COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MARCH MADNESS CONTINUES

GULF COAST ATHLETIC CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – With the top seed in this conference tournament eliminated this game saw the 2nd seeded DILLARD UNIVERSITY BLEU (sic) DEVILS take on the 4 seeds – the XAVIER (LA) UNIVERSITY GOLD RUSH. In the end the Bleu Devils punched their ticket to the National Tournament by defeating the Gold Rush 84-71. * THE BLEU DEVILS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE GCAC TOURNAMENT *  

MID-SOUTH CONFERENCE – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams left standing in this conference tourney were the top seeded GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS and the 3 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS. The Tigers pulled out to a 41-34 lead over the Patriots by Halftime and went on to win the game 79-69.  * THE TIGERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE MSC TOURNAMENT *

DISTRICT 207 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This District title clash set two Regional Champions against each other. Region 13’s champions – the DAKOTA COUNTY TECH BLUE KNIGHTS – did battle with the champions of Region 9 – the SOUTHEAST (NE) COLLEGE STORM. The Blue Knights went on to dispatch the Storm by a final tally of 93-76.  * THE BLUE KNIGHTS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 207 *  

DISTRICT 212 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This was one of the tightest games of the day yesterday. The top seeded ESSEX COUNTY COLLEGE WOLVERINES took the court against the 2 seeds – the MANOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS. This back and forth Instant Classic went down to the wire with the Wolverines eking out a slender 66-65 victory.  * THE WOLVERINES ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 212 *

DISTRICT 216 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – This District’s title tilt also came down to the top two seeds. The 2nd seeded PARKLAND COLLEGE COBRAS squared off against the top seeds – the REND LAKE COLLEGE WARRIORS. When all was said and done the Cobras had pulled off the slight upset, toppling the Warriors by a final score of 82-78.  * THE COBRAS ARE CHAMPIONS OF DISTRICT 216 *
