Today ends the 2011-2012 college basketball season for the divisions covered by Balladeer’s Blog. The final two championship games take place this afternoon and evening.

First up, the Western Washington University Vikings (logo above left) play the Montevallo Falcons at 1pm ET for the D2 title. Tonight at 9pm ET the NJCAA championship game features the South Plains College Texans taking on the NW Florida Raiders. The NJCAA’s consolation games are today as well, so keep checking back here for socres throughout the day. 

NCAA D2 – Western Washington Vikings over the Montevallo Falcons  72-65  VIKINGS WIN D2 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP  The Vikings led by double-digits for most of the 2nd half but the Falcons tightened the game up at the end. Clutch free-throws and solid defensive play secured the title for Western Washington.

NJCAA – Championship Game – South Plains College Texans over the NW Florida Raiders  81-68  TEXANS ARE NJCAA CHAMPIONS  ***  Consolation Games – Indian Hills Warriors over Wabash Valley Warriors  83-74  ***  Monroe College Tribunes over the Columbia State Chargers  79-50  ***  Seward Saints over the Eastern Oklahoma Mountaineers  76-62
