2012 CCCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS AND BOWL MATCHUPS

Balladeer’s Blog concludes its preview of postseason college football in the divisions covered here. The CCCAA Championship Game will be held December 8th, and here are the playoff games and Bowls we’ll be treated to along the way. The subdivisions of the CCCAA are the SCFA and NCFA with the winners of those subdivisions facing each other in the title game.

NATIONAL BOWL – November 17th – The MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES (helmet at left) are the defending champions of the SCFA but lost to CCSF in the CCCAA title game last year. The Mounties took the National Central Conference crown and in the National Bowl will take on the SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS, the champions of the National Southern Conference. This game is the first semifinal in the SCFA.

BEACH BOWL – November 17th – This Bowl serves as the second semifinal game in the SCFA for 2012. The BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES come in as the Wildcard Team and square off against the VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES (helmet at left), champions of the National Northern Conference. Like the National Bowl this game will kick off at approximately 9pm Eastern Time.

NCFA FINAL- November 24th – Unlike the SCFA the NCFA dispenses with semifinals and pits the top 2 teams against each other in one championship game, hence the Bye week before their title clash. The CITY COLLEGE OF SAN FRANCISCO RAMS, the reigning champions of BOTH the NCFA AND the CCCAA come into this game as the 2012 winners of the NorCal Conference. Their opponents in this final will be the champions of the Valley Conference, the AMERICAN RIVER COLLEGE BEAVERS (helmet at left). Kickoff will be at 4pm.

AMERICAN CHAMPIONSHIP BOWL – November 17th – 9pm Eastern Time – This battle of champions will feature the Pacific Conference title holders against the Mountain Conference champs. The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE JAGUARS (helmet at left) out of the Mountain Conference take on the SANTA MONICA COLLEGE CORSAIRS out of the Pacific Conference. Both teams come in with 9-1 records.

CENTRAL DIVISION BOWL – November 17th – 3pm Eastern Time – Another contest of champions in this Bowl. The CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS (helmet at left) come into the game as the Golden Valley Conference champs and the COLLEGE OF THE SISKIYOUS EAGLES come into the game wearing the Mid-Empire Conference crown. The Gladiators (love that name) are huuuuge underdogs in this matchup but just might surprise everyone.

BOTHMAN BULLDOG BOWL – November 17th – 4pm Eastern Time – “B Cubed” is how I like to refer to this Bowl game. The host team, the SAN MATEO COLLEGE BULLDOGS (helmet at left) welcome the SIERRA COLLEGE WOLVERINES. Both programs had a disappointing 2012 season but they know they can salvage some of it by closing out the year with a Bowl victory.

PATRIOTIC BOWL – November 17th – Time TBD – In this Bowl two of the most impressive teams of the year come face to face. The PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS (helmet at left) battle the MOUNT SAN JACINTO COLLEGE EAGLES. The Brahma Bulls come into this clash of titans at 8-2 while the Eagles boast a 9-1 record. I will update the scheduled kickoff time as soon as it becomes available.

GOLDEN STATE BOWL – November 17th – 4pm Eastern Time – This is always one of the most unpredictable Bowls of the CCCAA postseason. For the 2012 edition the RIVERSIDE TIGERS (helmet at left) will take on the LOS ANGELES HARBOR COLLEGE SEAHAWKS in a National Division grudge match of epic proportions. The Black and Blue Bowl might be a better name for this game. 

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BOWL – November 17th – 9 pm Eastern Time – The Southern California Bowl is looming large as the potential under the radar Bowl of the postseason. The game – to be played in Santa Ana, California – will pit the COLLEGE OF THE CANYONS COUGARS against the SANTA ANA COLLEGE DONS (helmet at left), as in Old California Dons like Don Diego de la Vega, not Mafia Dons like Don Corleone. 

LIVING BREATH FOUNDATION BOWL – November 17th – 4pm Eastern Time – This Bowl combines the fun of college football with a very worthy cause and is always a very memorable event. The MONTEREY PENINSULA COLLEGE LOBOS (helmet at left) are primed and ready to battle the CONTRA COSTA COLLEGE COMETS. If you watch only one of the non-playoff bowls make this the one.

WESTERN STATE BOWL – November 17th – 9pm Eastern Time – The 2012 edition of the Western State Bowl will be played in Fullerton, California. The two teams squaring off in this hallmark postseason event this year will be the FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS (helmet at left) and the CITRUS COLLEGE OWLS. The Owls come into the game at 7-3, the Hornets at 6-4.
