NCAA D2 & D3 CHAMPIONSHIPS PLUS MORE NJCAA ACTION

NCAA DIVISION TWO

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in D2 were the GANNON UNIVERSITY GOLDEN KNIGHTS and the LANDER UNIVERSITY BEARCATS. No real suspense in this title game, unfortunately, as the Golden Knights dominated Lander U. on both sides of the ball all the way. Come Halftime, Gannon had compiled a 37-21 advantage and from there they coasted to an 84-61 victory. Leading the Golden Knights was Pace Prosser with a Double Double of 28 points and 11 rebounds.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The UNIVERSITY OF MARY WASHINGTON EAGLES and the EMORY UNIVERSITY EAGLES provided all the tension that was missing in the D2 championship game. Emory was clinging to a mere 30-28 edge at the Half. After the break, Mary Washington fought from behind to Upset EU by a final score of 75-73. Twenty-seven points from Kye Robinson led UMW, while his teammate Kaden Bates logged a Double Double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

NJCAA DIVISION THREE

FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – In this game the RICHLAND COLLEGE THUNDERDUCKS played the favored RIVERLAND COLLEGE BLUE DEVILS. The Thunderducks put Riverland College on Upset Alert at the midpoint with their 35-31 lead, then carried through by defeating them 67-64. Andrew Huntley led Richland with 27 points, while teammate Dre Rutledge got a Double Double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.

FINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – The SALEM (NJ) COLLEGE MIGHTY OAKS took the court against the JOLIET COLLEGE WOLVES. Joliet managed a 35-34 edge by Halftime, but from there the Mighty Oaks made their move. When all was said and done, Salem downed the Wolves by a count of 91-78. The Mighty Oaks were led by Jarrell Lee, who tossed in 17 points and Nasseem Wright with his Double Double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

FINAL FOUR: THIRD BERTH – Next, the NORTHERN ESSEX COLLEGE KNIGHTS faced the GENESEE COLLEGE COUGARS. The Knights made a statement in the opening Half with their 44-23 advantage. After the break, they kept the Cougars at arm’s length while beating them 99-78. Fourteen points from Alejandro Delgado led the way to victory for Northern Essex.

FINAL FOUR: LAST BERTH – And the NORTH LAKE COLLEGE BLAZERS clashed with the RIDGEWATER COLLEGE WARRIORS for this final spot. The Blazers watched their 50-37 Halftime lead melt away as Ridgewater College rallied. North Lake College held them off, however, in their 89-82 triumph led by Santana Spivey’s 19 points. Fellow Blazer Romiel Carter registered a Double Double of 17 points and 12 rebounds.
