NAIA OVER THE NCAA – The only NAIA game last night was this one between the VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS and the visiting AUGSBURG UNIVERSITY AUGGIES from NCAA Division Three. This clash was over almost before it began as the Vikings seized a 19-0 lead in the 1st Quarter on their way to a 27-0 shutout of the Auggies.
NCAA DIVISION TWO
BATTLE OF RANKED TEAMS – The number 18 team in the nation – the CALIFORNIA (PA) UNIVERSITY VULCANS – welcomed the 21st ranked UNIVERSITY OF CHARLESTON GOLDEN EAGLES. A 10-7 opening Quarter advantage for the Vulcans became a 20-13 lead by Halftime. The Golden Eagles outscored Cal (PA) 6-3 from there, but the Vulcans won this 23-19 thriller.
ALL NAME GAMES – The HENDERSON STATE REDDIES trounced the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM 48-13 ### Meanwhile, the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS won 32-10 at the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM ### And the SOUTHERN ARKANSAS UNIVERSITY MULERIDERS dismembered the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON 49-14.
PUTTING IN OVERTIME – This game pitted the FAIRMONT STATE FALCONS against the visiting BLOOMSBURG UNIVERSITY HUSKIES. The Falcons led 7-6 in the 1st Quarter and 24-19 at the Half. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 27-27 tie and the 4th in a 34-34 deadlock. In OT a missed PAT was the difference as Fairmont State triumphed 41-40.
UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS paid a visit to the 6th ranked COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES and edged them 36-35 ### And in a case of Tiger on Tiger violence the EAST CENTRAL UNIVERSITY TIGERS welcomed the number 11 OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS and defeated them 24-22.
‘CATS AT THE ‘VILLE – The FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS took it on the road against the MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY MARAUDERS. A 7-0 opening Quarter edge for the Bobcats turned into a 21-14 lead come Halftime. The Marauders pulled to within 28-24 in the 3rd Quarter before the 4th saw Frostburg State emerge with a 34-32 victory.
ROAD RAGE RISING – The COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS won a close 33-31 affair at the WEST TEXAS A&M BUFFALOES ### Elsewhere, the TIFFIN UNIVERSITY DRAGONS routed the WAYNE STATE WARRIORS 34-7 ### And the (2) HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON squared up on the NORTHWESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE RANGERS 49-7.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A POLO MATCH BROKE OUT – The MARIETTA COLLEGE PIONEERS visited the WESTMINSTER (PA) TITANS in this game. The Pioneers were on top 6-0 at the Half after a scoreless 1st Quarter. The 3rd Quarter ended in a 12-8 Marietta College advantage and that Polo Match score was also the final tally.
ONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – More mixed sports shenanigans as the NORTH CAROLINA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY BISHOPS eviscerated the AVERETT UNIVERSITY COUGARS 64-12 ### Meanwhile, the COE COLLEGE KOHAWKS won 62-6 at the CORNELL (IA) RAMS ### And the HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES beat down the HIRAM UNIVERSITY TERRIERS 65-27.
BLUE OVER GREEN – In this game the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUEBOYS took the field against the visiting GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. The Blueboys were on top of Greenville U. 7-0 and 14-3 in the 1st and 2nd Quarters, respectively. From there Illinois College left the Panthers further and further behind in their 28-9 victory.
THREE GAMES IN SEARCH OF A THEME – The FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS managed a 31-21 road win over the LEBANON VALLEY COLLEGE FLYING DUTCHMEN ### Elsewhere, the BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS kicked around their guests, the MILLSAPS COLLEGE MAJORS 50-24 ### And the TRINITY (TX) TIGERS won 26-14 at the TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS.
HAPPY HOME STAND – The HOWARD PAYNE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS played host to the PACIFIC UNIVERSITY BOXERS. Though the Yellow Jackets had acquired a 14-3 advantage by Halftime, the Boxers made it a 14-10 tally to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th, Howard Payne U. triumphed 21-13.

TAKING DOWN NUMBER FIVE – The 8th ranked TYLER COLLEGE APACHES took it on the road against the number 5 SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS. The Apaches grabbed a 7-0 lead in the opening Quarter and 16-0 at the break. In the 3rd Quarter, Tyler went up 23-3 over the Badgers before putting the game away 26-12 in the 4th.
NUMBER THREE ROLLS – The number 3 team in the nation – the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS – entertained the EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WARRIORS last night. The Rangers led East Central College 7-0, 13-3 and 20-10 in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Quarters, respectively before polishing them off in the 4th 29-10.
SEVEN AND NINE TRIUMPHANT – The 7th ranked COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLFPACK more than doubled-up on the visiting HOLMES COLLEGE BULLDOGS by a score of 30-13 ### And the number 9 MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COLLEGE BULLDOGS absolutely tore apart their guests the MISSISSIPPI DELTA COLLEGE TROJANS 58-7.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – This game pitted the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS against the visiting HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. In one of the oddest gridiron battles of the night the Eagles were up 6-0 in the 1st Quarter but the Lions took a 7-6 edge going into Halftime. That held up as the final score, too.
ROAD WARRIORS – The NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE TIGERS traveled to face the SOUTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE BEARS and went back home with a 35-12 win ### And the JONES COLLEGE BOBCATS viciously smacked down their opponents, the home standing COAHOMA COLLEGE TIGERS, by a final score of 51-20.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – In this game the PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS welcomed the ITAWAMBA COLLEGE INDIANS. This was a tale of two Halves as the Wildcats led Itawamba College 20-7 in the 1st Quarter and 27-10 headed into the locker room. After the break, the Indians outscored PRC 32-21 but still lost to them 48-42.
