NAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION ONE – Every year NAIA teams upset some teams in the higher division aka NCAA Div 2. Less frequent are the times that NAIA teams defeat NCAA Div ONE teams, but such upsets do happen. Last night the LOUISIANA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS visited D1’s NORTHWESTERN STATE DEMONS. At Halftime the Demons led 27-14, but a big 3rd Quarter put the Wildcats up 35-30. The teams exchanged TDs in the 4th as LCU toppled Northwestern State 42-37.
NAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION TWO – The KENTUCKY CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS welcomed D2’s KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS. The Knights parlayed a 14-3 1st Quarter lead into a 35-3 advantage at Halftime. After the break, the Panthers rallied but fell far short as Kentucky Christian University won by the comfortable margin of 44-24.
NCAA DIVISION TWO OVER NCAA DIVISION ONE – D2’s SOUTH DAKOTA M&T HARDROCKERS upset their hosts the D1 DRAKE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS in a 38-35 thriller ### Meanwhile, the D2 CONCORD UNIVERSITY MOUNTAIN LIONS won 41-35 at the DAVIDSON UNIVERSITY WILDCATS ### And D2’s OHIO DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS edged D1’s MOREHEAD STATE EAGLES 42-40 in their own house.

SHUTOUTS – The number 5 team in the nation – the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS – blanked the visiting OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT by a final tally of 48-0 ### And the MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS achieved their own defensive perfection against their guests, the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS, as they defeated them by a score of 31-0.
BATTLE OF RANKED TEAMS – In this game the 6th ranked LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS hosted the number 23 REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be Rottweilers). The Blue Raiders kept Reinhardt University off the scoreboard for the entire 1st Half, leading them 14-0 and 45-0 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters, respectively. From there, LWC triumphed 52-24.
ROAD WARRIORS – The (16) ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY BOBCATS (should be Tomcats) paid a call on the CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX and wound up clobbering them 27-6 ### And the UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS notched an easy 51-7 victory at the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES.
A TALE OF TWO HALVES – There was an odd contrast in this game pitting the WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN against the visiting GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS. The Statesmen seized a quick 21-0 1st Quarter lead and made that a 28-13 advantage at the Half. Only 3 points total were scored in the entire 2nd Half as William Penn University defeated the Yellow Jackets by a final score of 28-16.

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The 25th ranked SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK knocked off their guests, the number 20 UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA AT DULUTH BULLDOGS 45-43 in DOUBLE OVERTIME ### Elsewhere, the NORTHERN STATE WOLVES eviscerated the visiting 21st ranked CHADRON UNIVERSITY EAGLES 42-17 ### And the UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT PEMBROKE BRAVES toppled the number 22 WINGATE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS 21-13.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – The BLACK HILLS STATE YELLOW JACKETS took it on the road against the UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS COUGARS. A 6-0 1st Quarter lead for the Yellow Jackets turned into a 14-14 tie come Halftime. Black Hills State went back up 21-14 to end the 3rd Quarter, then held on in the 4th for a 24-21 victory.
BLOWOUTS – The MINNESOTA STATE AT MOORHEAD DRAGONS smacked down the NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS by a count of 41-19 ### Next, the TUSCULUM UNIVERSITY PIONEERS spanked the BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES 42-7 ### And the (15) VALDOSTA STATE BLAZERS scorched the EMORY & HENRY UNIVERSITY WASPS 38-10.
ROAD THRILLER – In this game the WALSH UNIVERSITY CAVALIERS paid a visit to the WEST LIBERTY UNIVERSITY HILLTOPPERS. The Cavaliers seemed in control as they led West Liberty U. 16-3 at the midpoint. After the break, Walsh University had to hold on tight against a Hilltoppers rally. The Cavaliers survived in the end, 30-27.

DOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – The MISSISSIPPI DELTA COLLEGE TROJANS were on the road against the number 8 team in the country – the COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK. The Wolfpack held a tight 14-12 edge at Halftime but expanded that to 21-12 by the end of the 3rd Quarter. The 4th saw the Trojans charge from behind for a 25-24 victory.
ANOTHER ONE-POINT WONDER – The ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS traveled to face the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. Hinds College led 7-6 in the opening Quarter and 14-12 at the end of the 2nd. The Eagles went on top of Itawamba College 27-19 in the 3rd Quarter, only to see the Indians come back to win the game 28-27 in the 4th.
CATS VS DOGS – In this game the PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS took the field against the visiting HOLMES COLLEGE BULLDOGS. Holmes College grabbed a 13-9 1st Quarter lead, but the Wildcats went on top 28-20 at the Half. From there, Pearl River College outscored the Bulldogs 28-13 to win the game by a final tally of 56-33.
CLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER THREE – The nation’s number 3 team – the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS – got almost more than they could handle last night at the JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS. By Halftime the Bobcats were up 28-7, but NMC came out of the locker room primed for a comeback. The Rangers held Jones College to just 7 more points while managing a 38-35 triumph.
A NIGHT FOR CLOSE GAMES – This game pitted the EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WARRIORS against the home standing NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS. At the midpoint the Warriors held a 21-13 advantage. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Tigers on top 26-21, only for East Central College to roar back in the 4th to win the game 27-26.
