THAT WAS NUMBER FIIIIVE – In the NAIA the 19th ranked MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS welcomed the nation’s number 5 team – the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. By Halftime the Wildcats were on top of Marian U. 21-10 but things turned around after the break. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Knights within 28-24 of Indiana Wesleyan and the 4th in a 52-42 Marian triumph.
DOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – Over in NCAA Division 2, the NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS took the field against the visiting 8th ranked UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (their spelling). After a 7-7 1st Quarter tie, the Bearcats led 14-7 and 28-10 in the 2nd and 3rd Quarters. Northwest Missouri State won 38-16 in the 4th.
AND NUMBER NINE COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Staying in D2 for the moment, the number 16 CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS traveled to face the 9th ranked SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY ROCK. The Vulcans put Slippery Rock on Upset Alert with their 35-28 advantage at the Half. Each team scored 10 more points from there as Cal (PA) toppled the Rock 45-38.
INSTANT CLASSIC – This game pitted the independent VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG DRAGONS against their NAIA hosts, the BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS. A 21-7 Halftime lead for the Rambling Rams was cut to just a 35-28 lead to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, the Dragons came from behind for a 43-42 victory.
HILLSDALE HOME STAND – Back in D2, the Hillsdale College Chargers entertained the KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS. The Chargers achieved defensive perfection against Kentucky Wesleyan, leading them 14-0 in the opening Quarter and never looking back. When the dust had settled, Hillsdale College had triumphed over the Panthers 44-0.
DOWN GOES NUMBER TWO – Way down in the CCCAA, the 16th ranked COLLEGE OF THE SEQUOIAS GIANTS faced the visiting number 2 team – the BUTTE COLLEGE ROADRUNNERS. By the midpoint of the game the Giants were out in front 21-14. After the break, College of the Sequoias held on for a 42-38 victory.
NAIA VS NCAA DIVISION THREE
THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN – This was the only NAIA vs D3 football game yesterday. D3’s MARYVILLE COLLEGE SCOTS took the field against the NAIA’s visiting UNIVERSITY OF PIKEVILLE BEARS. The Scots led 21-7 in the 1st Quarter but Pikeville cut that to a 27-20 advantage by Halftime. A 27-27 3rd Quarter tie ultimately became a 34-30 Maryville College win.
*** With D3’s victory, the season is now tied 2-2-1. ***
NAIA
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – There was only one other Upset in the NAIA rankings on Saturday and it came in this game between the number 15 DORDT UNIVERSITY DEFENDERS and the home standing 14th ranked NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS. The Red Raiders were up 17-7 at the Half but from there the Defenders roared back to win the game 21-20.
CLOSE CALLS – The BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS traveled to face the UNIVERSITY OF ST. MARY SPIRES and eked out a 38-37 victory ### Meanwhile, the (6) MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS downed the (25) COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES 27-24 ### And the ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM won 21-20 at the MAYVILLE STATE COMETS.
SEEING THE LIGHT – This game pitted the MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS against the visiting EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS. The Lights were on top 7-0 in the 1st Quarter, but Eastern Oregon tied things up at 7-7 by the midpoint. From there, Montana State-Northern outscored the Mountaineers 16-0 for a 23-7 triumph.
ROAD WARRIORS – The TABOR COLLEGE BLUEJAYS called in on the KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES and beat them 28-19 ### Elsewhere, the UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS won 27-14 at the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS ### And the CLARKE UNIVERSITY PRIDE defeated their hosts the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 37-30.
NCAA DIVISION TWO
OTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The CARSON NEWMAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES were on the road against the number 20 WINGATE UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS and defeated them 21-14 ### And the FAYETTEVILLE STATE BRONCOS were less than gracious hosts to the 23rd ranked VIRGINIA STATE TROJANS, routing them 34-14.
BATTLE OF THE BEAVERS – The MINOT STATE BEAVERS welcomed the BEMIDJI STATE BEAVERS yesterday. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 21-7 Minot State advantage going into Halftime. After the break, Bemidji State knotted things up at 21-21 to end the 3rd Quarter before Minot State won out by a score of 28-21.
ALL NAME GAMES – The UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS visited the ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS and logged a 31-24 triumph ### Elsewhere, the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM won 27-21 at the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM ### And the UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY LOPERS won 31-24 at the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS.
DON’T MESS AROUND WITH JIM – In this game the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES took it on the road against the CONCORDIA (St. Paul) GOLDEN BEARS. The Jimmies were up 6-3 in the opening Quarter and 20-10 come Halftime. After the break, the University of Jamestown outscored the Golden Bears 13-12 to clinch this 33-22 victory.

UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS toppled the visiting 13th ranked SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVERHAWKS 41-27 ### Next, the ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS won 29-26 in Overtime at the number 15 HOPE UNIVERSITY FLYING DUTCHMEN ### And the WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS won 34-14 at the 18th ranked GROVE CITY COLLEGE WOLVERINES.
ANNA MARIA DOESN’T HAVE THE … – In this game, the ANNA MARIA COLLEGE AMCATS played host to the UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AT DARTMOUTH CORSAIRS. A 27-21 Amcats edge at the break became a 33-28 lead to end the 3rd Quarter before Anna Maria College put away the Corsairs 47-43 in the 4th.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The POMONA-PITZER COLLEGE SAGEHENS survived a 25-17 visit from the CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS COLLEGE STAGS ### Meanwhile, the CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS won 14-13 over the GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS COLLEGE GUSTIES ### And the TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS won 34-28 in OT at the WILLIAMS COLLEGE EPHS.
IF IT ISN’T SCOTTISH, IT’S CRAP – The LYON COLLEGE SCOTS took the field against the visiting WESTMINSTER (MO) BLUE JAYS. The Scots watched their 21-0 1st Quarter lead melt down to a mere 24-17 edge at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 24-24 tie, but Lyon College recharged their batteries in the 4th to win the game 38-24.

TOO DEEP A HOLE – The METHODIST UNIVERSITY MONARCHS defended their home field against the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders). By Halftime the Monarchs had built a 20-0 advantage over NNAS. The Builders were primed for a comeback, shutting out Methodist University the rest of the way but falling short in their rally 20-19.
CRYPTID SIGHTING – In this game the CLAYTON STATE LAKERS welcomed the JACKSONVILLE ACADEMY MOCS (short for Moccasins, as in the snakes). The Lakers proceeded to dominate Jacksonville Academy on both sides of the ball for 4 pounding Quarters. The final tally was Clayton State 44 Mocs 12.
FORFEITS – Uh oh. For the second time in this 2025 season TWO games in the NSAC were forfeits. First, the ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS got a 2-0 forfeit from the NAPLES ACADEMY KNIGHTS, and then the BARBER-SCOTIA COLLEGE SABERS logged the same from the DAYTONA ELITE ACADEMY WARRIORS.

KNOCKING OFF NUMBER NINE – The COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS took the field against the visiting number 9 team in the nation – the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES. The Red Ravens led 3-0, 17-7 and 24-7 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters respectively. The Grizzlies rallied in the 4th only to fall short as Coffeyville won 31-28.
HAPPY HOME STANDS – The NASSAU COLLEGE LIONS won a 24-20 Instant Classic against the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS ### Next, the (13) SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS defeated the (15) LACKAWANNA COLLEGE FALCONS by a score of 55-38 ### And the CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS roughed up the KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS 37-20.
WHEN COOL-NAMED TEAMS CLASH – This game pitted the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS against their guests, the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES. The Conquistadors kept Highland College off the scoreboard for 3 out of 4 Quarters. A 14-0 Halftime advantage ultimately became a 35-6 beatdown of the Scotties.
VARYING DEGREES OF BLOWOUTS – The ANDREW COLLEGE FIGHTING TIGERS decked their hosts, the COLUMBUS STATE COUGARS 35-14 ### Next, the (2) IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS clobbered the visiting (10) IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS 48-17 ### And the (8) GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS won 66-10 at the ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS.

ALL NAME GAMES – The ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE MARAUDERS logged a 61-7 road win at the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS ### Elsewhere, the (22) PASADENA CITY COLLEGE LANCERS downed the (19) BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES 45-24 ### And the GLENDALE COLLEGE GAUCHOS shut out their hosts the COMPTON COLLEGE TARTARS 62-0.
WORKING OVERTIME – The (6) SOUTHWESTERN (CA) COLLEGE JAGUARS took it on the road against the (18) SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS yesterday. A 14-14 1st Quarter tie turned into a 31-17 Halftime lead for the Jaguars. The Olympians forced Overtime with a 31-31 deadlock to end the 4th Quarter. Southwestern won 38-31 in the extra session.
ROAD WARRIORS – The GROSSMONT COLLEGE GRIFFINS won a 31-28 thriller at the VICTOR VALLEY COLLEGE RAMS ### The DE ANZA COLLEGE DONS clobbered the CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS 44-10 ### And the SANTA MONICA COLLEGE CORSAIRS won 34-14 at the LOS ANGELES VALLEY COLLEGE MONARCHS.
I HAVE BEEN TO THE MOUNTAIN TOP – This game pitted the (8) MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES against the visiting MOORPARK COLLEGE RAIDERS. Angry over last week’s loss, the Mounties took it out on Moorpark College, leading them 21-0 in the opening Quarter and 47-9 at the Half. From there, Mt. SAC coasted to a 61-12 blowout win.
