ONE-POINT WONDER – The ERIE COLLEGE KATS took it on the road against the COLLEGE AT BROCKPORT GOLDEN EAGLES. The Kats converted their 9-0 1st Quarter lead into a 16-2 advantage by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Erie College on top 23-2 but the 4th saw the Golden Eagles furiously rally only to fall just short as the Kats held on to win the game 23-22.  Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 20th

HEADLINES

DIVISION THREE OVER DIVISION TWO – Three NCAA D3 teams shamed higher Division Two teams yesterday. The UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT OSHKOSH TITANS beat the ROOSEVELT UNIVERSITY LAKERS 38-21   ###   Next, the BREVARD COLLEGE TORNADOES survived a 38-34 visit from the ERSKINE COLLEGE FLYING FLEET   ###   And the UW-LACROSSE EAGLES beat the WAYNE STATE WARRIORS 31-22.

SINKING NUMBER SIX – In the NAIA, the 14th ranked ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be Tomcats) hosted the number 6 team in the nation – the GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS. The Bobcats stunned GC, leading them 3-0, 17-0 and 17-7 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively before putting them away 26-7 in the 4th.

ANOTHER NUMBER SIX GOES DOWN – Down in NCAA Div 3, the number 16 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS took it on the road against the country’s 6th ranked UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS. The Warhawks were on top 13-6 at Halftime, then shut out UMHB from there to topple them 26-6. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 18th

NCAA DIVISION TWO

TIGER ON TIGER VIOLENCE – The BENEDICT COLLEGE TIGERS welcomed the storied TUSKEGEE UNIVERSITY GOLDEN TIGERS last night. The Golden Tigers led 14-7 to end the 1st Quarter but Benedict College was up 28-17 by Halftime. After the break, the Tigers outscored Tuskegee 17-7 to win the game by a final score of 45-24.

UPSET IN THE RANKINGS – In this game the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS took the field against the visiting number 12 team in the nation – the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS. At the Half the Lions were on top 17-3 but Itawamba College came out of the locker room ready for a comeback. The 3rd Quarter saw the Indians tie things up at 17-17 before winning it in the 4th 34-24. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER THIRTEENTH

HEADLINES

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER THREE – In NCAA Division Two the UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH BULLDOGS took the field against the visiting number 3 team in the country – the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS. The Mavericks were up 7-3 at the midpoint but UMD rallied from there to topple Minnesota State 17-14.

DOWN GOES NUMBER FIVE – In this game D2’s number 16 PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS played their guests, the 5th ranked GRAND VALLEY STATE LAKERS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 10-0 Gorillas advantage by the break. The Lakers made it a 10-7 game to end the 3rd Quarter, but Pittsburg State held on in the 4th for a 17-14 win.

ANOTHER NUMBER FIVE IS TOPPLED – Over in the NAIA, the 11th ranked MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS faced the visiting number 5 team – the UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS. The Orediggers were in control 27-9 at the Half, then kept UMW at arm’s length to win the game 34-23. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER ELEVENTH

CLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER THIRTEEN – In NCAA Division Two the 13th ranked COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES traveled to face the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES. A 10-10 1st Quarter tie became a 17-10 Mules lead by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Thunderwolves on top 20-17 and the 4th in a 29-24 CSU-Pueblo victory.

STAMPEDE – On the other hand, D2’s number 2 team in the nation – the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON – had no such difficulties with their guests the SOUTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE BULLDOGS. The Bison seized a 14-0 advantage in the opening Quarter and doubled that to 28-0 at the Half. From there Harding U. buried the Bulldogs by a final count of 55-0. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER SIXTH

HEADLINES

NUMBER TEN TAKES A FALL – In NCAA Division Three the 23rd ranked GROVE CITY COLLEGE WOLVERINES were on the road against the number 10 team in the nation – the CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS. The Red Dragons led 7-0 in the opening Quarter but Grove City tied things up 14-14 at the Half. The Wolverines shut them out from there to win the game 31-14.

