BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: NOV 16th

HEADLINES

DOWN GOES NUMBER THREE – In NCAA Division Three, the 25th ranked FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS welcomed the number 3 team in the nation – the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUEJAYS. A 7-0 Bluejays lead in the 1st Quarter became a 21-14 advantage by Halftime. The Diplomats forced Overtime with a 21-21 tie, and in the extra session won out 29-28.

NUMBER FOUR TOPPLED – In NCAA Division Two, the VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS traveled to face the country’s number 4 UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS. By the midpoint, the Argonauts were out in front 30-23. From there the Blazers tied the score 44-44 to end Regulation, then went on to win in Overtime 47-44. 

NUMBER SIX TAKES A FALL – Over in the NAIA, the number 9 MORNINGSIDE UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS visited the 6th ranked DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS. The Mustangs were on top 13-7 in the opening Quarter and 20-14 at the Half. After the break the Defenders knotted things up at 28. In Overtime Morningside U. triumphed 34-28. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: NOV 9th

HEADLINES

NUMBER FIVE FALTERS – Down in NCAA Division Three, the UNIVERSITY OF MARY HARDIN-BAYLOR CRUSADERS played host to the country’s number 5 HARDIN-SIMMONS UNIVERSITY COWBOYS. At the Half the score was knotted up at 7-7 but the 3rd Quarter ended with the Cowboys up 10-7. In the 4th, the Crusaders came from behind for a 21-17 Upset.

UNLUCKY OVER LUCKY – Staying in D3 for a moment, the unlucky number 13 CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS played the visiting lucky number 7 SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS. The Sea Gulls were up 30-28 at the midpoint of the game. From there, the Captains rallied to win out 45-42.  

DOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – In the NAIA, the 15th ranked COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES visited the number 8 team in the nation – the CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS. CC led 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but by Halftime the Coyotes held a 26-7 advantage. After the break, the College of Idaho outscored the Fighting Saints 10-6 for a 36-13 manhandling. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: NOV 2nd

HEADLINES

NUMBER FIVE TOPPLED – In NCAA Division Two, the 8th ranked COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES visited the number 5 team in the nation – the WESTERN COLORADO UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. By Halftime WCU was in front 21-7, but the Thunderwolves shut them out from there. It was 21-21 in the 3rd Quarter with CSU-Pueblo winning 24-21 in the 4th.

DOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – Down in NCAA Division Three, the number 9 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT RIVER FALLS FALCONS played host to the 8th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS. UW-River Falls made a definite statement, leading the Warhawks 31-7 at the Half before embarrassing them by a final score of 52-14   

CENTURY CLUB IN FOOTBALL? – My Century Club notes usually apply to college basketball teams that score 100 or more points in Regulation. In a very, very rare case in football, the NJCAA’s SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS welcomed the CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE SAINTS and utterly eviscerated them ONE HUNDRED ONE to SIX! BALLADEER’S BLOG COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: OCTOBER 26th

HEADLINES

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER SIX – In the NAIA, the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX welcomed the number 6 team in the nation – the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS. The Phoenix led 3-0 in the 1st Quarter but trailed 10-6 by Halftime. The 4th Quarter started with the Tigers up 27-12 and ended in a magnificent 35-33 comeback win for Cumberland U.

NUMBER EIGHT TAKES A FALL – Over in NCAA Division Two, the WAYNE STATE WILDCATS took the field against the visiting 8th ranked MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS. The Wildcats put their opponents on Upset Alert at the Half with their 19-7 advantage, then outscored them 16-13 after the break to win the game 35-20.

AND ANOTHER NUMBER EIGHT COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Down in NCAA Division Three, the 9th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT WHITEWATER WARHAWKS played host to the number 8 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS. The Warhawks led 14-3 at the midpoint, trailed 19-14 to end the 3rd Quarter, then won 29-19 in the 4th. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: OCTOBER NINETEENTH

HEADLINES

NAIA BEATS NCAA DIVISION TWO – Once again an NAIA team – in this case the KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS – has defeated a team from the higher Division Two of the NCAA – in this case the CENTRAL STATE MARAUDERS. The Knights parlayed their 7-0 1st Quarter lead into a 28-14 advantage at Halftime. From there, they consummated the Upset 35-27.

