BALLADEER’S BLOG COLLEGE BASKETBALL: USCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) DIVISION ONE

ROUND ONE: GAME ONE – The 4 seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) played the 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN ILLINOIS COLLEGE FALCONS. By Halftime the Builders had acquired a 38-30 advantage over SIC. After the break, the Apprentice School pressed down on the accelerator, routing the Falcons by a score of 85-61. Adrion Wall led the Builders with 19 points.

ROUND ONE: GAME TWO – This game pitted the 2nd seeded LYON COLLEGE SCOTS against the 7 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT BUFFALO BOBCATS. The Scots were on fire and led BSC-Buffalo 48-31 at the midpoint. From there Lyon College squeezed out a bit more separation for an 84-63 triumph. Kylon McCullough’s 23 points led the Scots, while teammate Frank Toney had a Double Double of 14 points & 10 rebounds.

ROUND ONE: GAME THREE – The 3 seeds – the VILLA MARIA COLLEGE VIKINGS – did battle with the 6th seeded MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The defenses dominated in this clash, with the Vikings on top by a mere 31-27 at Halftime. After the break Villa Maria outscored the Mustangs by 1 additional point to win the game 60-55. Seventeen points from Juston Johnson led the Vikings.

ROUND ONE: GAME FOUR – Up next came the Game of the Day, as the 8th seeded BERKELEY (NY) COLLEGE KNIGHTS took on the top seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT SYRACUSE BOBCATS. The Knights put BSC-Syracuse on Upset Alert by the Half with a 41-34 advantage. From there Berkeley College carried through with a stunning 81-68 victory. DaMarco Watson logged a Double Double of 22 points & 11 rebounds to lead the Knights.

USCAA DIVISION TWO

FIRST ROUND: GAME ONE – In this hardcourt collision the 10 seeds – the BUCKS COUNTY COLLEGE CENTURIONS – played the 7th seeded PENN STATE AT DUBOIS LIONS. Another Upset was in the offing as the Centurions led 52-47 at Halftime, but PSU-Dubois tied things up 83-83 to force OT. In the extra session Bucks County College won 92-89. Tyshaun Dukes led the Centurions with his Double Double of 24 points & 11 rebounds.

FIRST ROUND: GAME TWO – The 9th seeded VERMONT TECH GREEN KNIGHTS faced the 8 seeds – the PENN STATE AT WILKES-BARRE LIONS – to end Day One action. The Green Knights put up 40 points in each Half, leading PSU-Wilkes-Barre 40-35 at the break before bouncing them 80-67. Twenty-three points from Jaden Clark led Vermont Tech, while fellow Green Knight Jaylon Calvin had a Double Double of 17 points & 11 assists.
