DIPLOMATS NEGOTIATE THEIR WAY INTO THE NCAA PLAYOFFS

HAVERFORD, Pa. – Pam Horner had 42 assists and 15 digs to lead Franklin & Marshall to a 3-0 victory over Swarthmore in the Centennial Conference (CC) Volleyball Championship Sunday. The victory gives the Diplomats the conference’s automatic qualifier bid in the NCAA Tournament.  

The title is the fifth in F&M history. The last one was won in 2000, head coach Mary Kate Boland’s senior season.

ERSKINE FLYING FLEET MEN’S SOCCER MUZZLES THE BULLDOGS

DUE WEST-  Erskine sophomore Matt Sluga (Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: “Caviar”) exploded for four goals as the #2 Flying Fleet bombed the #7 Barton Bulldogs at Huggins Field in the Conference Carolinas Quarterfinals, 6-2. The win vaults Erskine into the semi-finals where they will host the #6 seed Coker Cobras at Huggins Field on Friday night at 7:00 pm.

DREEEEEEEEAAAAM REIVERS! WHAT’S UP WITH IOWA WESTERN SPORTS THIS WEEK

 Women’s Soccer – Congratulations to the Region XI Champions!  The women’s team won 8-0 over Indian Hills in the semi-finals on Saturday, advanced to the finals on Sunday to play Dakota County and won 4-0 to claim the Championship Title!  The Reivers now advance and will host the District C Championship tournament on Nov. 5 & 6 at Iowa Western Community College.

ST AMBROSE QUEEN BEES STING RANKED OPPONENT

 The St Ambrose Queen Bees soccer team defeated the 12th-ranked Lady Bearcats from McKendree by a score of 3-2 at Davenport Soccer Complex. With this upset win the Queen Bees improve their record to 12-5. Scoring for the Queen Bees were Ashley Dexter, Logan Walsh and Kelly Schroeder.  SAU out-shot the Bearcats 13-11. Goalie Lauren Gunawen notched the win.
