BALLADEER’S BLOG POSTSEASON COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: DEC 14th

NAIA PLAYOFFS

FIRST SEMIFINAL – This game pitted the defending national champs – the KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS – against the visiting BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS. A 6-0 Ravens lead in the 1st Quarter became a 14-14 tie by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Benedictine College up 28-14 but the Seahawks exploded in the 4th, coming from behind for a 42-38 triumph. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S POSTSEASON COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM NOV 30th

NAIA PLAYOFFS

ROUND TWO: GAME ONE – The NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS visited the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS. A 6-0 1st Quarter edge for the Red Raiders became a 23-14 advantage by Halftime. After the break, the Orediggers rallied but came up just short as Northwestern College held on for a 32-29 win. 

ROUND TWO: GAME TWO – The BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS took it on the road against the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS. The Rams led 14-7 and then 24-14 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters. From there the Ravens came alive and went on top 28-24 in the 3rd before finalizing a 42-33 triumph in the 4th Quarter. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL POSTSEASON RESULTS

NEPTUNE BOWL – The two Independent teams clashing in this Bowl Game were the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) and the ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS. The 1st Quarter ended with the Builders up just 7-0 but they floored it from there. By Halftime the Apprentice School led 24-0 on their way to a 59-6 blowout victory. 

NAIA PLAYOFFS

ROUND ONE: GAME ONE – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF ST. FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS. This tale of 2 Halves saw the Moundbuilders holding a midpoint lead of 24-10. From there the Cougars rallied but fell short as Southwestern College went on to win the game 31-24.  Continue reading

NCAA DIV TWO FOOTBALL PLAYOFF TEAMS FOR 2024

Balladeer’s Blog previously looked at the playoff teams for the NAIA. This time it’s NCAA Division Two’s matchups for this Saturday.

The PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS will host the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON.

Kickoff will be at 2:00PM Eastern Time.

The GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS will host the UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS.

2024 PLAYOFF TEAMS IN NAIA FOOTBALL

Just as the divisions of college football covered here at Balladeer’s Blog start earlier than the other divisions their postseason also starts earlier. Here are this year’s NAIA playoff teams. Games begin Saturday.

The SOUTH-WESTERN COLLEGE MOUND-BUILDERS (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference) will host the UNIVERSITY OF ST. FRANCIS COUGARS (Mid-States Football Association).

Kickoff will be at 1:00PM Eastern Time. 

The DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS (North Star Conference) will host the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES (Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference).

BALLADEER’S BLOG: COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOV 17th

HEADLINES

DOWN GOES NUMBER TEN – In NCAA Division Two the BEMIDJI STATE BEAVERS welcomed the nation’s number 10 team – the AUGUSTANA (SD) VIKINGS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 7-0 Beavers lead at Halftime. The Vikings went up 10-7 in the 3rd Quarter but the 4th saw Bemidji State come from behind to win the game 17-10.

EIGHTY-SIX – The NAIA’s BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS traveled to face the WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS in this game. The Ravens converted their 17-0 opening Quarter lead into a 58-0 advantage by the Half. After the break Benedictine College remained perfect on defense as they coasted to an EIGHTY-SIX to NOTHING triumph. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG: COLLEGE FOOTBALL NOV 10th

HEADLINES

THIRTEEN OVER SEVEN – The NAIA’s 13th ranked NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS visited the country’s number 7 DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS. In this very strange game neither team had scored by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter saw the Red Raiders put up 3 points which wound up being the ONLY points scored in the game. Yes, 3-0 was the final tally in this clash of ranked teams.

NUMBER EIGHT FALLS – Staying in the NAIA for right now, the number 15 BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS took it on the road against the 8th ranked MIDAMERICA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY PIONEERS. MNU were on top 7-3 in the 1st Quarter, but the Wildcats went up 10-7 by the Half. A scoreless 3rd Quarter was followed by Baker U. winning out 20-14. Continue reading

NEW SOUTH ATHLETIC CONFERENCE ADDING FOOTBALL IN 2025

The New South Athletic Conference has finalized arrangements to add football for the 2025-2026 season. Seven of the conference’s twelve teams are on board for NSAC football.

BALLADEER’S BLOG: COLLEGE FOOTBALL – OCT 20th EDITION

HEADLINES

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER ONE – In NCAA Division Two, the 11th ranked OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS played host to the nation’s number 1 team – the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 13-10 Halftime edge for the Bison. After the break, the Tigers scored the only points of the 2nd Half to win the game 17-13.

DOWN GOES NUMBER SIX – In NCAA Division Three, the 16th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS took the field against the visiting number 6 WISCONSIN-PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS. The Pioneers were on top 10-3 by the break, but the 3rd Quarter ended in a 17-10 Titans lead. The 4th saw UW-Oshkosh triumph 24-17. 

NUMBER SEVEN TAKES A FALL – Back up in D2, the CALIFORNIA (PA) VULCANS welcomed the number 7 team in the land – the SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK. The Vulcans led 7-0 in the opening Quarter and 17-7 at the Half. From there Cal (PA) shut out the Rock while adding 11 more points for a 28-7 Upset win. Continue reading
