Political zealots are going out of their way to prove that they are every bit as destructive and, ultimately, as self-serving as religious zealots. Here in the United States the lunatic fringe of each party has become the mainstream of those parties. No matter how much gibberish gets spouted about how candidates want to try to appear “centrist” the reality is that every election cycle since at least the late 1960’s American voters have been getting subjected to the same tiresome dance. Democrats accuse Republicans of being wealth- hording racists and Republicans accuse Democrats of being unpatriotic pagans. I’m an Independent Voter and I’ll periodically post about the similarities between the slimy demagogues of the political left and the political right in the months to come.
To start us off let’s look at Reason Number 1 Why Liberals and Conservatives are the same kind of people:
Liberals think they are the country’s official “intellectuals” and that they possess “the one true world view”. They feel that this qualifies them to use the apparatus of government to rule every aspect of our lives. Dissenters from this view are so routinely labeled “racists” and/or “uneducated” that such labels have become virtually meaningless.
Conservatives think they are the country’s official “patriots” and that they follow “the one true faith”. They feel that this qualifies them to use the apparatus of government to rule every aspect of our lives. Dissenters from this view are so routinely labeled “sinners” and/or “UnAmerican” that such labels have become virtually meaningless.

Oh thank-you!!! I’ve never ever understood politics and with your writing skills it’ll not be boring!!! And such a funny thing these Liberals think they are clever? And these Conservatives are religious? Yet don’t both groupes seem to go against all that they sat they beleive in?
Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, the increasingly repulsive Liberals and Conservatives are monumental hypocrites and think they are fit to dictate what freedoms the rest of us should be “permitted” to retain. Conservatives never have a problem spending tax money on wars but hate the thought of using tax dollars to feed or educate someone. Liberals pretend they are non- judgemental people but are as sickeningly judgemental as the religious right. Liberals also claim to be be opposed to religious fundamentalism yet they crawl on their bellies for Islam.
Nicely put. I used to consider myself a liberal but they are the same pathetic and self-righteous people as the religious right.