HILLSDALE ON THE ROAD – The storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS traveled to face the MCKENDREE UNIVERSITY BEARCATS. A scoreless 1st Quarter was followed by a 14-0 Chargers lead at Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Bearcats made it a 14-14 tie, then went up 17-14 in the 4th. Hillsdale then came from behind for a 22-17 victory. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER FOURTH

NAIA

NAIA OVER THE NCAA – The only NAIA game last night was this one between the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS and the visiting AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES from NCAA Division Three. This clash was over almost before it began as the Vikings seized a 19-0 lead in the 1st Quarter on their way to a 27-0 shutout of the Auggies.

NCAA DIVISION TWO

BATTLE OF RANKED TEAMS – The number 18 team in the nation – the CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS – welcomed the 21st ranked UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTON GOLDEN EAGLES. A 10-7 opening Quarter advantage for the Vulcans became a 20-13 lead by Halftime. The Golden Eagles outscored Cal (PA) 6-3 from there, but the Vulcans won this 23-19 thriller.

ALL NAME GAMES – The HENDERSON STATE REDDIES trounced the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM 48-13   ###   Meanwhile, the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS won 32-10 at the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM   ###   And the SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS dismembered the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON 49-14. COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM AUGUST THIRTIETH: BALLADEER’S BLOG

HEADLINES

NAIA TOPPLES NCAA DIVISION ONE – The WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS from the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics played giant-killer at the higher division NCAA DIV. ONE STETSON UNIVERSITY HATTERS. At the Half the Warriors led 17-7, then went on to consummate the Upset by a final score of 31-21. 

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER THREE – In the NAIA the 4th ranked BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS welcomed the number 3 team in the nation – the MORNINGSIDE UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The 1st Quarter ended with the Mustangs on top 14-7 but by Halftime the Ravens held a 17-14 edge. The 4th Quarter started with a 31-27 lead for Benedictine College and ended in a 38-34 Ravens win.

ANOTHER NUMBER THREE TAKES A FALL – Over in NCAA Division Two, the UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS played host to the number 3 UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (their spelling). The Falcons put UCO on Upset Alert with their 13-7 edge at the midpoint, then coasted to a 34-14 victory from there. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM AUG 28th

HEADLINES

DOWN GOES NUMBER FIVE – The NAIA’s 11th ranked MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS welcomed the NAIA’s number 5 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS. The Orediggers piled up a 31-7 lead in the opening Quarter, a score that was unchanged come Halftime. UMW made it a 31-21 game to end the 3rd Quarter, but Montana Tech won out 38-27. 

NUMBER TEN TAKES A FALL – Also in the NAIA, the LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS took the field against the visiting number 10 TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS. The Blue Raiders parlayed their 14-3 1st Quarter advantage into a 28-10 lead at the Half. From there, Lindsey Wilson College went on to clobber the Rams by a final score of 45-10. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM AUGUST TWENTY-THIRD

The 2025 college football season kicked off yesterday in a few of the divisions covered here at Balladeer’s Blog. Even more teams will start their 2025 season this Thursday and Saturday.

NSAC

*** What was supposed to be the inaugural game in the new league the NSAC – the ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS hosting the SOUTH FLORIDA TECHNICAL COLLEGE WILDCATS – was postponed yesterday over the weather. All of the NSAC teams will play next Saturday.

NJCAA

MANHANDLED – The TYLER COLLEGE APACHES welcomed the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS in this game. The Apaches dominated Dodge City College on both sides of the ball and led by a score of 17-7 come Halftime. After the break, Tyler left the Conquistadors even further behind in an authoritative 27-7 rout. 

HI, CHAPARRALS! – This game saw the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS take on the visiting ROCHESTER (MN) TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS. Usually a close rivalry game, this year’s edition of their clash was all Chaparrals to a degree that Rochester TC should just burn the game tape and deny being in Illinois yesterday. The College of DuPage won SIXTY to FOURTEEN! Continue reading
