DOWN GOES NUMBER ONE – In this game the WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY CARDINALS welcomed the top ranked team in the nation – the TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS. The Cardinals put Trinity on Upset Alert with their 38-31 lead at the Half. After the break the Bantams rallied but fell short as Wesleyan U. triumphed 64-62 led by 22 points from Sam Pohlman.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER FOUR – The OHIO NORTHERN UNIVERSITY POLAR BEARS played host to the nation’s number 4 team – the UNIVERSITY OF MT. UNION PURPLE RAIDERS. This was a defensive epic, with the Polar Bears up 26-19 come Halftime before winning the game 64-50 from there. Aiden Harris led Ohio Northern University with 18 points.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring at least 100 points in Regulation: The CAIRN UNIVERSITY HIGHLANDERS won 104-83 at the PSU-ABINGTON LIONS ### Meanwhile, the GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS defeated their guests the BLACKBURN UNIVERSITY BEAVERS 124-110 ### And the TRINITY (TX) TIGERS downed the SEWANEE UNIVERSITY TIGERS 103-84.
THEY NEVER DRINK … WINE – The TRANSYLVANIA (KY) UNIVERSITY PIONEERS took the court against the ANDERSON UNIVERSITY RAVENS in this Goth Adjacent game. By Halftime the Pioneers held a 35-18 advantage. After the break Transylvania coasted to an 86-61 victory led by Hunter Barr’s 25 points. Fellow Pioneer Drew Marshall notched a Double Double of 11 points and 12 assists.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – The UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON ROYALS won 74-71 in OT at the GOUCHER COLLEGE GOPHERS ### Elsewhere, the CENTRAL COLLEGE DUTCH beat their hosts the COE COLLEGE KOHAWKS 88-85 in the extra session ### And the MONMOUTH (IL) SCOTS won 97-96 in Overtime at the LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS.
NUMBER TWO ROLLS – This game pitted the (2) UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO MAROONS (insert your own Bugs Bunny joke here) against the visiting BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY JUDGES. The Maroons were in control throughout most of the game, leading 39-24 at the midpoint before winning out 72-56. Joe Berry and Shane Regan led Chicago with 13 points each.
ALL NAME GAMES – The NORTH CAROLINA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BISHOPS smacked down their guests the MARY BALDWIN UNIVERSITY SQUIRRELS 88-63 ### Next, the RENSSELAER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS won 62-56 at the VASSAR COLLEGE BREWERS ### And the AMHERST COLLEGE MAMMOTHS clobbered the HAMILTON COLLEGE CONTINENTALS 65-37.
A DOUBLE-SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The COBLESKILL STATE FIGHTING TIGERS fought it out with the home standing DELHI STATE BRONCOS. The Broncos were on top 42-29 at Halftime but Cobleskill State made it a 77-77 tie to end Regulation. The 1st Overtime ended in an 82-82 deadlock before the Fighting Tigers won 97-88 in Double OT. THIRTY-EIGHT points from MJ Ford led Cobleskill.
HAPPY HOME STANDS – The AUSTIN COLLEGE KANGAROOS survived a 79-71 visit from the UNIVERSITY OF THE OZARKS EAGLES ### The ST. NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS dispatched the ROCKFORD UNIVERSITY REGENTS 77-58 ### And the WEBSTER UNIVERSITY GORLOKS sent the (now co-ed) MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN OWLS back home to deal with a 74-67 loss.
NOW THAT’S EMBARRASSING – In this game the SKIDMORE COLLEGE THOROUGHBREDS were all over the visiting BARD COLLEGE RAPTORS. The Thoroughbreds pretty much folded, spindled and mutilated the hapless Bard College team on both sides of the ball. Skidmore converted their 42-15 (!) Halftime advantage into an 82-33 triumph. Jacob Gooden tossed in 20 points to lead the Thoroughbreds.
