    The 6th seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS toppled the 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES – in a thrilling 3-2 affair    ###    The Jimmies then stayed alive in the night game by eliminating the aforementioned V-Hawks by a score of 7-5.     ###    

Meanwhile the NSAA’s top seeded BELLEVUE (NE) BRUINS decimated the (5) WALDORF COLLEGE WARRIORS 11-0    ###   And the (8) VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS survived two elimination games, bouncing the (4) DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS by a score of 8-5 and then doubling up on the aforementioned Warriors 6-3.

CROSSROADS LEAGUE ROUND ONE – The 4 seeds – the HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY FORESTERS – defeated the 5th seeded BETHEL (IN) PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) in a 13-4 blowout   ###   Next the 2nd seeded MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS clobbered the 7th seeded GOSHEN COLLEGE MAPLE LEAFS 8-2   ###   The (1) TAYLOR TROJANS likewise won an 8-2 game against the (8) ST FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS   ###   And the (3) SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS shut out the (6) INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS 3-0.

KENTUCKY INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE: CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The 4th seeded UNIVERSITY OF RIO GRANDE (OH) RED STORM came into the day 3-0 in tournament play this year. Their opponents – the top seeded INDIANA UNIVERSITY SOUTHEAST GRENADIERS – forced a second game by defeating the Red Storm 4-1. Then with each team having one loss University of Rio Grande eliminated the Grenadiers 6-1. * THE RED STORM ARE 2016 CHAMPIONS OF THE KIAC TOURNAMENT *

ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT INSTITUTIONS/ UNAFFILIATED ROUND ONE – The top seeds – the GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES – trounced the 8th seeded FISHER UNIVERSITY FALCONS 13-5   ###   The (2) CLARKE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS routed the (7) TALLADEGA COLLEGE TORNADOES 11-5   ###   Meanwhile the (3) TEXAS A&M AT TEXARKANA EAGLES defeated the (6) EDWARD WATERS (FL) TIGERS in a 9-7 thriller   ###   And the (4) MOUNT MERCY UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS won an 8-4 game against the (5) COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS.

NAIA WEST ROUND ONE – The 3 seeds – the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES – eliminated the 5th seeded MARYMOUNT (CA) MARINERS in a 10-3 beatdown. Then in the night game the Coyotes dispatched the 4th seeded CORBAN UNIVERSITY WARRIORS 3-1.   ###   And the top seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS defeated the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS in a 3-0 shutout.

THE SUN CONFERENCE ROUND TWO – The 2nd seeded SAINT THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS eliminated the 6 seeds – the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS – by a score of 7-3   ###   Meanwhile the 3rd seeded WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS toppled the top seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AT BEAUFORT SAND SHARKS – in an 8-5 affair   ###   And the 4th seeded KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS doubled up on the 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE 14-7.  

SOONER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROUND TWO – The (2) UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS clobbered the (6) MID-AMERICA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EVANGELS to the tune of 10-2   ###   The (3) SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN COLLEGE EAGLES then eliminated those Evangels in the late game by defeating them 9-6   ###   Meanwhile the (4) WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS upset the (1) TEXAS WESLEYAN COLLEGE RAMS 13-8   ###   And the (5) OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS wound up falling to the Rams 12-8 in their late game.

RED RIVER ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROUND TWO – The top seeded LSU-ALEXANDRIA GENERALS stayed alive with a 9-1 destruction of the 5th seeded OUR LADY OF THE LAKE UNIVERSITY SAINTS. Earlier in the day the Saints advanced to face the Generals by eliminating the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AT VICTORIA JAGUARS 12-8.   ###   And the 3 seeds – the LSU-SHREVEPORT PILOTS (Riverboat Pilots) – won an 18-16 shootout with the (4) JARVIS CHRISTIAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS.

CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ROUND TWO – The (5) SAINT AMBROSE UNIVERSITY FIGHTING BEES eliminated the (8) PURDUE UNIVERSITY AT CALUMET PEREGRINES in a 12-5 smackdown   ###   The (4) SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS upset the (1) OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS 4-2   ###   Meanwhile the (2) JUDSON (IL) EAGLES sent home the TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS by a score of 6-4   ###   And the (6) ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES defeated the (7) ST FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS 13-10.

AMERICAN MIDWEST CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP – The (3) CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS were already in the title game and were awaiting the winner of the clash between the (1) MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS and the (7) WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS. The Spartans won by an odd score of 20-11.   ###    And the Mustangs went on to upset Missouri Baptist University in an 11-3 rout.  * THE MUSTANGS ARE 2016 CHAMPIONS OF THE AMC TOURNAMENT *

SO-CAL ROUND TWO: DAY TWO – The PALOMAR COLLEGE COMETS came back from a 3-0 deficit to defeat the CUESTA COLLEGE COUGARS by a score of 9-5   ###    And the LOS MEDANOS COLLEGE MUSTANGS won a 2-1 pitcher’s duel with the MISSION COLLEGE SAINTS, though it took TWELVE INNINGS to do so.

SO-CAL ROUND TWO: DAY TWO (cont’d) – The CYPRESS COLLEGE CHARGERS trailed the EL CAMINO COLLEGE WARRIORS 2-0 in the 2nd Inning before taking a 3-2 lead in the 3rd. Each team notched one more run in the 4th Inning but no more, resulting in a 4-3 win for the Chargers.   ###   And the SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS edged the RIVERSIDE CITY COLLEGE TIGERS by a count of 7-5. 

NOR-CAL ROUND TWO: DAY TWO – The CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS seized a quick 3-0 advantage over the LANEY COLLEGE EAGLES and never looked back on their way to a decisive 8-1 victory.   ###    And the COLLEGE OF MARIN MARINERS doubled up on their opponents – the CONSUMNES RIVER HAWKS – in a 6-3 game. 

NOR-CAL ROUND TWO: DAY TWO (cont’d) – The FOLSOM LAKE COLLEGE FALCONS led the SACRAMENTO CITY COLLEGE PANTHERS 5-0 in the 2nd Inning but let them tie it up at 5-5 in the 3rd. The shootout was on and ended in a 12-8 win for the Falcons.   ###   And the COLLEGE OF SAN MATEO BULLDOGS won an 8-6 battle with the FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS.
