COLLEGE BASKETBALL: CCCAA FINAL FOUR SET

Fresno CIty College Rams logoFINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The NorCal 3 seeds – the FRESNO CITY COLLEGE RAMS – had a hardcourt rumble with the NorCal 7 seeds – the CONTRA COSTA COLLEGE COMETS. The Rams dominated early and led the Comets 63-44 by Halftime. After the break Contra Costa College inched closer and closer to Fresno City College but their attempted rally fell short. The Rams won by a Century Club score of 100-89 led by B.J. Shelton with 27 points.  

City College of San Francisco Rams logoFINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – The CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS are the NorCal Region’s top seed and they squared off against the Regions 5th seeded COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS (should be the Redwoods). The Rams were crushing the Giants FORTY THREE to SEVENTEEN at the break on their way to an 84-46 blowout win. Troy Thompson’s 14 points led the way for CCSF.  

Saddleback College Gauchos logoFINAL FOUR: THIRD BERTH – The SoCal Region’s top seeds – the SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS – did battle with the Region’s 4th seeded EAST LOS ANGELES COLLEGE HUSKIES. The Gauchos methodically built up a 34-24 advantage by the Half and then held the Huskies at a distance all the rest of the way for a 68-58 triumph. Breaon Brady notched a Double- Double for Saddleback College with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Chaffey College Panthers logoFINAL FOUR: LAST BERTH – The two teams fighting it out to complete the 2016 Final Four were the SoCal’s 3rd seeded CHAFFEY COLLEGE PANTHERS and the Region’s Cinderella 7 seeds – the ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE MARAUDERS. This game was an Instant Classic, with the Panthers clinging to a 39-37 lead over the Marauders at Halftime. After the break Chaffey College managed to eke out a bit more separation, winning the game 84-78. Christopher Edward’s Double- Double of 25 points and 15 rebounds led the Panthers.
