NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this tournament were the COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES and the OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The Coyotes eliminated all the suspense early on, leading Oklahoma Wesleyan 49-29 by Halftime. After the break the College of Idaho left the Eagles further behind for a 93-65 win. Samaje Morgan led the Yotes with 28 points.
NCAA DIVISION TWO
FINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The CAL STATE AT DOMINGUEZ HILLS TOROS took the court against the WEST LIBERTY UNIVERSITY HILLTOPPERS. This was a tale of two Halves as the Hilltoppers were up 50-39 at the midpoint, following which the Toros rallied to win the game 86-84. Twenty-two points from David Cheatom led the way for CSU-Dominguez Hills.
FINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – In this game the NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY SHARKS faced the ASSUMPTION UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS. The Sharks were all business as they took a 56-36 advantage into the locker room at the Half, then kept the Greyhounds at arm’s length for a Century Club victory of 102-93. Tyler Eberhart tossed in 24 points to lead Nova Southeastern.
FINAL FOUR: THIRD BERTH – The WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS did battle with the LENOIR-RHYNE UNIVERSITY BEARS for this berth. The opening Half ended with the Ichabods out in front 46-40. From there Washburn U. managed some more separation from the Bears to win out 90-78. The Ichabods were led by Brayden Shorter with 18 points.
FINAL FOUR: LAST BERTH – Wrapping things up was this clash between the DALLAS BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS and the LAKE SUPERIOR STATE LAKERS. The Lakers had the DBU faithful a bit worried at Halftime with their 38-37 edge, but after the break the Patriots came back for a comfortable 98-85 triumph. Ricky Lujan tossed in 27 points to lead Dallas Baptist.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
ROUND TWO: GAME ONE – The WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE WARRIORS played the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS. The Pioneers saw their 30-21 Halftime lead melt away as the Warriors forced Overtime with a 65-65 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session Wisconsin Lutheran won 75-73 led by 26 points from Jacob Stoltz. Grayson Goetz added a Double Double of 11 points and 13 rebounds.
ROUND TWO: GAME TWO – Up next the TRINITY (CT) BANTAMS took the court against the KEENE STATE OWLS. The Bantams were up 36-25 at the Half, following which they squeezed out a bit more separation for a 93-78 victory. Henry Vetter’s 29 points led Trinity College, while fellow Bantam Jarrel Okorougo notched a Double Double of 17 points and 13 rebounds.
ROUND TWO: GAME THREE – In this game the WORCESTER POYTECHNICAL INSTITUTE ENGINEERS faced the ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS. By the midpoint of the game the Engineers held a 37-32 advantage. After the break Worcester Tech eliminated the Bombers by a final score of 79-71. Nathan Bledsoe led the way for the Engineers by putting up 22 points.
ROUND TWO: GAME FOUR – The ROANOKE COLLEGE MAROONS took on the CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS. The Maroons put the Captains on Upset Alert with their 46-34 Halftime lead, then had to hold on tight against a furious CNU rally. Roanoke College eked out a 77-75 win. The Maroons were led by 22 points from Joshua McClary.
ROUND TWO: GAME FIVE – The NEW YORK UNIVERSITY VIOLETS collided with the YORK COLLEGE SPARTANS. Defense was the name of the game in the 1st Half, which ended with the Violets holding a mere 26-19 advantage. After the break the offenses got into gear as NYU defeated the Spartans 62-52. Once again 22 points led the victors, this time from the Violets’ Tristan How.
ROUND TWO: GAME SIX – This game pitted the ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TITANS against the ST. JOHN’S UNIVERSITY JOHNNIES. The Titans were threatening an Upset with their 35-34 Halftime edge, then carried through by downing the Johnnies by a final tally of 75-73. Harrison Wilmsen led the way for Illinois Wesleyan in this nailbiter with his 17 points.
