* CHICAGOLAND COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The 3rd seeded CARDINAL STRITCH UNIVERSITY WOLVES tangled with the 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS FIGHTING SAINTS – in this Semifinal game. After a blow-for-blow opening Half the Wolves held a 36-33 advantage at the break. Early in the 2nd Half a 16-4 run by Cardinal Stritch set the pattern for the rest of the game with the Fighting Saints playing catch-up. In the end the Wolves won by a final score of 83-68. Tony Smit recorded a Double Double for the victors, with 26 points and 10 rebounds.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the top seeded OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS against the 4 seeds – the SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS. At Halftime the Cougars seemed primed to pull off the upset with their 41-33 lead over the Tigers. After the break Olivet Nazarene mounted a furious comeback and then some, turning the tables on Saint Xavier for a 90-79 victory. The Tigers’ Aaron Larson led Olivet Nazarene with 29 points.
* APPALACHIAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE *
FIRST SEMIFINAL – The top seeds – the UNION COLLEGE (KY) BULLDOGS – squared off against the 4th seeded REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES yesterday. The Bulldogs trailed the Eagles 10-7 early but came right back to dominate the rest of the opening Half, building up a 42-23 advantage by the break. In the 2nd Half Reinhardt stubbornly hung around, pulling to within 10 points of Union twice. In the end the Bulldogs won the game 86-70. Fitzgerald White’s 21 points led Union College.
SECOND SEMIFINAL – And the 2nd seeded MILLIGAN COLLEGE BUFFALOES made it an all-chalk Finals matchup by defeating the 6 seeds, the TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Buffaloes were in control at Halftime 42-25 and from there coasted to a comfortable 79-64 win. Julian Bailey tossed in 17 points for Milligan College.

DISTRICT 307 – SEMIFINALS – The SAND HILLS COLLEGE FLYERS and the PRINCE GEORGE’S COLLEGE OWLS went into Overtime in their Instant Classic of a Semifinal before the Flyers emerged with a 99-92 upset win. ### And the SOUTHERN CRESCENT TECHNICAL COLLEGE TIGERS advanced to the District Championship Game by slapping down the COLLEGE OF ALLEGHENY COUNTY AT BOYCE SAINT BERNARDS to the tune of 83-59.
REGION 303 – QUARTERFINALS – The 3rd seeded CORNING COLLEGE RED BARONS took on the 6th seeded NORTH COUNTRY COLLEGE SAINT BERNARDS and authoritatively defeated them by a score of 92-76. ### Meanwhile the top seeded HERKIMER COLLEGE GENERALS dispatched their 8th seeded foes the FULTON- MONTGOMERY COLLEGE RAIDERS to the tune of 65-50.
REGION 303 – QUARTERFINALS (cont’d) – The 4th seeded FINGER LAKES COLLEGE LAKERS had no trouble bouncing the 5 seeds – the SUNY- DELHI BRONCOS – in a 96-77 rout. ### And the 2 seeds – the MOHAWK VALLEY COLLEGE COLLEGE HAWKS absolutely crushed the 7th seeded COLUMBIA- GREENE COLLEGE TWINS in an unbelievable 83-53 laugher.
REGION 313 – QUARTERFINALS – The VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN did battle with the RIVERLAND COLLEGE BLUE DEVILS and advanced by a healthy margin of 87-72. ### Meanwhile the ROCHESTER (MN) TECH YELLOW JACKETS upset the RAINY RIVER COLLEGE VOYAGEURS in an 81-74 game for the ages.
REGION 313 – QUARTERFINALS (cont’d) – The ANOKA- RAMSEY COLLEGE GOLDEN RAMS took down the MESABI RANGE COLLEGE NORSE by a final score of 78-63. ### And the CENTRAL LAKES COLLEGE AT BRAINERD RAIDERS won a 95-82 game against their opponents the MINNESOTA WEST TECH BLUE JAYS.
REGION 315 – QUARTERFINALS – The HOSTOS COLLEGE CAIMANS pulled off an exciting upset of the SULLIVAN COUNTY COLLEGE GENERALS by a score of 83-74. ### Meanwhile the BRONX COLLEGE BRONCOS managed a tight 75-71 upset of their own over the LAGUARDIA COLLEGE RED HAWKS.
REGION 315 – QUARTERFINALS (cont’d) – The SUFFOLK COUNTY COLLEGE SHARKS made it a third upset in the Quarterfinals by toppling the NASSAU COLLEGE LIONS in a 92-78 stunner. ### And the favored BOROUGH OF MANHATTAN COLLEGE PANTHERS eliminated the ROCKLAND COLLEGE HAWKS by a score of 81-69.
Stritch is taking it all this year!
Are you sure? They didn’t even win the CCAC tournament. I know they’ll probably get an at-large bid to the Tournament, but still, you seem pretty confident.
