NAIA AND NJCAA3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SCORES MARCH 16TH

 If you missed it in the NAIA’s late game last night the unseeded SUNO Knights upset the 3rd- seeded Robert Morris (IL) Eagles 94-92! Trailing by 11 points with just 9 minutes left the Knights, playing in their first tournament since 2004, stayed focused and Kevin Dukes drove home a fadeaway jumper with just 3.9 seconds left in the game to give SUNO (Southern University at New Orleans) the win. Congratulations to the Knights for the upset of the tournament so far!

Meanwhile round two tips off this morning at 10am ET with the Evangel Crusaders (logo above left) taking on the Rogers State University Hillcats. All this plus the semifinals in the NJCAA3 tournament.

MARCH 15TH’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SCORES FOR THE NAIA AND THE NJCAA

 The NJCAA3 basketball tournament tips off today at Noon ET! The opening game features the Milwaukee Tech Stormers (logo at left) taking on the Cedar Valley College Suns. Also seeing action today will be the Brookdale College Jersey Blues, the Sandhills Flyers and many others. Stay tuned to Balladeer’s Blog for score updates.

Plus this morning at 10 ET the NAIA’s Division One basketball tournament resumes with game one pitting the Xavier (LA) Gold Rush against the LSU- Shreveport Pilots (as in riverboat pilots). Yesterday already saw 2 NAIA teams score over 100 points in their games. For updated Continue reading

NAIA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS – MARCH 14TH (UPDATED)

 The 9th- seeded Rogers State University Hillcats (logo at left) tipped off the NAIA Division 1 basketball tournament at 10am ET today. The Point Loma Nazarene University Sea Lions, the Life University Running Eagles and the top- seeded Shorter Hawks have also seen action so far.

IT’S THE HUSTLIN’ OWLS VS THE SEAHAWKS IN TONIGHT’S NAIA2 CHAMPIONSHIP GAME (FINAL SCORE UPDATED)

 For the first time since 1999 the top 2 seeds in the NAIA2 tournament will face each other for the championship. Tonight the number 1 Northwood University Seahawks battle the number 2 Oregon Tech Hustlin’ Owls, climaxing the 2012 tournament for this division of college basketball. Watch it at 7pm ET on the cable channel called CBS Sports Network.

NAIA FINAL FOUR TEAMS PLAY TONIGHT (SCORES UPDATED) ; NJCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT STARTS THURSDAY

 The Hutchinson Blue Dragons (logo at right) were eliminated from the  Region VI college basketball tournament yesterday. Meanwhile, as noted in my weekend posts, the NCCAA and both divisions of USCAA champions have been crowned.

MARCH 10TH’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT ACTION AND SCORES

 The Florida Christian College Suns (logo at left) came into the NCCAA tournament seeded 4th, but unfortunately had a rough time of it, losing both their opening round game and also the consolation bracket game. The Suns are definitely up and coming, however, and have added baseball recently, with swirling rumors about a possible football program as well.

In the USCAA tournament the 8th seeded Berkeley College Knights are THE story, having put together three upsets three days in a row to advance to today’s championship game against the Andrews Cardinals. Meanwhile the NAIA Continue reading

FRIDAY’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT SCORES IN THE NAIA, USCAA AND NCCAA

 The Indiana University Southeast Grenadiers (logo at left) were among the teams winning in yesterday’s NAIA2 tournament. In the USCAA2 tournament the top- seeded Central Penn Silver Knights were upset by 8th- seeded Berkeley College and 2nd- seeded Beaver (PA) fell to the 7 seeds, the College of St Joe Fighting Saints.  

Cool-named teams falling yesterday were the Lourdes University Gray Wolves, the St Mary Spires, the Jamestown College Jimmies and the St Ambrose Fighting Bees.

*** UPDATE – Both the NAIA2 and USCAA1 defending champs fell today. First the 7th seeded Oakwood Ambassadors provided the upset of the day by bringing down the 2nd seeded SVU Knights. On the NAIA2 side Cornerstone ended their already inglorious defense of their title, falling to Northwest (WA)***