NUMBER FOUR TAKES A FALL – Staying in the NAIA for the moment, this game pitted the NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS against the visiting number 4 team in the nation – the MORNINGSIDE UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie was unchanged at the Half. After the break, the Red Raiders toppled Morningside 14-13.

AND ANOTHER NUMBER FOUR FALLS – Down in NCAA Division Three, the 13th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS welcomed the number 4 UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES. A 21-14 Pioneers edge to end the 1st Half became a 28-14 lead in the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, UW-Platteville put away the Eagles 38-21. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: OCTOBER 12th

HEADLINES

TOPPLING NUMBER FOUR – In NCAA Division 2, the number 15 CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY WILDCATS visited the 4th ranked UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS. The Falcons were on top 7-3 come Halftime and 14-10 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, the Wildcats came from behind for a 27-14 Upset victory.

NUMBER EIGHT TAKES A FALL – Staying in D2 for a moment, the NORTHERN STATE WOLVES played host to the country’s number 8 UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH BULLDOGS. A 10-7 1st Quarter edge for the Wolves became 20-10 by the midpoint. After the break, the Bulldogs rallied but fell short as Northern State held on tight in a 34-31 triumph.

ANOTHER NUMBER EIGHT FOLLOWS – Over in the NAIA, the 14th ranked CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS traveled to face the number 8 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF MONTANA-WESTERN BULLDOGS. At the Half, the Fighting Saints put UMW on Upset Alert with their 28-14 advantage. From there CC held on to win the game 42-34. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: OCT 10th

NCAA DIVISION TWO

NUMBER TWO ROLLS – The 2nd ranked team in NCAA Division 2 football – the HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON – traveled to face the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM. A 14-0 1st Quarter lead for the Bison became 21-7 by Halftime. Harding U. shut out the Savage Storm from there as they won the game by a final score of 35-7.

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER NINE – Last night the JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS played host to the nation’s 9th ranked HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. A 7-7 tie in the opening Quarter morphed into a 24-14 Bobcats advantage at the Half. After the break, the two teams wound up exchanging Touchdowns in a 31-21 Upset victory for Jones College. BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM OCT 4th

HEADLINES

NUMBER FOUR TAKES A FALL – In NCAA Division 3, the number 12 BETHEL (MN) ROYALS welcomed the nation’s 4th ranked ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES in this game. A 3-0 Royals edge to end the 1st Quarter became a 10-10 tie at the midpoint. After a scoreless 3rd Quarter, the 4th saw Bethel University dispatch the Johnnies 17-10. 

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER SIX – NCAA Division 2’s 7th ranked UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT THE PERMIAN BASIN FALCONS were on the road against the number 6 team in the nation – the ANGELO STATE RAMS. By Halftime the Falcons were on top 21-7 before Angelo State cut that to 21-14 in the 3rd Quarter. UT-Permian Basin consummated the mild Upset 28-14 in the 4th. 

DOWN GOES NUMBER TEN – In the NAIA, the FLORIDA MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY LIONS paid a visit to the 10th ranked team in the country – the SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE. A 10-0 1st Quarter lead for the Fire was cut to a mere 17-14 edge over their opponents by the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Lions up 21-20 and the 4th in a 28-23 FMU win. Continue reading

BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: SEPTEMBER 27th

HEADLINES

THAT WAS NUMBER FIIIIVE – In the NAIA the 19th ranked MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS welcomed the nation’s number 5 team – the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. By Halftime the Wildcats were on top of Marian U. 21-10 but things turned around after the break. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Knights within 28-24 of Indiana Wesleyan and the 4th in a 52-42 Marian triumph.

DOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – Over in NCAA Division 2, the NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS took the field against the visiting 8th ranked UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (their spelling). After a 7-7 1st Quarter tie, the Bearcats led 14-7 and 28-10 in the 2nd and 3rd Quarters. Northwest Missouri State won 38-16 in the 4th.

AND NUMBER NINE COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Staying in D2 for the moment, the number 16 CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS traveled to face the 9th ranked SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK. The Vulcans put Slippery Rock on Upset Alert with their 35-28 advantage at the Half. Each team scored 10 more points from there as Cal (PA) toppled the Rock 45-38. Continue reading
