BALLADEER’S BLOG: COLLEGE BASKETBALL FROM JANUARY 11th

IF YOU WERE A TREE – The SUNY COLLEGE OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE & FORESTRY MIGHTY OAKS welcomed the JEFFERSON COLLEGE CANNONEERS. The Mighty Oaks seized control early, leading 47-31 by Halftime and ultimately defeating the Cannoneers by a final score of 96-74. Patrick Emery led SUNY-ESF with his 27 points.

USCAA OVER D2 – The USCAA’s NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) played host to NCAA Division Two’s CHEYNEY UNIVERSITY WOLVES. The Wolves led 41-38 at the midpoint but the Builders outscored them 47-34 from there for an 85-75 victory over the higher division team. Adrion Wall’s 22 points led the Apprentice School. 

USCAA OVER D3 – In this game the USCAA’s VERMONT TECH GREEN KNIGHTS took it on the road against NCAA Division Three’s NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE PILGRIMS. At the Half, the Pilgrims were up 36-32 but the Green Knights fought back after the break, winning a 72-70 thriller. The victors were led by Jaylon Calvin’s 19 points.

WORKING OVERTIME – The STANTON UNIVERSITY FIGHTING ELKS won in OT 78-63 at the SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA LEADERSHIP UNIVERSITY RHINOS   ###   Meanwhile, the FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS defeated their hosts the FLORIDA COLLEGE FALCONS 79-73 in the extra session   ###   And the HARFORD COLLEGE FIGHTING OWLS won 80-77 at the PENN STATE AT YORK LIONS.

WILD HORSES – The NORTH AMERICAN UNIVERSITY STALLIONS took the court against the visiting PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS (should be Purple Tigers). The Stallions held a tight 32-29 edge at Halftime then exploded from there to clobber PQC 86-62. Seventeen points from Sean Fry were what led North American University.

CENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation: The home standing GREAT BAY COLLEGE HERONS made the list easily with their 121-61 evisceration of the PAUL SMITH’S COLLEGE BOBCATS    ###    And the PENN STATE AT DUBOIS LIONS visited the BUTLER COUNTY COLLEGE PIONEERS, trouncing them 104-76. 

MECHANIZED AND MIGHTY – This game pitted the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS against their guests the ALBANY COLLEGE OF PHARMACY & HEALTH SCIENCES PANTHERS. By the Half the Mechanics had built up a 35-21 advantage, then coasted to a 68-56 triumph. Ronald Johnson’s Double Double of 17 points and 12 rebounds led Williamson.

ALL-NAME GAMES – The ATLANTIS UNIVERSITY ATLANTEANS won by a score of 92-75 at the MILLENNIA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY MACAWS   ###   Elsewhere, the CENTRAL PENN COLLEGE SILVER KNIGHTS beat the FIVE TOWNS COLLEGE SOUND 97-85   ###   And the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS hammered the FONTBONNE UNIVERSITY GRIFFINS 93-76.   

INSTANT CLASSIC – The NEW HAMPSHIRE TECHNICAL INSTITUTE LYNX welcomed the MASSACHUSETTS BAY COLLEGE BUCCANEERS. The defenses dominated the opening Half, with the Buccaneers holding a mere 28-26 edge going into the locker room. From there the Lynx rallied to win the game 67-64. Twenty points from Joseph Canty led NHTI.

HOME AND AWAY – Home: The KENT STATE AT TUSCARAWAS GOLDEN EAGLES converted their 41-39 Halftime lead over the VILLA MARIA COLLEGE VIKINGS into an 83-56 smackdown    ###    Away: The JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY AT CHARLOTTE WILDCATS won a 70-68 nail-biter against the MORRIS COLLEGE HORNETS.
