WILD WEST – The EASTERN ARIZONA COLLEGE GILA MONSTERS welcomed the COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA COYOTES. At Halftime the Gila Monsters were clinging to a 39-34 advantage but after the break EAC got some separation from the Coyotes for a 96-83 win. Armari Carraway put up THIRTY points to lead the Gila Monsters.
CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more in Regulation: The MONTGOMERY COLLEGE RAPTORS won a 106-74 beatdown at the COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN MARYLAND HAWKS ### Meanwhile, the ST. PETERSBURG COLLEGE TITANS eviscerated the visiting FLORIDA COLLEGE FALCONS 109-57 ### And the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES won 104-85 at the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS.
GASTON GAME – The GASTON COLLEGE RHINOS played host to the CENTRAL CAROLINA COLLEGE COUGARS in this game. The Cougars were on top 42-34 by Halftime, but the Rhinos came out of the locker room primed for a comeback. Gaston College went on to win the game 85-78. Seventeen points from Judah Ravenell led the Rhinos.
KINGS OF THE ROAD – The MIAMI-DADE COLLEGE SHARKS managed a 76-71 victory at the HILLSBOROUGH COLLEGE HAWKS ### Elsewhere, the VINCENNES UNIVERSITY TRAILBLAZERS triumphed over the JOHN A. LOGAN COLLEGE VOLUNTEERS 80-74 ### And the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS won 87-68 at the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES.
ONE-POINT WONDER – In this game the WEATHERFORD COLLEGE COYOTES took the court against the visiting RANGER COLLEGE RANGERS. The Coyotes seemed in charge with their 42-28 lead at the Half, but from there they had to withstand a furious Rangers rally. Weatherford College held on to win out 73-72. Antwan Wilson tossed in 19 points to lead the victors, while his teammate Handy Toussaint logged a Double Double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.
ALL NAME GAMES – Up first the ARIZONA WESTERN COLLEGE MATADORS defeated their guests the CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE VAQUEROS 76-68 ### The COCHISE COLLEGE APACHES won 87-74 at the YAVAPAI COLLEGE ROUGHRIDERS ### And the RICHARD BLAND COLLEGE STATESMEN beat their hosts the CAPE FEAR COLLEGE SEA DEVILS 75-66.
THUNDER FROM ABOVE – This game pitted the CASPER COLLEGE THUNDERBIRDS against the home standing EASTERN WYOMING COLLEGE LANCERS. By the midpoint the Thunderbirds were up 40-30 and in the 2nd Half they pulled away a bit more from the Lancers. The final score was Casper College 77 Eastern Wyoming College 62. Abdul Bashir led the T-Birds with 29 points.
SHOWDOWN – The FRANK PHILLIPS COLLEGE PLAINSMEN found themselves on the road against the WESTERN TEXAS COLLEGE WESTERNERS. The defenses dominated the opening Half as the Westerners clung to a mere 27-23 edge at the break. From there the Plainsmen came from behind to win the game 61-57. L.A. Hayes’ 22 points led Frank Phillips College.
CAMPBELL COUNTY HEALTH GAME – On hand for this hardcourt collision were the GILLETTE COLLEGE PRONGHORNS and their guests the CENTRAL WYOMING COLLEGE RUSTLERS. The Pronghorns seized control early and were up 50-22 come Halftime. Gillette College kept the Rustlers at arm’s length the rest of the way for an 88-67 victory. Caleb Hollenbeck led the Pronghorns with 21 points.
WORKING OVERTIME – The COLBY COLLEGE TROJANS took on the visiting GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS in this game and defeated them in DOUBLE OVERTIME by a score of just 82-81 ### And the BISHOP STATE COLLEGE WILDCATS used Overtime to beat their hosts the SHELBY STATE COLLEGE BUCCANEERS 70-63.
