BALLADEER’S BLOG’S COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS: JAN 10th

The USCAA no longer has football, so I had no coverage of them from Aug-Dec.

USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) DIVISION ONE

CLOSE CALL FOR NUMBER ONE – The nation’s number one team – the NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STALLIONS – clashed with the visiting TEXAS A&M AT TEXARKANA EAGLES (should be Texarks). The 1st Half ended with the Stallions on top 37-29 but Texarkana came out of the locker room primed for a comeback. Their rally fell short as NAU held on to win 74-71. Jayden Jackson led the Stallions with 23 points, while teammate Joseph Cormier got a Double Double of 11 points and 12 rebounds.

CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation: The (6) NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) obliterated the CENTRAL INTERNATIONAL COLLEGE CARDINALS 121-65   ###   The BLOOMFIELD COLLEGE BEARS won 110-108 at the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE (Albany) BOBCATS   ###   And the (10) PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS mauled the WILEY UNIVERSITY WILDCATS 107-53.

MAINE MASHUP – In this game the UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FORT KENT BENGALS collided with the visiting CENTRAL MAINE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Bengals clung to a mere 35-34 edge at the Half. After the break UM-Fort Kent squeezed out a bit more separation from the Mustangs for a 75-72 victory. Sam Williams of the Bengals led the way with a Double Double of 16 points and 14 rebounds.

RANKED TEAMS ROLLING – The 8th ranked MANOR COLLEGE BLUEJAYS won 92-82 at the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE (Syracuse) BOBCATS   ###   Meanwhile, the number 9 SALEM (WV) UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be Green Tigers) clobbered the visiting WEST VIRGINIA TECH GOLDEN BEARS 95-75   ###   And the 3rd ranked SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE FALCONS won 64-60 at the MIAMI UNIVERSITY AT HAMILTON HARRIERS.

ONE-POINT WONDER – The (7) ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS took it on the road against the MIAMI UNIVERSITY AT MIDDLETOWN THUNDERHAWKS. By Halftime the Thunderhawks were up 42-31 but Atlantis University managed a monumental comeback from there. The Atlanteans triumphed 74-73 led by Santiago Insaurralde’s Double Double of 22 points and 13 rebounds.

USCAA DIVISION TWO

USCAA OVER NCAA – This game saw the (6) VERMONT TECH GREEN KNIGHTS travel to face NCAA Division Three’s NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE PILGRIMS. New England College led 30-29 at the midpoint, but the Green Knights fought back from there to win out 67-65. Jaden Clark logged a Double Double of 22 points and 12 rebounds to lead Vermont Tech.

CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation: The STATE COLLEGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE & FORESTRY MIGHTY OAKS played host to the PAUL SMITH’S COLLEGE BOBCATS and won a 104-91 shootout    ###    And the PENN STATE UNIVERSITY AT YORK LIONS defeated the visiting BERKELEY (NY) COLLEGE KNIGHTS 101-89.

ROAD CLASSIC – The ALBANY COLLEGE OF PHARMACY & HEALTH SCIENCES PANTHERS paid a call on the TOURO COLLEGE BLAST. The Panthers watched their 48-34 Halftime lead melt away after the break. The Blast countered their every move in the 2nd Half but Albany held on for a 75-74 win. Fourteen points from Josh Bendele led the Panthers.

TEN POINTS OR LESS – The SOUTHERN MAINE COLLEGE SEAWOLVES notched a 73-67 win at the UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT AT AVERY POINT POINTERS   ###   Elsewhere, the OHIO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS downed the KENT STATE AT TUSCARAWAS GOLDEN EAGLES 83-73   ###   And the (5) UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS beat the WRIGHT STATE AT THE LAKE LAKERS 87-77.
