The Builders notched 2 more runs in that frame to take a 3-2 lead then clamped down defensively to ride those 2 runs to a Day One victory. Pitcher Sam Massie got the win.

Cincinatti Clermont Cougars logo biggerGAME TWO – The top seeded defending champions of USCAA baseball – the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINATTI AT CLERMONT COUGARS – took on the 8th seeded VICTORY UNIVERSITY EAGLES, a team playing with the melancholy knowledge that their school will be be closing its doors for good this summer. The Eagles got off to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd Inning but the Cougar’s bats came alive in the 4th and they went on to win by a score of 4-2. Ryan Beard was the winning pitcher.

Selma University BulldogsGAME THREE – In this game the 7th seeded SELMA UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS clashed with the 10 seeds – the ROBERT MORRIS UNIVERSITY EAGLES (also the host institution for the series). In keeping with the theme of the games detailed above the Bulldogs started out trailing the Eagles 2-0 in the 2nd Inning. By the 3rd Selma University had tied it up and by the 4th led 3-2. The Bulldogs added 2 more runs enroute to a 5-2 win. Selma’s Tarus Hervey got the win. 

Victory university eaglesGAME FOUR – The 8th seeded valedictory edition of the VICTORY UNIVERSITY EAGLES took on the storied 9 seeds – the ROCHESTER COLLEGE WARRIORS. Playing on emotion the young men from Victory U did their dying alma mater proud in this game. The Eagles dominated the Warriors from start to finish, winning by an astounding final score of TWELVE to TWO! Efrain Padrone got credit for the win. 

St Joseph's College Brooklyn BearsGAME FIVE – In this battle of the diamond the 6th seeded SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF BROOKLYN BEARS upset the 3rd seeded PENN STATE- GREATER ALLEGHENY NITTANY LIONS. A 2nd Inning run by PSUGA put them on top 1-0 until the Bears went ahead 2-1 in the 5th. That became a 6-2 lead after 6 Innings and ultimately a 7-2 triumph for Saint Joseph’s College. The winning pitcher was Chris Cutrone. 

GAME SIX, to feature LU-Belleville vs Selma U, has been postponed til Day Two because of rain.


Houston Victoria JaguarsJACKSON BRACKET – The 5th seeded UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AT VICTORIA JAGUARS came back from a 2-0 deficit headed into the top of the 6th Inning as their bats exploded their way to a 5-2 upset victory over the 4th seeded STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS.     ###      Meanwhile the 3 seeds – the BELHAVEN COLLEGE BLAZERS – notched an upset of their own over the 2nd seeded OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS in a 9-8 orgy of offense.     ###      And the top seeded OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES parlayed a 3-2 4th Inning lead into a 5-3 win over the (5) UH-VICTORIA JAGUARS.  

Viterbo V-HawksHUTCHINSON BRACKET – The 5th seeded VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS toppled the 4th seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS in a non-competitive 7-0 rout.     ###      The 3rd seeded UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES upset the 2nd seeded DOANE COLLEGE TIGERS by a score of 6-2.     ###      And the top seeded TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS put up runs in the 1st, 3rd and 8th Innings then withstood an 8th and 9th Inning rally from the 5th seeded VITERBO V-HAWKS to win a 3-2 nailbiter.

Culver Stockton College WildcatsKINGSPORT BRACKET – In keeping with the 5 seed over 4 seed theme the CULVER- STOCKTON COLLEGE WILDCATS came back from a 1-0 2nd Inning deficit to beat the BRYAN (TN) COLLEGE LIONS  4-2.     ###      Meanwhile the 3rd seeded CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS trailed the 2 seeds – the BREWTON- PARKER COLLEGE BARONS – 3-1 going into the 5th Inning but turned things around for an 8-3 blowout win.     ###      And the top seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS and 5th seeded CULVER- STOCKTON WILDCATS were tied 3-3 after 3 Innings then traded runs until the Spartans at last emerged with an 11-10 victory. 

LSU-Alexandria GeneralsDAYTONA BEACH BRACKET – If you had a premonition that the 5th seeded team upset the 4th seeded team you were absolutely correct. The LSU- ALEXANDRIA GENERALS hammered the TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDGOS  8-2.     ###      The 2nd seeded EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES trailed the 3rd seeded TALLADEGA COLLEGE TORNADOES 6-4 in the bottom of the 9th Inning but got the 3 runs they needed for a thrilling 7-6 win!     ###      And the top seeded SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC RUNNING HORNETS folded, spindled and mutilated the 5th seeded LSU- ALEXANDRIA GENERALS by an unbelievable TWENTY to SIX!  

Spring Arbor U CougarsMARION BRACKET – A 2-2 tie in the 2nd Inning ultimately became a 7-5 victory for the 5th seeded SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS over the 4th seeded MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS.     ###      The 2nd seeded POINT PARK UNIVERSITY PIONEERS fell to the 3rd seeded MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS in an 8-4 double-up.     ###      And the (5) SAU COUGARS notched their 2nd upset of the day by rising up and dragging down the top seeded GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS by another 8-4 result.  

point universityMONTGOMERY BRACKET – In yet another 5 seed over 4 seed outcome the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS dismembered the JUDSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES by a score of 11-4.     ###      The 3rd seeded MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS kept the upset mojo going by toppling the 2nd seeded LSU- SHREVEPORT PILOTS (riverboat pilots). The final score in this wild game was 14 to 10.     ###      And the top seeded defending champions of NAIA baseball – the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES – showed they are still the team to beat with a machine-like 7-0 trouncing of the 5th seeded POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS.  

Saint Francis (il) Fighting Saints biggerLAWRENCEVILLE BRACKET – The 5th seeded SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS and the 4th seeded WESTMONT COLLEGE WARRIORS were tied up 1-1 in the 8th Inning when the Fighting Saints put up the go-ahead run which they rode to a 2-1 win.     ###      Meanwhile the 2nd seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE held an ELEVEN to ONE lead over the 3 seeds – the WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS – by the 4th Inning. The final score was Fire 11  Owls 5.     ###      And the (5) ST FRANCIS FIGHTING SAINTS logged another upset by bringing down the top seeded GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES in a 3-2 come from behind win. 

British Columbia ThunderbirdsSANTA CLARITA BRACKET – To nobody’s surprise by this point the 5 seeds upset the 4 seeds in the opening game in this bracket. The UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS and the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS were in a scoreless tie in the 8th Inning when the Thunderbirds got a run and rode that to a 1-0 final score for the victory.     ###      The 3rd seeded DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS scored 4 runs in the 1st Inning of their game against the 2nd seeded MASTER’S COLLEGE MUSTANGS. Neither team scored again after that so 4-0 was the end result.     ###     And the top seeded SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN COLLEGE HAWKS displayed no trouble at all dispatching the (5) UBC THUNDERBIRDS in a TWELVE to TWO annihilation. 

Bacone Warriors logoSHAWNEE BRACKET – Due to rain only one game got played yesterday in this bracket. The 5th seeded BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS made sure that Day One remained perfect in terms of 5 seeds upsetting 4 seeds. The Warriors battled the 4th seeded FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS and in a reasonably entertaining back and forth affair emerged in the end with a 5-2 triumph.    



Southeastern (IA) College BlackhawksREGION 211 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Yesterday the SOUTHEASTERN (IA) COLLEGE BLACKHAWKS did battle with the DES MOINES AREA COLLEGE BEARS for this Regional pennant. When all of the dust had settled in this epic of the diamond the Blackhawks took the title by a final score of 6-2. Now it’s on to the District tourney. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE BLACKHAWKS! *
